  1. No information about the repair was provided to me. I shot 64 rounds today to zero and function check the weapon. So far so good.
  2. It's wicked simple.  What reduction are you looking to get done?
  3. My RMR showed up from Trijicon today.  I have installed and function checked it as best as I can without going to the range.  I'm not exactly sure what they did, but I noticed new internals in the battery compartment area when I was looking it over.  In addition the windage and elevation clicks are more pronounced now.  I suspect I have the equivalent of a refurbished unit with my same housing.  The serial number and "character" marks are the same.  I will keep a round count on this optic to see how long this one lasts.     Range report to follow.
  4. I bought my CZ 452 from Guns and Leather after selling my 10/22. It was a good move. The 10/22 was more fun, but the 452 is a better rifle for me. I use it to practice good fundamentals each week out of my garage and warm up with it before shooting my big rifle. I put a Pride Fowler RR-22-1 on top and I really can't imagine a better scope for a .22LR. With this combination I like to shoot pieces of left over clay pigeons at the Cheatham WMA rifle range.
  5. I can't believe no one has gotten this right yet.  The answer is scavenger hunt.  Most guns can be taken apart into 5 - 10 major pieces.     If this ever happens to you, you must understand that you only have moments to act.  Be swift!  The person who left the gun will be coming back any minute.  You need to finish your business ASAP and get out of the bathroom with most of the weapon in you possession.  Attach a note with your drop phone, phone number and wait for the call.  Realize the person on the other end of the phone is going to be very upset and might argue with you when you give them the 10 digit grid or lat/long of the next piece their weapon.  If they are too angry to record the number I recommend texting it to them.  They aren't going to the police, they aren't telling anyone.  You want the locations you pick for their gun parts to be fun, yet challenging.  Remember you are trying to change this person forever to ensure they don't do this sort of thing ever again.      Examples of good hiding spots include; Inside anything with wasps or thorns or both. Tall places such as radio antennas. Under heavy things like big rocks or junk cars. Underwater is always a classic, especially if the water is cold or swamp-like. Middle of nowhere like a corn field in Kansas.     There really is no wrong place to hide a gun part from someone who left their gun in a bathroom.  Use your creativity and if possible video tape the last piece being retrieved.  However, avoid in person contact with the guy or gal that just recently reacquainted with their complete firearm as they are likely to be sorta mad at you.
  6. 100 rounds per week from my carry pistol.  The range is right down the road from the Publix I buy my groceries at so I usually go to the range and then buy groceries for the week.  It is only a square range so I don't get the best practice, but something is better than nothing.  Once my membership is up this year I'm going to switch to an outdoor range where I can do movement and draw from my holster.
  7. I don't remember good doctors much because I guess I'm too young, but I'll buy drinks for any combat medic I come across.  I think those guys and gals are about as good as it gets when it comes to customer service.  I've never been let down by a doc, even though I've wanted to choke out a few Dr's.
  8. That's rough.  Dogs are about the best friend a person could hope for.  I'll be thinking about Bogey the rest of the week and I'll make sure I take my dog out to sniff a few bushes for him at Dunbar Cave this weekend.
  9. Jeff Walle at Guns and Leather in Greenbriar is a good gunsmith and a super nice guy.  He has threaded two rifle barrels for me.  I'm not 100% sure he can thread a choke tube, but I would not hesitate to give him a call.
  10. I bought a Magpul BEV block yesterday from Tactical Edge in Clarksville for about $50.    Used it to hold my upper while I removed the rail and adjusted the size of the gas ports on my gas block.  It did a great job and I like it much more than my old upper receiver vise block.     If anyone needs a device to hold an AR upper or lower to work on it, I would recommend this product, but I would wait to find it on sale.
  11. No first hand experience, but I'm also interested.
  12. Ted S. nailed it.  If your gun works don't mess with it.    Go to the range, shoot a bunch of different ammo with different magazines and you will find out if you have an issue.  If your gun doesn't work, go back to the spring that used to work.       If you just like to tinker then an AR-15 can be a ton of fun.  Playing with BCG weight, buffer weight, spring power, gas port size, gas system length, ammo type, and barrel length all can be used to tune the machine to work better (or worse).
