We used a fish feeder on a timer when we went on vacation. It worked great. Got it from Wal-Mart for about $12.

I'm trying to convince my wife to let me retire when she gets out of nursing school. She ain't going for it. It's really a shame too because I think that I'd be really good at being retired. Better than I've been at any of my jobs anyway.

I had a friend that drove. His company had been jerking him around for quite a while. After being on the road for several weeks continuously and being promised some time off for the past 3 weeks, yet being assigned more loads, he pulled into a truck stop one day. Mind you this is pre cell phone era. He walks into the truck stop hands the attendant the keys to his truck and asks to use the phone. He calls his boss and says "I quit, you need to come pick up your truck in XXX, the truck stop attendant has the keys." His boss' reply was "You can't do that." To which he replied "I just did, have a nice day." He wound up riding a Greyhound cross country to get home and didn't drive so much as a car for the next 5 years.

What a day, glad you two came out unscathed

I wouldn't throw it away if it was given to me but I have zero interest in owning the gun simply on the basis that it was used in a mass shooting. IMO anyone who would want to own a gun simply because it was used to kill people is sick in the head. I would have no issue owning a gun that was used to take a life, but the fact that it did so would not add any appeal for me.

Your signature line makes it even better!

Whatever kind you like, camo is for the hunter not the deer.

I've bounced around this state all of my adult life. Been in Blount County for the past 4 years and love it, here. No where else in Tennessee that I'd rather be.

Wife either didn't notice the disassembled motor on the table or didn't say anything. My plan was to swap out the top end from another engine. I took that engine apart this morning only to realize that I had a bad piston in it. So, everything in the kitchen is cleaned up and the wife will be none the wiser. I also finally filled up the 55 gallon aquarium that I got last week. I'll let it acclimate for a couple of weeks before putting some fish in there.

I disassembled a dirt bike engine on the kitchen table. In my defense we have two dining tables in our house and this is not the one we eat at. Plus I put cardboard down first and it was the table that I brought into the marriage. My wife will be home shortly, if you guys don't hear from me for a while she broke my computer or buried me in the backyard.

After years of switching between a Glock 23 and a 27, occasionally switching to a 642, and throwing a 1911 in about once a month for fun I picked up a Taurus TCP a few months ago and wish that I had a long time ago. Not a hiccup out of it and it shoots much nicer than the LCP. Being a .380 it has its limitations but I don't mind carrying it a bit, I forget it is there.

Thanks for that tip. I have a 10 gallon now that I've had for about a year and a half containing 3 fancy goldfish. They have really outgrown the tank and I'm thinking about just moving them to the bigger tank. That said. I've always had a problem with algae in that tank. I've scrubbed and used aglicide but it always comes back with a vengeance. Would it be a bad idea to introduce gravel from the old tank to the new tank with that algae in it? I would like to do everything I can to keep it out of the new tank. I can't imagine how hard that thing would be to clean.

At the same time I made sure that no one stole our couch. Just thought I'd see what it's like to be part of the "other half" for a day.

That would be cool to have a fish that eats other fish. That's a little more exciting than a bunch of guppies.
-
Hey all, I've had tanks before but never anything bigger than 20 gallon. I ran across a steal on a 55 gallon the other night and picked it up. Trying to do a little research, I still don't even know what I to put in it. I'm leaning towards goldfish or something that is big and aggressive. I'd like to not use a tank heater. So what do you have?

HVAC guy finished up putting a new system in our house this morning, I spent the day testing it.

Man detained for carrying shotgun in Gallatin.
10-Ring posted a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Although I'd say it's not the smartest thing to do. I honestly don't even see why this is news. The man broke no laws. Probably treading on Kwik territory here but as long as law abiding citizens are being detained I think we have a problem. Awfully harsh and judgmental thing to say about a young man trying to secure employment. I know when I worked at Walmart and Sears they both had the same policy and I broke them daily at each store I just didn't tell anyone. The policy isn't in place because the business is anti. They put the policy in place because it is a liability to the company if an employee was ever to shoot a customer be it accidentally, on purpose, or while taking down an active shooter. The employee, in the eyes of the courts is an agent of the company so it sets the company up for an easy lawsuit.

I think it's amusing that there is a local pro gun group that routinely has meetings of 100+ members and the Daily Times will not give them any coverage. Yet DMA has 12 fat aces show up for a cook out requiring 1 and a half packs of hotdogs and it warrants a story. The Daily Times has always sucked and been horrible at reporting anything, and likely always will.

Now my Comcast is acting funny. running around .1 Mbps.

So glad I have Comcast. Yup, never thought that I'd say that.

It has worked wonders for me. I went camping a couple of months ago, out it all over myself Friday evening, didn't reapply or shower until Sunday and didn't have any bites. I used to have to apply bug spray daily at my old job and started using the SSS because I didn't want to put deet on my skin everyday. I guess nothing is going to work on everyone though.

I just went out and tried to pick the garden, okra mostly, because I have a bunch of it and if you don't pick okra approximately every two hours it gets about a foot long. So I'm wearing a long sleeve tshirt because if I don't I return from the okra fields looking like I've been rolling around in concertina wire. I started picking okra, and what I thought were crows with fangs, but turned out to be mosquitoes, started attacking me. I didn't know humans could loose that much blood so quickly and survive. I came in and sprayed my legs in Skin So Soft, I've never seen a mosquito anywhere around me while wearing SSS, because not even mosquitoes can stand the smell of it, but that only slowed them down a little bit. After getting the okra picked I came back inside and rehydrated and replenished my blood supply with Natural Light. Currently I'm hiding inside with the AC and a ceiling fan but soon I will have to venture back outside because a little while ago I shoved a can of beer up a chickens butt and that's on the grill now.
