  1. For a couple of chickens, you can probably get yourself an AK-47 to fit in better. Welcome to TGO
  2. I bet in the next election cycle we'll see more politicians fessing up to having a carry permit. (=
  3. Is this the latest attempt to improve upon perfection? (=
  4. Yeah, you just have to register with Microsoft before you take the exam the first time. Then you've got 2 weeks to get your free retake in. They did that last year's too. Was quite helpful. Al Gore lies.
  5. Dorks like us gave you the Internet. (= More accurately, XP Pro is a Taurus 1911, it works, it's got all the features you need, and some of the ones you want. And it's reliable as long as you take decent care of it. Vista is what you'd get if Jennings made Glocks. Some... maybe even most of them will work, but not very reliably, and you're going to shoot yourself in the *** a lot trying to keep it maintained, and the gunsmith down the street is going to tell you to go **** up a rope when you want something done to it because they're so hard to work on.
  6. That's what all the windy two lane roads around here, a more nimble car, and a cell phone are for.
  7. 620 is one of the easier MS cert exams I've had to take. 70-298 still ranks as the roughest MS exam I've ever taken. Vista Exams: 620 (Vista), 621 (Upgrade from MCDST) 622 (Enterprise Applications Troubleshooting on Vista), & 623 (Consumer Applications Support on Vista)
  8. Convincing them of how serious you are is all in how you deliver the message. Cleaning the shotgun when they show up just isn't intimidating enough. Ask any of my four female cousins (14, 17, 17, and 28) how serious their boyfriends have thought I was when I said I knew about this convenient sinkhole out in grandma's back 40 after they drove up to find me shooting groundhogs off of grandma's front porch with my M4. I'm only male cousin in my family, someone's gotta look out for the girls. They've all got lousy taste in men.
  9. That would be the hairs on the back of your neck standing up to warn you about the screech of pain about to emit from you wallet when the pawn of the Chicago Political Machine cranks up your taxes. Oh... and he reminds me of Bill Clinton... Without the womanizing record. Rabbi speaks the truth. Obama would be the Jimmy Carter of this generation. Which would be a good thing. Carter couldn't accomplish anything besides winning his Nobel Peace Prize. Obama wouldn't be able to do anything due to being such an outsider, and such a leftist. He'd probably do something epically stupid in the first two years and hand the legislature back to the Republicans in the midterm elections.
  10. Did this thread get hijacked by the Comcast Channel Programmers?
  11. The photo in Time a while back where he was pictured during the National Anthem standing with his hands behind his back, rather than with his hand over his heart is probably what's being referred to. I don't recall any coverage of him refusing to recite the Pledge.
  12. I don't have a favorite Gun Store, but I was down near Hero Gear on Saturday and stopped by. Joe and his crew are good people. Even when they're all sick with the flu they've got some customer service skills I wish they could make contagious and spread to NE TN.
  13. Texas actually has pretty simple laws for where you can't carry... Businesses with 51%+ revenue from alcohol for on-premises consumption Correctional facilities School property School Athletic Events, regardless of location Polling Places Racetracks/Secured Areas of Airports Courthouses unless authorized in writing by the court Churches Hospitals Nursing Homes Amusement Parks And anywhere that posts this sign: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/chlssign.htm The sign at that Wal-Mart is a little odd... Maybe it's a relic from before Texas went shall issue?
  14. $495 with or without night sights? I paid $425 for my bi-tone 4" without night sights three years ago.
  15. Just because I can, if you're not planning on carrying it, and don't care about looks, you could get a Hi-Point. They're uglier than a Glock, blockier than a Glock, really don't have much in the way of accessories, but they are reliable and affordable. And at their price points, you can buy a pistol and a carbine from Hi-Point, and still have $200 or so let over for ammo. You can ignore the Acolytes from St. Gaston's Temple. They've been drinking the holy water again. It gives them Glock Fever. I would recommend a liberal dosage of St. Browning's Range Remedy #1911. Cures it right up most of the time. YMMV
  16. Ricks send me a PM about carpooling. I get 40 mpg on the highway, and can seat 3 plus myself comfortably.
  17. I'm with Reef. Sort of. I either carry 15+1 with my XD-9, or just the 5 in the cylinder.
  18. I'll second that they're great to have around. Especially for mid-session cleanings at the range.
  19. What you're thinking of, as far as politicians go, is: "That was yesterday, what have you done for me today?"
  20. You'd have to ask Hero Gear if the prices in this thread are still accurate, but he's listing S&W 642's for TGO members at $399. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2331 When I bought new one a year or so ago, it was about $450 with tax & TICS
  21. I second that question, I can actually make it to this one, even with it being in Oak Ridge. Anyone want to/need to carpool down from Tri-Cities?
  22. It's also killed more people than Dick Cheney's shotgun.
  23. Anyone else heard about these? Maybe seen and fired one in person? http://www.germansportguns.de/gsg5/index.pl?mode=2
