  1. Video   Sorry if this was previously posted.
  2. Got off work early enough on Friday afternoon to go sit in the stand.  About 10 minutes before the sun dropped below the horizon.  I see a huge doe prancing toward me.  Directly at me.   She gets within 30 yards, decides to stop and give me a perfect broad side shot.  I hit her in the kill zone.  She went about 20 yards and dropped.  Yaay, meat in the freezer.   I give her about 15 minutes to make sure she's dead before I approach her, so she doesn't jump up and run away (been burned before).  I roll her over and start to gut her.   "To my surprise, this doe's penis and testicle are staring me in the face.  I take another peek at her/his head.  The antlers had broken completely off. I'm estimating he was 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 years old, not full grown and easily mistaken for a large doe.   I guess he'll be as tender as an old doe.   Didn't hit his heart with the bullet.  However, the lungs were completely vaporized.  The 158 gr 357 JHPs did the trick.
  3. Looks like a job for Tannerite.
  4. I have a plumbing project to do in the garage.  Need to run pipe from the indoor water spigot to the back side of the garage (barn).  You're more than welcome to come over and help! LOL
  5. I recently purchased one.  I shopped for quite a while.   The better machines will have 18" or 20" wide belts.  They walk/jog length will also exceed 50".  Get at least 2HP or greater.  In addition, check the weight rating.  Make sure you buy at least 50 pounds over the weight rating if you plan to jog on it.   There are several brands that build good machines.  Pick one that has the features you want.  Nordic tends to be one of the more overpriced per feature set.   Got mine on sale at Academy.
  6. My wife hunts with a .223.  Shot placement is key.  We opted for Barnes VorTx ammo.  It does a great job.  Haven't lost one yet.
  7. Gold (yellow) delicious apples are self pollenating.  However, if there are cedar trees in the area, make sure to spray the trees for Cedar Apple Rust in the spring and early summer.
  8. I built my smoker using a wood stove and an old metal refrigerator (all metal inside). Found it on craigslist for $25. Cut a hole in the back for the smoke to come in, and a hole in the top for my exhaust with a damper. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  9. +1 on Martin's
  10. MP5Rizzo, definitely aware about baiting laws in TN.  Gun season doesn't start until next month.  I don't bow hunt.
  11. I have been feeding the deer for a few weeks now.     Don't have a game camera to see who's eating the corn.   Decided to sit in the stand for a couple hours last night to see what was going on.   I had 3 does and 3 bucks walk within 30 yards of the stand.   The bucks were small 4, small 5 and LARGE 8 pointers.   I also had 1 groundhog and 1 squirrel that were eating my corn.  I guess they need to get fat too.   No, I don't have pictures.  I forgot to take my camera/cell with me.  Maybe I'll go sit again tonight.     Anyone else just go out and sit prior to the season?
  12. I use tinypic.com
  13. I looks a"maise"ing, or kinda "corn"y.  (my pun on a corn knife)
  14. I have stands on the family farm in KY as well as my neighbor's land in TN (my place isn't big enough to hunt without hitting the sheep or donkeys).  I am READY!  My freezer is empty and tired of buying ground beef at $4 per pound.
  15. Cut holes in the bottom sides and make a hay feeder for goats or sheep. If you dont have goats or sheep, I do. So you should give it to me, as I need a hay feeder. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  16. I have 2 kids in medical school.  I'm broke.
  17. Supply and demand.  Finding a new one (which hasn't been released in over a year) is practically impossible.  They are unicorns.  I couldn't find one at a decent price.  I opted for the Henry instead.   A gently used 357 Marlin lever gun will sell for more than a brand new Marlin 1985GS in 45-70.
  18. Don't know if this one has been posted or not.   Chalk one up for the good guys.   video here   https://video-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hvideo-xat1/v/t42.1790-2/11656343_940548725996782_1426798273_n.mp4?efg=eyJybHIiOjc5MywicmxhIjo2ODB9&rl=793&vabr=441&oh=138ed60f6929123889416616c3dbfbfe&oe=55F83A12
  19. I have hired laborers and the moving help (as mentioned in the other thread). Yes there are crooks out there. However, most are just common folk trying to make a dime. I found someone on craigslist to build a fence for me. I found someone to unload a truck. I found someone to paint my house. Do I have concerns at times, Yes. However, I generally have faith in people until they prove otherwise. Always best to ask for references. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. I have a Henry Big Boy Steel in 357.  I absolutely love it. It is more accurate than I am. I decided on this, rather than the Rossi because the Henry has a side ejection port and makes for easier scope mounting.  I prefer the side loader on the Rossi as to the tube only of the Henry.     The 3 most important factors in my purchase were:   1.  Made in USA 2.  Side ejection makes for better scope options 3.  Smoother action and better feeding.  Heard too many horror stories of Rossi feeding issues.
  21. I would suggest packing the boxes yourself, then going on craigslist to hire some people to load and unload the moving van for you.  Moving companies are TOO expensive for me, unless my employer is paying the move.
  22. I vote for the Ruger LC9S, the newer striker fired compact.  Slightly larger than a "pocket" pistol.  The trigger is awesome compared to the original DAO trigger on previous model of the same pistol.   I have the DAO model.  I bought it 3 months before they released the striker fired model.   EDIT:  Just realized you were only looking for a revolver, ignore above statement.

  24. Gentlemen, here is the proof. Share this photo with your spouse. You're welcome!
  25. Bill and Hillary are at a Yankees home game, sitting in the first row, with the Secret Service people directly behind them. One of the Secret Service guys leans forward and whispers something to Bill. At first, Clinton stares at the guy, looks at Hillary, looks back at the agent, and shakes his head "no". The agent then says, "Mr. President, it was a unanimous request of the entire team, from the owner of the team to the bat boy." Bill hesitates...but begins to change his mind when the agent tells him the fans would love it! Bill shrugs his shoulders and says, "Ho-Kay! If that is what the people want. C'mere Hilly baby..." With that, Bill gets up, grabs Hillary by her collar and the seat of her pants, lifts her up, and tosses her right over the wall onto the field. She gets up kicking, swearing, screaming, "Bill you "!$#@&!". The crowd goes absolutely wild. Fans are jumping up & down, cheering, hooting and hollering, and high-fiving. Bill is bowing, smiling and waving to the crowd. He leans over to the agent and says, "How about that; I would have never believed how much everyone would enjoy that!" Noticing the agent has gone totally pale, he asks what is wrong. The agent replies, "Sir, I said they want you to throw out the  first 'pitch' ".
