That would sure help with all of the illegals who are breeding with the help of social funds used to buy them fertility drugs (I kid you not). Going to the hospital unable to pay should result in zero tolerance for irresponsible lifestyle. I don't want to pay for the injuries incurred through the delinquency of the children of irresponsible parents, I don't want to pay for the reproduction, upbringing and health-care for families of illegal insurgents, I don't want to pay for the AIDS treatment of sexual deviants, and I don't want to pay for the care of evil people who are rotting in prison. The principle of personal responsibility is fading in this country... and the responsibilities which have been abandoned by some, are being forced upon the rest of us, harmfully.

I suppose that anybody could have been Mario Andretti given the same time behind the wheel of a race-car... Some people simply have extraordinary aptitude for certain things. I don't doubt that some people could get "close"... depending on what one considers "close". These 'games' are not simulation of self-defense, much like the Grand-Prix is not simulation of driving on public roads... hence, the proficiency gained is largely useless for anything but winning the game. (unless he carries around his race-rig and speed mag-pouch, of course). I don't disagree that it would be far more impressive to see similar speed using a practical carry pistol, and drawing mags from concealment. Perhaps being a 'warrior' isn't what development of gun-handling skills is all about to you, but I have little personal use for gun-handling skills which are impractical in real-life (perhaps 'warrior' isn't the best descriptor of that). Entertaining stunts won't keep me alive. We're both entitled to our preferences... whatever floats our boat...

I think the point is that if anybody could just pick up a super-custom race-gun and perform mag-changes that rapidly, it wouldn't be so extraordinary... That guy obviously has talent, and dedication to perfecting that particular operation. However... impressive shooting, or operating one's equipment proficiently does not a warrior make (though it sure helps). He's obviously good at what he does, and using a fine piece of machinery to do it with does not diminish that skill.

It sucks that things like this have to sometimes happen to people before they realize how vulnerable they are... ...the second victim was said to be walking his dog, but it doesn't say any more about the dog. It seems to me that if it would do nothing effective to protect its owner, it's a pretty worthless dog to keep around. I would rather the story have gone like: "..The suspects were tracked down and taken into custody early yesterday after police ran the prints from the arm which the victim's dog ripped off of one perpetrator... The other two were listed in stable-but-critical condition, but may require extensive plastic surgury in order to again resemble a human male..."

I thought IPSC was supposed to get one's head OUT of their rectal cavity...?

Packing in a hotel that has a bar?

As I understand it, the president of the TRA was the problem, not so much the individual members themselves. How or why I do not know... but that was the jist of the problem, as I understood it, per John Harris - TFA. -
I'm with ya' on the gold plating... unless it's a display piece. But there are some manufacturers who slap gold trim onto pistols in a most disgusting manner. To me, however, that's just aesthetics... personal preference holds sway. Considering that handgun porting is mostly (and most appropriately) done on large, powerfully chambered specimens. I'd go out on a limb and say that 50-100fps loss due to porting is oftentimes worth exchanging for improved recoil handling, and reduced muzzle-climb. It sure helps with sporting shotguns... why not on smaller platforms which do not offer shoulder support? The 1/2" difference in sight-radius is negligable... at least on long-barreled revolvers. Besides that, don't many hunters who use revolvers equip them with scopes, anyways? And on revolvers which are ported after-market... the sight radius is un-affected. Coming purely from the aesthetic perspective, there's nothing wrong with disliking how it looks.

Packing in a hotel that has a bar?

It's not a boycott if I'm not allowed inside, by law. Handing them a card which describes why I cannot come inside, and asking for their support in changing that law is not an 'attack'... Finding a few restaurants owned by legislators (or their families) and focusing on them would be a great idea. The object is not to be aggressively confrontational, it is to be vocal and informative regarding an issue which hurts their business as a result of unreasonable law. We don't have to be hateful to get our message across... in fact, the opposite is true (which I believe was your point). We want restaurant owners informed, so that they can be on our side. Uninformed, they cannot make that choice. -

Guns are tools, with many uses... Even if earth became devoid of evil people, there would still be hunters, and folks who enjoy firearms for sport. I count myself among the latter. Honestly, I really wish that there was no need for me to contemplate and prepare for the possiblity of taking another human life in defense of my own... -
Don't forget any hardware store or business which sells or uses blank cartridges for some nail guns... Yah... this one isn't going anywhere in its current form.

I don't own any ported handguns, and don't feel strongly about them either way.... But, since there is an obvious handling advantage in putting a muzzle-brake on a rifle for specific applications, I don't see why it is such a bad thing for specific applications, on a handgun? Comped 1911s are a thing of beauty to shoot... though perhaps not the best option for carry/defensive purposes. Why do you hate them? Are you forced to use them?

I don't think the objective is to become the enemy of the restaurant industry... it's to educate them on a portion of the market whose interests are affected by their stance on the subject. You are indeed correct, at present, the majority of our efforts should be towards legislation. -
The scoring is indeed subjective... The class I took only required 70% of the shots to be in the black. The class my wife took (Thanks Len!), had points-based scoring, and anything outside of the 7-ring was a miss. I think it's perfectly acceptable to allow instructors flexibility to score the shooting test as they see fit. I don't think it's acceptable that some only challenge their students with the bare minimum requirement (as I was). But, all in all... no single 8-12hr class could fully prepare a person to defend themselves with a firearm. It takes the proper mentality, and familiarity with one's firearm. The more, the better.

I must admit that the fella in the picture looks a whole lot more like Wes than Little Richard ...or Bob Goulet'. -

I might be able to spring for a lower in a few months... The TGO logo thing sounds awesome! Lowers are cheap, and the nice thing is you don't have to build it up right away...

Little Richard? He's the only one I know spends much time around here... -
I had ARs for several years (only .223 and 9mm)... Got bored and sold them. Wanted one of those new Sig 556s, but after hearing some reliability and workmanship nightmare stories, decided to opt for a nice AK (Polish Tantal).

In the class I took, nearly 5 years ago, the instructor had us fire 6rd one-handed, with the strong hand, then with the weak hand, and then with a two-handed grip, at 3yd and 7yd. The last 12rd were two-handed at 15yd. I too, have never heard of anyone failing the shooting test.

There certainly aren't many semi-auto platforms out there that can be swapped from .20 caliber to .50 caliber, and anything in-between, by simply changing the bolt, barrel, and perhaps the buffer-spring... If I ever get back into the AR platform... I only forsee wanting 3 calibers: - 5.56 - .22lr - .45 Bushmaster Then again, a 9mm upper would be nice, too... So, make that 4...

I always wondered if the .204 ruger cartridge could be chambered in a Defensive/Offensive platform for "tactical" usage, loaded with proper projectiles... There are 50gr HPBT projectiles available, and the cartridge seems to provide better external ballistics than .223 in the given comparable projectile weights... It would be an interesting analysis. It certainly wouldn't be likely to be worthwhile without significant benefits to outweigh the increased costs, but still intriguing...