  13. There are some parts you can very easily polish at home in a few minutes to get a better trigger feel.  Plenty of YouTube videos on the 10 cent trigger job.  This might help you out.       I also tend to shoot low and left with my Glock 19 if I don't practice frequently with iron sights.  I try to think about applying pressure inwards with my hands as opposed to the push pull method in addition to a straight trigger pull.  There really is no wrong way to shoot as long as you are getting the hits you need in the time you want.    A 6-8" group in the high center mass area while firing in bursts of 5ish rounds very quickly is my goal.   That should hit vitals and give me a 3-4 inch buffer for less than ideal positions.     Good luck with your new gun.
  14. Man that sucks.  Have you ever purposefully mounted a scope offset and then gone to the range to see how much impact it has on scope tracking at say 100 meters?   Sounds like an interesting experiment to me.  If there is any interest in this I will be doing the scope mount and zero thing soon.
  15. Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) AR pistols rock.     Check out the lowers at the following link.     http://www.gwacsarmory.com     All they have to do is alter the mold to omit the stock, but leave the receiver extension and boom legal AR-15 pistols even if they spend political capita on a reclassification, which means we might be able to get something for nothing.  American ingenuity supporting freedom wins again.   I suspect we would see many similar products come to market to fill the market demand.     Also, the value of pre-change AR pistols could skyrocket just like pre-dealer sample machine guns.     "We", the responsible firearms owners community, should still probably prevent "them", the emotionally biased anti-gun community, from gaining any ground.  Furthermore, it might be good defense to demand an end to the 1934, 1968, and 1986 gun control acts.  The 1994 act was allowed to end, why not the other three?
  16. Forgive my ignorance, but how is the restriction imposed?  Is there an embedded GPS or cellular device that can tell where the drone is located?  I honestly know very very little about these little drones.  They seem cool though.
  17. Thank you for posting this AAR.  Great to hear about another TN company offering quality training.
  18. That is a really nice looking knife.  Very similar to the CRKT Dragon I carry, but yours has a much higher end look to it.  Congrats.
  19. I recently added a multitool to my EDC while my Microtech is in for service. I found a Leatherman Rev and picked it up for a good price locally. So far it is space efficient and the tools are adequate for what they are. When my knife gets back I will stop carrying this and stash it somewhere or maybe give it away to a co-worker.
  20. 1)  The Saint Louis Zoo is legally classified as a tax-supported political subdistrict of the State of Missouri. Essentially, the Zoo is a government agency and has restrictions on how it raises and spends money. The Zoo also has a nonprofit partner, the Saint Louis Zoo Association, dedicated to raising funds in support of the Zoo's mission.     2)  During the primary election last year, Missouri voters saw the following option in their ballots.   "Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to include a declaration that the right to keep and bear arms is a unalienable right and that the state government is obligated to uphold that right?"   60% voted Yes and now Article I, Section 23 of the Missouri state constitution reads as follows:   That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, ammunition, and accessories typical to the normal function of such arms, in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned.  The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. Any restriction on these rights shall be subject to strict scrutiny and the state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the general assembly from enacting general laws which limit the rights of convicted violent felons or those duly adjudged mentally infirm by a court of competent jurisdiction.   3)  I don't fully understand how Mr. Smith or his actions is/are damaging to gun owners.  From the few minutes of google searching I did, it would seem that the Zoo was not following the Missouri state constitution as amended by voters last year.  He did however accomplish three important things.        A)  Brought media attention to this topic.  If he had not acted, we would not be talking about this right now.      B ) Brought judicial attention to this topic.  Unalienable and strict scrutiny are very powerful words, words that have specific meaning              especially in case law.      C)  Helped to identify the political views of St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson. Dotson is quoted as saying “More guns are never the                answer. I think we need to have stronger gun laws and make sure that they are used in appropriate ways.”   He was dressed well, not in camo or tactical clothing. Hopefully his actions will bring positive outcomes for Missouri citizens both at the zoo and at other locations.
  21. I'm waiting on a form 4 with a trust that I submitted 15 Feb.  Hopefully in the next few weeks.
  22. The package with my RMR was delivered to Trijicon yesterday.  Hopefully this week or the next they can start finding out what is broken with my sight.
  23. Thanks for the advice, I like the idea of a real holster the best. I'm thinking about making my own out of thin Kydex and finding a way to secure it to the purse. I really appriciate the help.
