  1. I smoked pot for years, even after I was a "grown up."  (Actually didn't be, come a regular user until I was in my late 20's)  Usually daily, sometimes several times per day if I was say just working around the house and not doing anything dangerous or not going anywhere.  Eventually I had to stop due to my job.  Believe it or not there are high functioning people out there that smoke pot, while holding down a full time job, paying a mortgage, raising kids, and going to church on Sundays, I guarantee this applies to several who will read this.  I was no more ashamed to be a pot smoker than I was to drink a beer after work.  I'm certainly not saying that it is fine to smoke pot and handle guns, but to prohibit a person who smokes pot from owning or carrying a gun makes as much sense as prohibiting the same from a person who occasionally drinks a beer or a glass of wine.  It's all about control that is 100% why marijuana isn't legal.   On a related note, I recently had to fill out an ATF form for work and it asked if I was addicted to "alcohol, drugs, or other stimulants."  Only thing that I have an addiction to in this world in caffeine, I'm just a moron until I get about 4 cups of coffee in my system each day.
  2. Love that place, we shop Ollie's first around here.  I've seen gun books there several times.
  3. Bet there was no place for people to work on that road.   How much fun would it have been to taunt the guys that built the road with "you didn't build that!"   A road like that must have been full of potholes, if it was paved at all.   Just the first few thoughts that I had about it.
  4. Probably 1/2 the price at TSC anyway.
  5. Hence my previous answer.  I'm tired of trying to explain things to stupid people who will never get it anyway.
  6. I don't think the manufacturer is your problem here.  Ruger has a good reputation with dealing with these things.  If it were me I'd go down to the store you dropped it off at with your receipt, ask to speak to the manager and tell them that you want your gun or proof that it has been shipped to Ruger NOW.  I would then seek legal action.
  7. Not saying that it is, just saying I'd be sure that it isn't before pulling the trigger.
  8. No way am I messing with grey market equipment or letting anyone but Canon touch my gear.  I bought a 1D Mark IV off of Amazon last year and the review screen on the back of the camera had been replaced, very poorly.  I sent it in to Canon as soon as I got it and got everything straitened out.  The people at Canon couldn't believe someone had done that.  You may want to get a CPS membership (Canon Professional Services) I always run serials through them before I purchase anything to make sure it's not grey market.  If you use your camera much it will goes down, mine gets sent in for repair about twice per year on average.  My experience has been that Canon makes the best repairs to it's own products, yet they will not service grey market equipment.
  9.   I've never been a big JD fan myself.  I mowed commercially for about 7 years and owned a 48" JD walk behind.  It was always a good machine but parts were expensive.  Having owned several different kinds of commercial mowers I've never been a fan of residential grade tractors, I much prefer a walk behind or Z-turn.  Well my FIL gave me his "old" JD tractor this spring and I will have to say that it has one of the best cuts of any mower I have ever used.  I'll also say that it is built much better than the cheaper brands of mowers.  Of course I do all maintenance myself and to the dismay of my FIL I will not be using JD oil, spark plugs, etc.  It will get Mobil 1 just like everything else in my garage.  I figure the parts are more expensive but I will buy less of them and spend less time working on the mower so I'm okay with it.  Of course I did have to get a free mower to realize this.

