  1. What doesn't kill ya, makes you stronger... (technicalities, technicalities....) I don't brush any on after they are done cooking, if that eases your mind . They end up plenty hot and crispy to be thoroughly cooked.
  2. The best combo I've come up with is simply 5 pounds of wings, a case of beer (save one for the sauce), a bottle of Texas Pete's, and 2 sticks of unsalted butter. Grab a beer and go light the grill, then go check TGO for new threads... Post a few pics in the Girls with Guns thread, and check to make sure everybody knows what kind of ammo you carry. Hit the fridge for another cold one, and the bag of wings... rinse the wings while the butter melts in a saucepan, then mix in the bottle of Texas Pete's and a beer. Pour the concoction over the wings in a pan and place in the fridge. Have another beer. Let it sit and marinate that way while you drink 3-4 more beers and go check on the grill and yell at the neighbor's dog. Stop by the pisser on the way back inside to relieve yourself, (WASH YOUR HANDS)... then go retrieve the pan of wings, and another beer. Spread out the coals in the grill for a low heat, then arrange the wings on the rack, close the lid, and take your beer back inside to catch the start of the race. Don't forget to go turn the wings every 10 laps or so (5 if there's a caution), and after they are browning on both sides, brush on some of the sauce from the pan you marinated them in. Go back inside to get another beer and see who wrecked. Go brush on some more sauce every so often, and turn them... (just whenever you get up for another beer is fine). Make sure to check and see if you have enough beers left throughout the cooking process, if you get low, call up a buddy and tell him that you're making wings, so he needs to get his tail over here with some of his girlfriends... and bring more beer. The wings are done when you run out of pretzels to eat with your beer, or when your buddy arrives, whichever is sooner. ymmv.
  3. Ya' did good. It was very informative, identified well with NRA members interests, provoked good throught and hopefully future intitiative, paid due homage to everyone's favorite tactical trainer, and involved some awesome barbeque!
  4. Her voice is really annoying... but yeah, 10 years ago, with the TV on mute, she probably sold a ton of pools.
  5. My Willow Tree out front is dying... probably going to have to top it this fall. Definitely need some rain.
  6. Once again, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to make it... if it's at On-Target though, the odds would be excellent, since a 45 minute drive is much more reasonable than spending more time driving round-trip than shooting, somewhere up past Nashville.
  7. I could see the trigger-guard on a P239 being difficult to make work with the SERPA latch, because of its shape. Probably not worth the necessary modifications to the design, for the small demand it probably has. Just one of those things...
  8. How common it is for non-violent felons to be restored? I wouldn't expect the number to be very high... but I suppose ya' never know. This legislation seems to me to be a waste of taxpayer dollars, for the time spent on it.
  9. From what I've seen... the guys who badmouth the SERPA because of one, maybe two actual reported malfunctions, are the same guys who swear by Glocks and dismiss the idea that they are unsafe because of 'only' a few hundred leg shootings and kBs... Kinda funny, actually, if you think about it. I love mine.
  10. I dig thunderstorms. Very relaxing.
  11. That's what the tactical wheel-barrow is for.
  12. Hey, at least it's not a Glock rifle...
  13. I intend to do that once I shoot the rest of these (I bought 200rd)... but for the time being I'll just concentrate on putting two or three right on top of one another, to maximize the penetration depth They really scream coming out of the 5" barrel on my Tactical... something like 1400fps. Not ideal, but I'm sure it'd still hurt. I'm actually leaning more towards Double-Tap's 147gr load...
  14. Your license plate and stickers should be getting there any day now
  15. Though I could never advocate breaking any law... the value of one's life is always above the value of a law. I prefer to avoid places which present that conflict, but acknowledge that sometimes it is an unavoidable decision.
  16. I prefer to make my own wings... on the BBQ, the way God intended. Can't stand the slimy stuff most places serve.
  17. I love England... they make me feel proud to be an American.
  18. I would expect not...
  19. Few quality firearms actually need much more lubrication than WD-40 provides (which is indeed very minimal)... but if you know that yours does like to run a bit wet, there are many options for grease and oil to provide necessary lubrication. For instance... if I carried a 1911, I would certainly have a little bit of grease on the slide-rails and locking lugs.
  20. The FBI uses 10mm submachineguns (MP5/10s) There are plenty of calibers which offer nearly the same effectiveness as 10mm, from a handgun... but if one wants to carry it, and doesn't mind paying a little more for practice ammo, it's really not as punishing to shoot as some make it out to be... even the heavy DT loads. If you can handle a .40s&w in a subcompact, you can handle 10mm in a mid/full-size gun.
  21. Dang... I live here and didn't even know about that place. I'll be stopping by this week ASAP. Thanks!
  22. I use it when cleaning my guns... it's certainly not a heavy lubricant, but since my XDs run better when mostly dry anyways, it's a no-brainer. It is one of the best anti-corrosion sprays out there, and as long as you don't drench your gun in it, it will never build up to cause a problem. The nice thing is, you can get it anywhere cheaply, it doesn't fumigate the area you are working in with horrible/acrid odor, and it doesn't leave an oily residue when it dries... but it leaves a light waxy coating, sort of a dry-lubricant in a solvent solution. I haven't found anything that works better, and it's never proven to be worse (unless used in a way which any solvent/lubricant would gunk something up).
  23. Don't have a 340, but I can vouch for the reliability and performance claims of Double-Tap... though I haven't used it on a living target, thankfully. Their stout .38spl +p load would be a good choice... so would any of their .357mag loads, too, if you could hang onto it (those suckers hurt at both ends, even out of most steel guns)
  24. I'm generally not a fan of 115gr 9mm JHP performance... but in order to retain good velocity out of the 3" barrel, I stoke my XD-9 SC with Georgia-Arms 115gr Gold-Dot +p+ cartridges. With a longer barrel, I would lean towards a 124gr load... my personal preference being Gold-Dot bullets, but I've heard good things about Federal HSTs, as well.
  25. The surest way to down the skeet is to ensure they never get airborne...
