  1. The only advice that I can really give that isn't mentioned much of anywhere...all the time and effort is spent making a nice workbench for reloading...make sure that you can use it for other things as well. It is a "duh" thing to many, but is often not stressed enough how nice it is to have a well lighted area that is quiet and familiar to work on other things also. Little projects like rebuilding a carb on a lawnmower, moving a motherboard into a new case, cleaning up some antiques, or fixing something the wife broke is much, much easier when all you have to do is unbolt a press and pull out a toolbox with other specialty tools. 90% of the time it is set up for reloading, but it really is a great thing to have one place in the house that is clean, neat, organized, and easily assessable to use for other projects. Have shown before, but here is mine. The press on the left is held on by clamps, but the one one the right is fastened to a recessed steel plate that is also fitted to hold a vice, mitre box, and grinder.
  2. They aren't tacticool enough for most shooters these days....people don't know what they are missing. It is hard to beat a good .22 revolver.
  3. The sad thing is that the reason that the prices increased over those $7 boxes was an increase in lead prices. Since then the price of lead has tumbled to the lowest it has been in many, many years and the price of that ammo is still high. in other words...the ammo makers are milking us a little also.
  4. Bullseye for cheap target practice...Unique (Or Universal Clays...more modern equivalent) is the best I use for plinkers...2400 for everything else

    44 Special

Love little .44 special 180 grainers with Unique though a full size magnum gun. Light enough to be plinkers, but actually have enough punch to hunt with. They can be reloaded a LOT...have some 44 special brass that I have been using since the 1980's that is still going strong.
  6. It won't work and you will be wasting your time. Also...the bullets are not standard .308. The cases are also are lacquer coated and the stuff will rub off on the die...same with the paint. That is one of the many advantages of brass. Theoretically you can reload them, but it simply isn't worth the trouble. Also...they don't really make carbide dies for cartridges other than straight walled ones.
  7. And this means what...everything else is invalid? Only thing more annoying than a liberal is a grammar nazi.
  8. It is NOT posted at IKEA in Atlanta. You will have no problems unless you OC. Make sure you get there when they open...They have a good breakfast for $1 I love that store!
  9. Geez I hate this man...never mind the fact that, by saying this, he totally blows off the voter as a non entity.
  10. Very few appreciate how much time and skill it takes to do metalwork like that.
  11. Joe...thank you for doing this. Few folks have the horsepower to do things like this and even fewer actually follow through. Everyone here owes you a "thank you" for going out of your way like that
  12. Most people who track rounds don't shoot crazy amounts of ammo (talking 10,000+ per year) Those who do shoot a LOT don't track because it really doesn't matter much. Because they are not like cars...the physical condition is far more important to the value of a gun than "mileage" per se. I can't even guess how many rounds have gone through some of my guns. Even though some of them have around the 100,000 mark they are still in better shape than some people's guns that have under 1,000. It really is a matter of how you care for your guns rather than how much you shoot them.
  13. Pistol wise...they have an arrangement to where they will hand deliver it to a FFL across the state line for $30. For long guns no such arrangement is needed.
  14. I can see where the officer was being brash, but not sure that he did anything illegal. If he did not ask you about being in a gang or your SSN would you have been equally upset about the incident? If I was an officer I would have done exactly the same thing...but a lot nicer
  15. I would say that this one here is a good one CLICK HERE Also a Ruger 95 just went through there You can often find retired 3rd gen S&W guns ...All for around$300. The used revolver market is also wide open at that price point. These days it is uncommon to get a "bad" gun
  16. I have shot many 10/22s and have found that they can produce 1" 50 yards bone stock using non-target ammo. Trigger is often harsh, and the stock screw shoudn't be over torqued. That being said they shoot better than one would think. 2 moa is pretty darn good for any sub $200 gun out of the box.
  17. I actually had a professor at UTC named Tom Payne...very good professor! I believe (it was 10 years ago) he moved to UT-Martin from Chattanooga. Don't know why this is relevant at all...but FYI
  18. Eat at the Sticky Fingers at Hamilton Place (in between mall parking lot and I-75)...you won't be disappointed if you get the dry rub. Almost as good as the best in Memphis.
  19. That looks very nice! You could take that to the next gun show and wouldn't believe the money people would throw at you for that.
  20. I agree...the best way to get them custom/tricked out is to call them directly and go to gunbroker to find a local FFL who only deals with transfers. For $25 they don't get upset with the order because many don't actually sell products that compete with store stock. That is only sound advice, however, for the people that know exactly what they need. many folks don't and are better served by hero gear. Either way...it is sure is about the worst time to start building as everything is scarce, expensive, and uncertain. Wouldn't think it could be this way with the Armalite patent gone and everyone + their mother making lower receivers these days.
  21. Do something she likes to do...a lot. And get to enjoy it. She will notice your effort and one day it may open up a channel to where she can enjoy your hobby. Honestly...this works.
  22. Yeah..if is smells caustic is may be bad. It should, however, still have a chemical smell to it...not unlike the one when opening a new roll of 35mm film or sealed computer part. If kept from moisture it lasts a long time.
  23. It is NOT worth the extra money...if you get the bug you will replace the stock anyway.
  24. jps accidentally the whole thread
