Assault Weapons Ban Before U.S. Supreme Court
Moped replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Cant you still get neutered ARs in those states? -
Check at Smokey Mountain Knife Works before you buy it at Bud's. They beat Bud's price quite often.

Hate the ruling! It's going to pave the way for so called "assault weapons" bans in liberal states. BTW, there is already a thread on this here. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91439-assault-weapons-ban-before-us-supreme-court/page-2

Assault Weapons Ban Before U.S. Supreme Court
Moped replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This was not a good thing for us. Obviously, the Supremes are going to leave it in the hands of local/state governments to decide what is legal to own. I can a flood of "assault rifle" bans coming down the pike in liberal states, like California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, very, very soon. They just got the green light. -
Thanks LagerHead!!! You are the man!!!

Is there no way to go back and edit a topic title?!?!? Can't believe I did that. It should read "What We Need Is Domestic Disarmament". Sorry about that! :shake:

You all are going to love this article from the Huffington Post! All good Progressives are idiots. Just saying'. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/amitai-etzioni/needed-domestic-disarmame_b_8739712.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

There will be a deductible of some amount. Mine is $500. I learned the hard way about 20 years ago. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

I carry several quality handguns, but I have them secured on me at all times and I would trust an SKS or a mossberg/remington shotgun. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

Security is what gets me. I drive a SUV, so once someone is in, they got what I got. All it takes is one time with the door left unlocked, even for a minute and your rifle is gone. Can't see me jeopardizing one of my good rifles that way. So I'd want something cheap that if it got stolen, I would spaz over it too much. Several years ago, an SKS would have been a good go to rifle for such a situation, but those aren't cheap anymore. Maybe a Hi-point carbine might be the answer or a pump action shotgun. Unless I think there is a SHTF situation coming I doubt I will carry a long arm in my vehicle, just because there is no really good way to secure it. As for using it in a shootout on a road where, unless you are stopped on the side of the road, how are you going to deploy it effectively?

Let us know what you find on your shopping trip. I may go with new sights on my 45C.

Well if you want it now, go with the blue one, since it's in stock.

When my battalion was activated for Desert Storm, the Armorers at Ft. Bragg, took all our 1911s and rebuilt them. They were in great shape when we went to the great sandbox!

Nashville Mayor wasting no time...
Moped replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You supported with your last sentence, what my friend also told me about the fair grounds show in Nashville, but I wasn't going to say anything, since I have never been to a show there and had no personal experience. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk -

Actually, I won't miss it much. The ones I miss are the Kerbela shows, in my younger days. I remember going in there and there would be tables piled with mil surp rifles. That was when you could buy a mil surp M1 carbine for $300 with the real paratrooper stock! Sure wish I'd have purchased a few of those! I've never been a fan of the Jacobs building shows. I was told this week that the City of Knoxville is turning management of Chillhowee park over the the management group that manages the Knoxville Convention Center. And that this group will no longer allow guns shows at the Park, if they legally can. If they can't stop them all together, then they will consider charging a fee for parking. It's my opinion that would pretty much kill a gun show at the Jacobs Building. I know I would not spend $5 or $10 to park and another $10 to get in the show. -

The fact of the matter is there are just so many factories turning these things out. And not nearly enough to replace even half of the of the high voltage transformers in a timely manner. And time will be a thing we need the most of, but won't have. We discussed this at work the day after I posted my initial comment here, and there was general agreement that we were screwed as a nation, if something were to happen like an EMP attack or a huge CME where more than half of the high voltage transformers in this country were destroyed. This is what we do for a living, I might add. We work for most of the large power producers in the country. -
It will be interesting to see if the ARs that were used in this, were California compliant. It would be even more interesting if the ended up Fast and Furious weapons!

I'm not holding my breath that they will call this terrorism. It will be work place violence. Wait and see.

The shooter has been identified as Syed Farook in the LA Times. Foxnews is confirming this. And the other individual's name is similar sounding, but they are not giving that out at this time. Foxnews is also saying that they have heard from LE that they think there were only two suspects. Syed's father is the one that identified his son as a suspect and he described Syed as a devote Muslim.

I got my M&P 45C out of Lay-A-Way at Harvey's Pistol and Pawn here in Knoxville last Friday. It was $416 out the door, brand new! Didn't get to the range this weekend. I hope to get there this weekend!!! Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

As Robert pointed out, transformers are the big problem. Specifically the large 161, 230 and 500kV transformers that our local large utility uses. Replacements take two to three years to manufacture, deliver and install. Depending on the configuration and size, there could be as many as 15 or 20 of these at one power plant. There are also the smaller transformers that reside throughout the power distribution system, that could also have to be replaced. When you take this all into account, It's easily conceivable that parts, if not most of the grid in this country, could be down for 5 to 10 years or longer. These things are not kept on a shelve to be trotted out and installed, when one fails. The bright spot in all this, is that there is movement afoot to protect the grid from a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection), but it won't happen overnight. And I am not sure how this would protect against a large EMP attack, which is what I worry about most. This seems to be more devastating in nature and could affect more infrastructure than a CME. -
If you are looking for an auto look for a used Ruger Mk II. You might find a basic model in your price range. If you are looking for a single action revolver, then look at a Heritage Arms. You should be able to pick a .22LR for less than $200. They also come with a .22mag cylinder for an additional fee. You should be able to find a used H&R 929 or a High Standard Sentinel for around $200. Both are dependable revolvers.

Democrat Claims Paris Terrorists may Have got AKs from U.S.
Moped replied to Pete123's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I joked on FB right after it happened, that the Southern U.S. was being blamed for the Paris Terrorist attacks. Looks like it wasn't a joke. SMH!
