  1. i have an atlas bipod BT10-LW17 on my precision rifle.  While i feel they take longer to setup than the harris, they feel more secure plus they allow movement in several directions including left and right movements plus canting left or right side.

    Sig P938

Do you remember which model of p938 it was?  The base prices on all p938s did go up (msrp that is).  i think that's what i paid for my 938 extreme last july (minus a 10%leo discount at TN Gun Country).   So with current supply/demand and msrp in mind, then I think that's a good price.
  3. I like the HSP-WML more than any other weapon light i've owned (atleast for rifles). Its super light weight and has a good throw, it's also the perfect lumens for clearing a house (not that i'd recommend clearing a house with an ar) since its not too bright, but its bright enough.
  4. I have the Haley strategic model HSP-WML with the thorntail offset mount (149.99).  I think the light is just about perfect (It took a month to find it in stock and two weeks to ship once it did).   http://haleystrategic.com/store/inforce_wml_hsp.php
  5. i agree with the tactics being all wrong.  They set themselves up where they were shooting at each other since they decided to "surround" the guy with the knife? I don't know whose terrible idea that was.  The guy with the patrol rifle then came close to the man with the knife to do the negotiations? I would want him to be out on perimeter pointing his muzzle at the guy with the knife while i was a little closer (but well out of 21ft)  the entire time during negotiations...  I don't  know why they would get that close to someone with a knife either.
  6. for a scope(mine is mounted on my 10/22) i bought this since it came with rings.   http://www.amazon.com/Barska-AC10380-BARSKA-Plinker-22-Riflescope/dp/B001JJCHWK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360883952&sr=8-1&keywords=.22+scope

i have the p938 extreme and I haven't had any problems with it.  I use a last ditch holster with it from crossbreed (you just have to email them).  I am sure this is the perfect carry handgun for those that want a single stack.  If you have very large hands then you may not like the p938 since it's pretty small.
  8. I once asked a similar question to GunRunner who works for MidTNGunsmithing and he said if it fits in his oven then he can definitely spray it, so I'd say go for it.
  9. For transporting I would place it anywhere it would stay safe (without moving everywhere and getting scratched up).  I wouldn't "store" a shotgun in a car for a long amount of time in TN unless its in a case (and gun sock) because of rust issues.  Yes, HCP holders can have ammo in the shotgun as long as the chamber is empty.
  10. i would just call bell and carlson and they will send it to you for free since it should have came with the stock.
  11. Please become a premium member and post a WTB Advertisement (Support this FORUM!!!).  I have recently purchased a HSP WML for my AR and I like it (I wrap my hand around the handguards when i shoot).  I was using a surefire M910A but they add too much weight in my opinion. I have a tlr1-s and i like that for pistols but I wouldn't place it on my rifle.  I would get a light for each if I were you.
  12. i love my P220 Stainless elite.  I recommend upgrading the grips to hogue g10 extremes though!
  13. yeah the 700 aac-sd is a great all around rifle, plus its threaded so you can add a muzzle break or a suppressor.   The upgrades you can do to to a Remington 700 are countless, but its great as is.  I am a big fan of Manner stocks and Jewell trigger and upgraded bolt knobs.

