  1. Merry Christmas too all!! Hope everyone at TGO and their family's have a wonderful holiday.
  2. I'd be about a suspicious of them buying that many cell phones as I would a couple toothless hillbillies buying up all the sudafed. It's not illegal but it sure does look suspicious.
  3. Yep, hickok45 is awesome as is the 1911.
  4. You got some good friends there. It's nice when you can count on someone. Kasey might be jealous when she sees your new recliner.
  5. This is 100% correct I believe. Getting rid of gun sales is just a plus for them. Land development areas are becoming scarce around downtown and that fair grounds is a gold mine. They have known this for years and keep trying to get rid of it. I'm betting they are very close to accomplishing this and have developers lined up ready to spend the big bucks.
  6. Pretty much how I feel about it. I've never really gone to movies in the past so not really too upset about it. Maybe if they are not posted I'll have to take MrsMonkey.
  7. She doesn't look too unhappy about it. I think she likes her new AK. :)
  8. Oh man that might be the ticket. I'll ask my LGS tomorrow if that one is available. I still can't find a sass 308 though. Buds and all of them are sold out of the 308. Those others are the mini 5.56. And yes it will definitely be a gen2. Thanks for letting me know about these.
  9. So far I really like what I've read about the DPMS gen2 308's. The sass looks to be a very solid platform and gets some great reviews. Unfortunately it seems to be completely unavailable. I've got my local store searching for one.
  10. I've never been great with numbers, and I've never read about moa or mil. For some reason moa just made perfect sense to me. Mil did not.
  11. I would like to buy the rifle complete minus scope and bipod if possible. I know for a fact building it will just add up and I just don't have time for any other projects right now. If you had to pick a stock gun under 2k for long range which would it be and why. I feel like it would need to be a 20" barrel as well. Also I'm not worried about size and weight. Only accuracy and durability.
  12. Wow, really great info here. I spent a while last night researching scopes. When I started I knew absolutely nothing. I feel I have a pretty good grip on it now. I think the budget will be limited to under 1k new. I really like the Vortex Mike listed. It seems to have as much potential as I could ever use in the near future. I understand MOA better than Mil in my head, so I think I will go that route. Anyone with SWFA or other brands in the vortex range let me know exactly which models you have and recommend. Thanks.
  13. Let me tell you, MrsMonkey can blast through 500 rounds of 10mm or .45 like a pro, but I've always wanted to try some long range slow precision stuff. It's something me and a friend have talked about but just never really tried. I have a feeling laying on the ground and taking a shot every five minutes might bore MrsMonkey to death. :)
  14. Yea I may never have those skills but it's been something I've always wanted to try and just never thought I would have the time or place to do it. I'm trying to get as much info as I can so I don't buy the wrong setup.
  15. So I wanted to make this a separate thread from my other about building a long range 308 ar. Anyone who has some experience with this I am looking for what type of scope and what magnification I need for a long range ar 308. Would like something capable of 1000yds and that will be durable for a 308 rifle. I'm very new to this type of shooting so any suggestions are welcome. Also if a scope can go out to 1000yd how close in can it still be effective?
  16. This has been great info everybody, thanks. It's been very helpful in my research.
  17. Other things I need advice on are barrel length, profile, and twist. Also what type of glass I can get at a decent price that is capable of 1000yd. I have very little experience with a scope and none with any in that range capability.
  18. I don't think I'll build one due to time it would take. Also I was meaning to put the optics in that price too.
  19. Well I've been thinking of putting together a new rifle. Right now I'm considering an ar10. I've never done any long range stuff and now that I have a place to do it I would like to try it. I need some suggestions and help figuring out exactly what I need to get up to 1000yd. I would like to stay under $2500 but get as much rifle as I can. I would also like it to be a semi auto with decent magazine capacity. I'm a fan of the ar platform so I was just starting there. Thanks
  20. A quiet, lightweight, non smokey diesel....I don't like it.
  21. Looking good Spots! Glad you and the Wife got some time off.
