  1. Good, in fact maybe excellent!  If it can bring about a lawsuit that would help bring sensible gun control to it's knees.  I feel bad for the thousands of people stuck being not able to buy a gun.
  2. I guess I am confused.  I understand the bill of rights limits the government not the people / states.  Let's have a nice discussion about it.       "...in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers..."  The framers said we need the bill or rights to prevent abuse not by the people, but by the government.  Criminals already carry their guns, knives, bats, and whatever else they see fit.  They do so without fees, permits, or required training.  Why shouldn't we do the same?  Is the problem that we have a rash of accidental and / or negligent discharges?     "...shall not be infringed..." is simple and I don't believe we need to discuss that part.  Although maybe we should.     "...are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people..." says we, the people / states, tell the federal government what it can do in every other thing not mentioned.  We should be working hard every year to get closer to that point.  I'd say that bill is a step in the wrong direction because in effect it asks the federal government for permission.       I would appreciate your comments or rebuttals on these points.
  3. I forgot about UPS being very difficult when shipping anything firearm related.  I will give my business to Going Postal in Clarksville.  I think I'll use the nested boxes method with bubble wrap, but I'm tempted to do the PVC trick.  I've used it in the past for other delicate items and never had an issue, except for the recipient getting a little scared when he opened the boxes and thought I shipped him some pipe bombs.     Thanks for all the info gents.
  4. Thanks!  As soon as ya'll mentioned nested boxes the light bulb went off.  I'll start looking for some boxes the right size and buy a roll or two of bubble wrap.  Again thanks.
  5. I'm about to put a scope up for sale, but I want to have a solid game plan on how to ship it in case a face to face deal isn't possible.     Does anybody out there have a solid method for shipping a scope?  I don't have a factory box so I'm concerned with it making the trip through UPS or USPS unscathed.
  6. I was really hoping this was going to be a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
  7. Had a great morning today. Went coyote hunting with a good buddy. Didn't call one in, but it was great to watch the morning unfold over the field we were on. Hopefully we will get out there again next weekend. Anybody else hunt this morning?
  8. Just signed up for a 1 year.  I really appreciate this forum.
  9. Come on final design and full scale production of American Rifle Company Mausungfield long actions!
  10. You should really give him his car back if you find it.
  11. Dale Fricke Archangel is what I've used for 4 years , no complaints.
  12. I'm taking my first civilian handgun course that weekend.  Later or earlier in the year and I'd be interested.
  13. 6.5 works great for me.  I've shot a few competitions and always do well with it.
  14. This close up shows why I prefer the dremel to the wood burner. It is very easy to get the heat setting wrong which melts the Glock frame more than I like. It still makes for a good grip, but not worth the effort in my opinion.
  15. Why does a K baffle design lend itself better to pistols? I'm still learning myself.
  16. I have a dedicated .22lr can because it is half a pound lighter than my 5.56 can (4.1 oz vs 12 oz + mount) .  It is rated for more than .22lr, but that's all I use it for.   I bought a CZ 452 rifle and had the barrel cut down to 16" and threaded by a local gunsmith.  I only shoot without the can on to demonstrate the difference to other people.  A bolt action rifle is a simple and reliable host and I prefer that.     DO NOT SHOOT 5.56 THROUGH A .22LR CAN.  The pressures and gas volume are not the same.
  17. I would think 4 people attacking would be better than 1 person attacking and 3 moving to cover (which likely doesn't exist in your home). Women can and should attack just as you would. Even throwing the first thing they find in their hands into an attackers face would buy you time to draw and shoot. Remember that loosing a home invasion fight likely is worse for women than men. I don't have a daughter, but I'd much rather my son be murdered in a violent counter attack attempting to save his family than get raped and then get murdered without any opposition. Teach your kids to be vicious warriors and fight dirty. If the 15 year old can't help attack she should be on her phone to 911 as it is likely already glued to her hand while moving to a trauma kit. But that's just me. In the end it's your family and I think you are doing great just having a weaponized mind and keeping defensive tools in easy reach.
  18. Here you go. I don't care about patterns on my guns so it doesn't look real pretty, but if you took your time it would look killer. This is the one I used a Dremel on. I also have one I did with a wood burner. I like the Dremel better between the two.
  19. I'll second the comment that you can do it! I like a Dremel tool more than a soldering iron or wood burner though. Practice on some magazine bases or Pmags and you will be good to go. Heck if that guy falls through I'll even help you do it.