    New handgun

I've got a Springfield xdm 5.25 competition in 40 for sale in the classified section.
  15. no, the bore snake will not damage the barrel, but it also won't properly clean it.  watch you tube videos on how to clean a bolt action rifle.  Proper cleaning requires patches, cleaning rods/attachments, and a good degreaser/bore cleaner and oil.  Bore guides are also recommended but they can get expensive (there are cheaper ones available too).  Besides saving time, i dont know why someone would send a dirty bore snake through a barrel and call it clean.  Would you put a dirty patch back through as well?  If it was a shotgun then go ahead.   here is a decent video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5_vO2Donhg   So to recap, breaking in the barrel isn't needed and it causes unnecessary wear and tear. And point two is to learn to properly clean your gun and get the right tools which is more important especially if it sits for a while in the safe between shoots.
  16. i wouldn't worry too much about breaking in the 700 with any stock barrel.  However, if you do get a new competition barrel put on it then i would break it in.  The tolerances on any stock barrel simply wont be tight enough to justify the cleaning procedure that does wear out the barrel.   For break in I use this procedure from Lilja but I use Boretech eliminator with a nylon brush. For an effective break-in the barrel should be cleaned after EVERY shot for the first 10-12 rounds or until copper fouling stops. Our procedure is to push a cotton patch that is wet with solvent through the barrel. This will remove much of the powder fouling and wet the inside of the barrel with solvent. Next, wet a bronze brush (not a nylon brush) with solvent and stroke the barrel 5-10 times. Follow this by another wet patch and then one dry patch. Now soak the barrel with a strong copper removing solvent until all of the blue mess is removed from the barrel. The copper fouling will be heavy for a few rounds and then taper off quickly in just one or two shots. Once it has stopped or diminished significantly it is time to start shooting 5 shot groups, cleaning after each one. After 25-30 rounds clean at a normal interval of 10-25 rounds. Your barrel is now broken-in.   Please don't use a bore snake on any remington 700.  Get a LONG rod and the proper cleaning attachments (and a bore guide if you can afford it).
  17. Ask middle tn Gunsmithing. They are by exit 24 on i24.
  18. Quantico Tactical has some in stock for $17.50.  Its windowed gen 3. They also have gen 2s and window less, but they are limiting everyone to only 3 magazines total.  Also, you have to purchase $50 worth to get three mags, which makes this deal sound worse (i don't mind the limits, but now i have to buy $50 worth of stuff)...  They have plenty stock and they are now closed, they open at 900 and close at 1700.     John
  19. wow, buying 10 pmags once a week wasn't the end of the world.  I get pissed at the ones who buy 30+ in front of me and clear out the dang place when i just wanted 3.  At the end of the day I see the same people lashing out and attacking people on these forums for their questionable practices when a simple private message would do.  Don't let this forum turn into Sons of Guns with drama and attacks every episode/post.
  20. most departments have been letting officers carry their own gun for years due to budget issues.  Nashville seems behind the times on this, but from a legal standpoint they did have a reason.  Even in a justified shooting the weapon becomes scrutinized by the victim's family.   For "scatter guns" most officers will carry buck shot, bird shot (for deer), and slugs. Department policy will tell the officer which one should be in his "long gun".  One day I hope to carry a saiga 12 since it will speed up and simplify changing the rounds.
  21. i like it!
  22. the guy that bought all the xdm 9mm 19 round magazines probably bought them all.  I don't think anyone will go around picking up the "scary" high capacity rounds from your house, but I went to every guy shop yesterday (minus the one on madison near golf club ln) and couldn't find any magazines i were looking for.  I must say the lack of magazines annoys me even though i don't really need anymore...  :wall:
  23. i will talk to my local gunsmith about the ultimate match trigger, but that does look like the one to go with.  He's probably going to be doing the magwell as well if i could figure out which one i want.  I am going to wait on the red dot since it requires removing the sights and I don't really want to do that.  I will definitely go with a blade tech holster and I will probably get the competition kit that includes a holster, mag holders, and even a belt.  As for magwell i'm on the fence since i want a magwell brand that also makes the extensions for a perfect fit.  The gun came with three magazines so hopefully it won't cost too much to get three extensions and a magwell.    As for shooting time, i can promise you i get plenty (in .40 and .45), but the 9mm in a full frame experience is new to me.  I just wanted a gun that i can run with faster follow-up shots and looked cool in the process of showing off.
  24. yeah, i was about to say look at the gsg-9.2 high boots.  they are "supposed" to be very nice and I may get them for my next boot (if my department doesn't get me any).  Zappos has them for over $40 over retail though. I can't really recommend them since i haven't bought a pair yet, but that also means I can't say anything bad.  supposedly they run narrow though so get 1/2 size bigger if that's the route you want to go. http://www.zappos.com/adidas-gsg-9-2
  25. Post pictures of it. If it has little holes over all the sides then it doesn't need to be indexed. If it has large holes on only two sides then it is normally indexed so the two sides with holes point left and right.
