  1. I was at the local indoor range several years ago, coincidently in the far left lane, when I noticed a massive hunk of lead and copper slowly moving in my direction.  I moved my head to the side and let it go past then picked it up after it hit the back wall.   Showed it to the guy manning the the counter and he said, "Yeah, it happens".      Good example of why eye protection is an absolute must.
  2.   It appears that another simple question has gone off on wild, random tangents.
  3.   The .gov has already bought tremendous amounts of surplus combloc ammo to supply the Afghans and Iraqis.  I'm sure it's all being used appropriately.
  4.   Funny how everytime a LGS gets ragged on around here there suddenly pops up new members singing their praises
  5. If a person moves from another state to Tn. and they bring in a box or 2 of ammo is that person responsible for paying a tax and if so pay it to whom.?  No   Next question what about people that reload, are the rounds they make or components they buy taxed? No tax on your reloads.  Regular sales tax is paid on components when purchased locally.
  6. I think most of it is Russian now. The Czech stuff has not be available for several years,  Romanian and Polish were around a few years ago as well, but not so much now.
  7.   Whatever pal.  You wanna shoot a pig with a pop gun go right ahead.  If I was in the driver's seat I'd be using something that left do doubt.
  8.   I don't know because I've never payed much attention to that caliber or what's going on with it.  I do know that someone in the Nashville area was planning on making 5.45x39 pistols before his shenanigans got the best of him.
  9. Hate to hear you're going through all this Mark.  Especially when you have to give up the things you enjoy and worked hard for.
  10.   I'm pretty sure it's offensive to even think of slanted eyes.  Lord only knows what would happen if your children drew stick figures with flat lines for eyes instead of circles.
  11. Half of a printed email is certainly not much evidence but unless the ammo vendors are in cahoots and just lying about what they've been told (Copes and AIM) then it might just be true. Doesn't really matter now, the damage is done.
  12.   Only if Ronco products, windmills and neon-painted dinosaurs are involved.
  13.   That might be so but is the excuse being given.
  14.   And AIM Surplus has taken the pages down that not too long ago had 10.5" and 11.5 "AR barrels in 5.45x39....that one could make a pistol with.  I hate to throw them under the bus as they're just about the finest online retailer to buy from and have no idea what the current definition of "manufacturing" is as far as the ATF goes but the parts have been out there.
  15. WTH does any of this fishing talk have to do with yet another guvment entity deciding what people can and cannot call things?  Let's try to focus people.
  16.   It's not just you.  I blame myself.  Had on my TN sweatshirt and just took it off.  Maybe the 2nd will be better.
  17. I'm really not a basketball fan but am very excited for where the Vols are right now.  Plus, if I get too excited it will jinx it and they'll loose.
  18. Apparently the term Asian Carp is now offensive to some...probably one or two people.  Now legislation is needed so as to not hurt anyone's delicate feelings.   http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/03/27/minnesota-legislators-consider-renaming-asian-carp/
  19.   Well, that's mighty big of them.
  20. I love PSA but screw that...and screw CCI for charging extra by putting mini-mags in a coonass box like Troy Landry is some kind of somebody.   BTW, that stupid rubber deely-bopper target regulary sells elsewhere for about $20-25 (and that's too much).  You can do the math.
  21.   I don't care.  Businesses that charge that much for .22 need to be remembered.  If they don't want the flack then put up a big-ass sign that says we paid so much for this, and are making this much on it.   I'm not of the mindset that prices are ENTIRELY consumer driven as there are some people with integrity that will sell the same product for a minimal markup just to cover costs and a little something to put in their pocket.  They are called successful and have respect.
  22. I'm using the same plated pills from David and am loading up to the middle of the jacketed bullet range (with Autocomp).  Also, you might want to go a little longer than the OAL listed for the SPR GDHP, 1.150 is a bit more reasonable for a solid nose.  This is just what I do, you of course are responsible for what you do.
  23. So if switchblades are about to become legal where can a fella find a quality, old-school, stiletto-style blade like the punks in 1950's movies carried?
  24. If I ever shoot a hog I want to thump it and thump it hard.  There should be no need to worry about hitting it just right with some puny 22 caliber bullet.  They are big, tough critters and deserve to be brought down hard, just as they've lived.
