I’m with JustEd. A good comp gives lighter bang for the weight. But not so easy to add on a revolver And I’m a comp fan but not a ported barrel fan. I’ll download before I poke holes in top of barrel. Pros and cons to everything. If it’s a run of the mill pistol round your pokin holes so drop caliber is an option too.

Agree. I just can’t own one other then 26/27/42 subcompact frames. Tried compact and full size several times then sold off. When I went back I moved to gen2 Timberwolf frames for my 21 and 23 models. They work for me and keep simplicity of a Glock

Do-It-Yourself Holster from Gallon Milk Jug
ohell replied to jgradyc's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
that pistol has a gold barrel and a fancy laser. this is not the time to start recycling. -
yep. I had dedicated 40 s&w barrel. but 10mm chamber works if you clean. Owned 20, 29, the rock island 10mm, s&w310 - all gone. Found the 29 hard to time with hot loads. If you’re going the route of top velocity with long shot, 800x or heavy boutique ammo a red dot or rowlanator rear sight with recoil spring increase is the way to go. If you’re gonna run a comp buy a G20 and chop or Timberwolf short grip frame. I got tired of destroying brass with hot loads and moved on. Stay middle of the road and skip the off the shelf range ammo unless you need brass because it ant far from forty. and ppu brass was crap.

Something to be proud of by the maker and the buyer. a man could stick that in a commie and call it a good life

for the love of 45acp I’ve spent some time on this. I go back to cmmg for radial blowback to meditate recoil and bcg weights for tuning with ability to run 45acp to heavy 45 super loads. Plus b&t ghm45 doesn’t have Glock mag option. Have 6.6” barrel pistols so never pulled trigger because it would be a toy; another at caliber would be choice for serious work. There is a non braced 1.2k cmmg option, add your own. If you’re considering for serious work consider a short barrel rifle caliber in ar because you can throw similar lead with less recoil, less gas in face and close ammo costs at todays price then a 45acp blowback. I wouldn’t make any decision based on August. If you’re a brace person buy a brace before then and add to whatever. Expecting a grandfather clause is silly these days. They’ll make felons out of people with the rule or expect build to adhere to tally sheet limiting options. Learn to cheek weld and forget the brace. don’t let my comments ruin your fun. sharing my conclusion on a serious want I’ve sidestepped for a while.

Looking for the "perfect" property carry gun...for snakes and other critters.
ohell replied to TennGunner's topic in Handguns
It’s against the law to kill any snake native to TN. Unless you pull the ole “it’s coming right for me”. Most are harmless and want to be left alone. don’t get fancy posting your trophy on social media -
I have several of those. Thanks for not skipping over. Lots of info on here.

Who says .45 ACP is not popular anymore?
ohell replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I’ve seen 45 acp in Davidson county; a blue county in regards to politics. Maybe people that live in tall skinny own 45acp. -

ohell replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
You need to shop in a blue county until things get better. That where more less then men live and 45acp around with gas prices the brass exchange has 500 piece dirty for $46.50 plus ship -

Best Place to buy Reloading Supplies
ohell replied to DraxTheDad's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Sticky thread probably still a good place to start. Right now I get it wherever it’s in stock -
add to gregintenn’s list. bullet puller. Helped me most when new because crimp is hard to comprehend. I still set crimp, measure for some reason and then pull bullet- inspect jacket/coating……. Measure all you want, but nice to see if you’re overdoing it. Plus comes in handy to pound out left over ammo after a kaboom. case gauge - you do you and unlike other rounds I don’t gauge all my 9mm but I have one to spot check Time - seems a fair amount sell off reloading equipment after events like we’re in now because no time or desire after the dust settles. Equipment? try gunblue490 on YouTube. Not the most exciting bloke to watch but he has old upload, four part series on hand loading. Quite a bit of knowledge shared on this channel A+ Johnny’s reloading bench my be more then your interested in, good rifle content and conversations in live streams

cheap is relative term. I don’t see anything “cheap” worth a chance today but pay little attention. S&W night guard series about doubled in a few years, because discontinued. Look for things like this. Uzi pro is probably a good one today. Out there new, but recently discontinued. Three years from now someone will pay more then you paid today because everyone can’t get one. “Cheap” hoard ammo and primers until the next shf. I sold off my 7.62x39 8M3 for fair today’s price. Probably never see 8m3 rounds again but it’s kind of internet hype, there’s better options IMO

