  1. I thought we'd already covered this

    Season 4

He's just keeping the memory of his late wife alive.
  3.   Alternatively, an AWS server might work out cheaper than the difference between a home and Biz account. In fact, the t1,micro is free for the first year.
  4.   Pro-tip, middle-click or ctrl-click should open in new tab on most browsers I think.
  5. Slackware FTW. My new email server is currently a motherboard and hard-drive sitting on my desk (yes, it's running). It's going in the case occupied by the old one once I have decommissioned it fully.   Depending on usage, you might want to consider some level of RAID. I currently have a straight mirror. It's reasonably easy to do with modern distributions.
  6.   I recommend adblock. Not perfect but it helps. Also, there are a bunch of other plugins depending how serious you want to get.
  7. Bees have started showing some activity and it was warm enough for the top down yesterday. I'm ready.
  8. Prepare for assimilation.
  9. I think you miss the point. It's not about political or philosophical views. I can't talk for him but I'm sure CTS would be happy to sit down with an alcoholic beverage and debate political points with someone all night. It's when they start sending people into your home to take your property and suchlike that lines start getting crossed I suspect.
  10.   As the old joke goes: "Ma'am, we already know what you are, we're just haggling on the price".
  11. Sounds like a cool device but Google is giving me the heebie jeebies these days
  12. I got one for myself also. Word on the web was to make sure you get the Sinclair branded one as others were lower quality copies. I have seen the Sinclair ones for around $4 so I leave it to your judgement (There's a good chance the unbranded ones came off the same production line the way things are done these days). Price also seems to vary depending on whether you get the I or II and the black or silver blade.

    Season 4

I'm sure they'll milk it till it's dry then end it on a cliff-hanger that leaves everything unresolved.   I've started to avoid watching shows that are currently in production.
  14. True. But this is somewhat less about legality and about who is a valid target.   Even the cops know it's better to go for the kingpin than the foot soldiers.
  15.   Mostly correct except I would leave out the bit about the Jews in the ghetto as they were typically opposing those directly implementing the violence. (As an aside, it should be remembered that CvS did not succeed in his aim).     I guess the point is that it may be OK for the generals to sit in tents drinking cognac a couple of miles behind the lines while the footsoldiers line up and fire muskets at each other if you possess a certain point of view. Those of a more individualistic viewpoint might count those generals as valid targets and break out the sniper rifles.
  16. I hate to Godwin this but Robert, what are your feelings on Claus von Stauffenberg?
  17. Things don't simmer anymore. The current situation with the NSA spying on everything we say and do that goes anywhere electronically has had an awful effect on expressions of dissatisfaction. I would suggest something as a metaphor but since a certain marathon, that might be unwise.
  18. Completely unworkable. How does one expect to get a government is purportedly out of control to modify the laws to bring it under control when it is purportedly out of control? The main thing to remember is who the military are. Us. Any insurrection which didn't swiftly bring a large part of the military on-board would probably be fairly baseless and rightfully doomed anyway.
  19. I was not aware of that effect on aluminum. Good to know.
  20.   I would propose that there are a lot of people who may feel that way but have decided that in the current climate, it is prudent to self-censor. With its current over-arching paranoia, the government has succeeded in shutting down open opposition and has forced it into the darkness. As such... well, it ain't gonna be pretty.
  21.   The history of statists' actions in such situations suggests that that is just the beginning. Don't pause, don't celebrate and don't lay down your arms until liberty is assured.
  22. I would hope we would have heard but you never know.
  23. Well, I hate to make a grown man cry but... Oh... I did pick up the Leatherman Crater. It's now my EDC. The blade is a little shorter than the Buck I was carrying but still long enough for my purposes and I got the one with the screwdrivers since I tend to need those about as often as I need a knife and it's often harder to find a decent screwdriver than a sharp edge.
  24. I got gypped. I took this to the store and it wouldn't fit in the gumball machines. Seriously, this was perfect and has joined some close friends that have been accumulated recently. Apologies for the delay. I kept meaning to get around to posting this. And now I did.
  25. Sodium hydroxide? It's what was recommended for motorcycle exhausts. Also used in oven cleaners.