    Plasti Dip

I did my wife's hubcaps last night and for the most part I was very satisfied.  This was my first plastidip project but certainly not my last.  I was under the impression that imperfections would be easier to cover up with the plastidip than spray paint, but that is not true at all.  The big advantage that I see over spray paint is that the finish is much smoother when done correctly.  I did two wheels at a time and spent a lot more time sanding the second two and got better results.  I only sanded them because the finish was flaking off.  If you do get an imperfection just let it dry, don't try to rub it out and reshoot that part it will make things worse.  Also seems that like paint, a few small coats will give you better coverage than a heavy coat.
  11. We've done some business with them at work but it's been heavy equipment.  They seem to have a tendency to over diagnose and oversell parts, by that I mean that there is often a cheaper way to properly fix a problem, yet they will make sure you leave there shop spending as much money as you can.  I know that's just business but that's not the kind of friendly service that keeps me coming back.  Hope yo get a new motor out of it, seems like it had to be an over sight on their part that caused the problem.
  12. Well there always has to be that guy that comes in and poops on a thread, I'll be that guy for this thread.  I've eaten at several different Puleo's, I've found their food to be mediocre and their prices to be quite high.  Service has been so-so.  One in Alcoa seems to stay empty, O'Charleys and  Texas Roadhouse next door will be packed and there will be 3 cars in the Puleo's parking lot.
  13.   I know this is the world we live in, if I make it to say 90 I might go finance me a fancy bass boat for 15 years. I'm sorry but that is nothing but stupid.  Besides I like aluminim boats I can actually fish out of and bang around on rocks and logs because that seems to be where the big fish are anyways.
  14. I guess that explains why I got that letter in the mail from Comcrap the other day offering me a free modem upgrade.  On a related note is there any tinfoil left at the grocery store or did you guys buy it all up?
  15. Live traps are pretty easy to be successful with but...  If you plan to release them else where after catching them plan on driving for a while.  I've heard you need to go as far as 40 miles and I've personally seen them show back up after taking them 10 miles.
  16. Awesome bikes, and you don't need the car now.  I ty to do most of my traveling by bike.  I find it much more enjoyable and even comfortable to travel by bike than car.  If you are going to get serious about it you will have to drop some money on high quality gear.  It hurts the wallet but the stuff they have out today is so good that I have ridden hundreds of miles below freezing and in pouring rain for hours and been completey comfortable.
  17. I just picked a TCP up today for $150.  Never cared much for Tauruses and you can find that in previous posts on this forum.  I'm convinced that there are good Tauruses and bad Tauruses and I bought mine knowing that it is a good one because it came from a trusted friend.  I really do like the trigger pull on it.  I knew another guy who had one and he had a lot of problems out of it.  Much like the OP until today Taurus was on my do no buy list.
  18. Nah, you're in Tennessee now, no need to keep trailer lights in working order, turn signals are optional as well.  :taunt:
  19. I wouldn't like it, I wouldn't do it, personally I wouldn't feel comfortable around that sort of thing.  However, I say to each his own.  The reward doesn't seem worth the risk to me, but we all do our own things.  I've done things in other hobbies that many people would just shake their heads at.
  20. I've bought and sold many motorcycles over the years.  No title is a usually a deal breaker for me, but...  There is a loophole, The State of Tennessee will issue you a title if the fair market value of your vehicle is less than $3,000.  Haven't tried it yet but know a couple of people who have successfully.  Sounds like just what you need!  Does go without saying though, proceed with extreme caution when a title is missing.  Here is the form  https://www.tn.gov/revenue/forms/titlereg/f1310401Fill-in.pdf
  21. Dang old Shelby County skewing the scale again.

    Advice needed

Sounds like you pretty much have it down.  Look on the airlines website for specific information.  IIRC you can pack ammo in your luggage again but check for yourself, don't take my word on it.  If I were you I would print out the airlines poicies and carry them with you when you arrive for your flight, just in case you have any problems.  I'd think it goes without saying but you do have to declare your firearm when you check the baggage.  Also I believe the gun has to be in a locked container inside your luggage, to which you have the key
  23.   I think it's just redundancy for staying safe and a matter of being prepared.  Same reason I keep a fire extinguisher in my kitchen.  I don't plan on their being a fire but if there is one I want to be prepared.    I get what the others are saying though. it's kind of like "Just because I carry a gun doesn't mean I'm going to walk the dark alleys in the bad part of town at 2 a.m."
  24. I'm not saying thatI have all the answers but I think that what I do works well.  I carry most everywhere I go, if I open carry I do so in a place where it's not gong to get people riled up.  If a business is not posted, yet not known to be a progun establishment I conceal.  It's working, I can carry almost everywhere I need to go and the soccer moms don't all excited at the grocery store because they don't know there is a gun 4 feet away from them.  Their ignoranc is bliss for us both.
