  1.   So the question becomes if a state disagrees with the consitution and decides to seceed from it, do the other states have the right to band together and enforce mandatory compliance?   The secession was about slavery, the war was about the secession.
  2. I think there's so many skeletons in so many closets, it's become like a Mexican standoff of scandals.
  3. A stop needs to be made to this whole "pull over and slow down for emergency vehicles" bull####. I have seen several near misses when people think it's a commandment from God and not subject to common sense. Even the signs don't contain the proper text of the law which contains wording along the lines of "if safe to do so".   Tanker, glad it worked out for you. Near misses are so much better than the alternative.     FWIW, often, in a car, you're better off braking straight than swerving and braking. Swerving costs traction and makes your position and course unpredictable (as in Tanker's post).
  4.   Really? Way to get the over-protectiveness in early.     On the other hand, that's a plan to get behind. Being out in the hills and countryside... Quite "stimulating"...
  5.   If you saw my targets after a session at the range, you'd believe it.
  6. I've only been to a Ryans once, Golden Corral has had a better selection in my opinion. Then again, I've only been to the one in Cool Springs once. Overpriced for a lunch and not local for dinner.
  7. Bear in mind that Zimmerman wasn't just a passerby and should have been known in the neighborhood so it should have been possible to make a reasonable call on the good guy/bad guy thing.   If someone was able to get Martin off of Zimmerman, it might just have saved his life. But I'm not going to second guess anyone on the available information, particularly an unarmed female.   There probably wasn't a lot of time anyway.
  8.   Well, on my P99, you could continue to pull the trigger on a misfire (the slide wouldn't be locked back either in that situation). Point taken though.   On the other end of the scale, I think the most accurate portrayal of guns I've seen was in "The Hidden". Slides locking back, having to reload every N rounds, the works. I think I read there may have been a couple of errors in there but to me, it stood out for having these things which are missing in so many other movies.
  9.   Oh for sure. I had one bugger up at Pennyroyle pester a mole on my neck enough to make it bleed. I wore a precautionary bandaid on the next dive.

I think they look OK and I wouldn't mind one. But until they make them only last 5 years and not start to look ####ty after 2, I'll just enjoy watching from the sidelines.   I know several people who regret the ones they have . There's plenty who don't, mind you but that's not good odds to me.
  11. Got certified a few years ago. Still have all the gear but with TN being landlocked, I haven't felt the urge to get back into it. Quarries just don't do much for me. If it was all like the diving I did on a cruise, I'd probably still be doing it.
  12.   Buy Bitcoin. Though you may want to wait a bit, the price is on the slide.
  13.   And two wrongs don't make a right.
  14.   Slower traffic keep right *still* applies and you are obstructing the flow of traffic.
  15.   I don't have much problem with them on the trace. It's a state park and for recreation. I don't really have much trouble with them anywhere in fact, the road's for public use. I just wish some of them would use a bit more sense.
  16.   Yeah, they do seem to like riding on narrow windy roads during rush hour. Del Rio Pike is particularly bad for these people.   One law people don't seem to know about is that if you're travelling slower than 10mph under the speed limit and you have three or more vehicles behind you, you're supposed to pull over or off the road. Yet you'll see people trundle along with 1/2 mile of steaming drivers behind them.
  17. I think that's the guy at the gunshows sells a folder of gun laws in TN. Promises to send you an updates if and when they occur for your $10 or whatever it is. Never heard from him again and the info is nothing you can't find on the web.
  18. Good for you. I understand the arguments against open carry but I think doing so helps "the cause" as people get to see good guys with guns. Too many just like to stick their heads in the sand.
  19. Dickson WM had nothing (worthwhile). I've managed to get up to minimum requirements for most of what I want and have plenty for my main carry but looking for more whenever I can get it. They've started putting other items in the ammo display case it's so bad.   Wish I'd picked up all three boxes of 22 when I saw them a while back instead of leaving the other 2 for others. I thought we were about to turn the corner on the ammo situation.
  20. I think #1 would have to be the insta-death that guns tend to be seen to cause.   Lack of recoil is one that really stands out since I started shooting but there's only so much they can do for that so I try to ignore it.
  21. Unfortunately all the "Buy American" push had an unfortunate side-effect. It allowed taxes to rise and unions to grab to unsustainable levels. It couldn't hold and it didn't. Competition, not protectionism is the only sane way.
  22.   It's a little big and heavy. I was actually hoping for something a little more discrete. Interesting that it has the gps maps. I assumed when you said GPS it was going to be just for recording location.
  23. The only part of "the" constitution relevant here is really the 10th. Unless I missed the bit about giving congress the power to regulate the length of your grass.
  24.   Looks like I need to pour myself another cup of coffee :)