If you store primer in pocket of brass tube it’s no longer hazmat item. Combine that with no powder storage limit you’re good.

Is smokeless powder designed for use in small arms ammunition subject to the explosives storage requirements? Español Smokeless powders designed for use in small arms ammunition are exempt from regulation under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 40 and the regulations in 27 CFR Part 555. Packaging that readily identifies the smokeless powder as being designed for use in small arms ammunition may help in determining whether it is entitled to the exemption. Smokeless powder designed for use other than in small arms ammunition, and explosive products such as squibs, fireworks, theatrical special effects, or other articles that may contain smokeless powders, are regulated and must be stored pursuant to the regulations at 27 CFR 555, Subpart K – Storage. It should be noted that persons engaged in the business of importing or manufacturing smokeless powder designed for any use must have a Federal explosives license. Further, importers of smokeless powder designed for use in small arms ammunition must also possess an ATF firearms importers license (Type 08 or 11); must register with ATF under the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act; and must submit (to ATF) and receive an approved ATF Form 6 – part I (5330.3A), Application and Permit for Importation of Firearms Ammunition and Implements of War. Last Reviewed October 4, 2018 pasted from aft.gov thats all I need to read on this. It’s in the faq and they can’t expect anyone reading faq to look up a regulation. No limit

Atomic Tactical makes 112 grain subsonic 223 that cycles on YouTube. Expensive. Rifle length 1:7 barrels appear to lower keyhole frequency. Wild ballistic gelatin results adjustable gas won’t increase pressure vs good non adjustable. But yes I’ll be using from the other setup before wasting more $ then I need. Using superlative armsGB, faxon LW bcg and yellow to white springco. Assuming changing to pistol length gas port is better option - access to higher pressure and +1” dwell time in the 10.5”. can only find in 1:7 twist which isn’t preferred, Trying to do pistol barrel length 5.7x28 to under with various bullets- varmint to slower 62 grain plinker. Powder option right now limited to 5744, maybe try H4895. I’ve never used fillers and don’t need with 5744 but may need to look into fillers on some powders figured someone here was casting 223 and had been down this path.

I’ll go ahead and answer the question…. because it’s there and don’t want to pick up another caliber Anyone around here ever go down this road? Not looking for subsonic, that an’t going to happen and I can borrow wife’s bolt action 223 if I want single pew. Before I ream gas port on decent 12.5” carbine length I think I’m going to pick up cheap pistol length gas port 10.5”, seems like the better option

Kudos to the ole American consumer marketing wank trick. The toys are us and we don’t even know.

Sealed container with desiccant pack. I store most of mine disassembled. It never gets any cheaper, purchased for pew pew when I had extra funds. Live in newer house with lots of light = poor defense position. Really only need a battle pack that can be carried and luck I’ll find it laying around. If you have property you better store some in the ground or sealed in wall so you might have it after some random person you for color of your shoes or a post online with perception you’re building an arsenal. My glass is always half full.

Make a fun project with a 80% lower until you find seller agreeable to transfer under federal age or can ffl purchase. No way you suggest someone purchase firearm to find out they don’t like it offer to sell to you. If someone had to look short term ownership could look like straw purchase. Proving is another story, but the punishment is in the process.

Anybody ever load any heavy +P .45 ACP?
ohell replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I’d think you would be better off with a faster powder in a fixed barrel blowback action pistol. Not clays or #2 fast but titegroup to #5 range.
