US toilets are somewhat shorter than the ones I was used to growing up. Not a big deal to me but definitely noticeable and running contrary to the relative heights of the people.

OTOH, the catholic church is a very hierarchical structure with leadership and direction coming from the very top. It's almost the very blueprint for statism and collectivism. I'll leave it at that because I'm really not looking to upset anyone here and I know it's a very personal thing.

I was more thinking in terms of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_wars_of_religion but there's plenty there.
-
Your rights? Written up there in the constitution and bill of rights. What they might actually do to you? Different story.

Pfft. The Catholic church is largely responsible for the malaise that persisted through the middle ages and played a large part in the death of many around that time (and others). I have nothing against those that practice the faith but the church itself has largely been a force against (objective) good.

Meh, if you're going to go that way, you're probably better off going for gyrojet type rounds (per Runaway) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088024/

The point is not that it is somehow impossible to manage to avoid speeding, the question is about the amount of one's attention and effort should be diverted from safely navigating the road to mitigate what is often otherwise a totally harmless infraction. If I am driving safely, I am driving safely and a couple of numbers stuck on a white rectangle have little to do with that.

Took me 9 months from starting the process to setting foot in Houston, TX. We lived in England for a few years prior to that and for my wife to do the equivalent process, we caught a train in to London and were out in time to catch the McDonalds breakfast menu.

Fair enough :) I actually think English *should* be the US's official language (though I am naturally biased) but it currently isn't and I have no problem with others speaking other languages. (It is just crazy for the government to have to cater for everyone).
-
Now, that's a whole can of worms. As someone who's been through the process, I can say that you might want to make it a little easier for those bringing some education, skills and resources to make it in before allowing anyone to just wander in when they feel like it.

I trust I'll never hear the words "Oh Christmas tree, oh christmas tree" pass your lips then. Sing Psalms at your church?
-
Nope. UncleJak is correct, like it or not. Though the official language of the US nearly was German at one point. (Edit: not true. Need to take my own advice to check Snopes more often). My take? It's just a song. *BUT* I suspect it was politically motivated which is not cool.

Ugh. I'l regret this. I will say that the Catholic priesthood, with its prohibition on normal human relations, is definitely likely to draw those of a troubled sexuality. Not all will be abusers, some will simply be abused, others might simply find their sexuality not accepted in their society (homosexuality for example) but it will also draw those fleeing other demons. Time for that to end. It was only really brought in so the church could inherit from heirless estates.

Take THAT up your merry gland, Maryland!!
tnguy replied to Steelharp's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Besides, it's not like this is a whim for Beretta. Their environment has become a hostile one. The workers should be blaming the politicians and people of the state of Maryland. They can dig themselves into a hole just like Detroit has. -
Some countries appear to be pushing a "don't stand to pee" agenda. http://www.schnitzelbahn.com/homepage/2010/9/30/return-of-the-sitzpinkel-the-toilet-ghost.html That'll never fly in my house.

Back in stock, looks like.

Makes me wonder how hard a DIY receiver would be. It doesn't look terribly complicated. Not even going to think about adding it to my very long to-do list though.

I swear fully 2/3 of the shows I like end up going that way. Usually when Jane Espenson gets involved.

In the event of interruption of internet services, can be used to manufacture a "cantenna" to ensure continuation of communications...

This was the way people in the west used to poop until someone invented the newspaper and we needed a more stable way to perch. Expect to see things change again to accommodate smartphones.

And a few criminals conducting routine traffic stops. ;)

I'm not saying everyone should drive fast, just that it's not completely illogical. Those fuel savings only really matter if your time is worth nothing also. I think consideration for others on the road, whether you travel fast or slow, is the important thing. Keep traffic flowing and everyone should be happy. As for keeping an eye on the speedometer, I point to at least two tickets I received where I was not intentionally speeding. One I had sped up to allow someone on the right to pull out behind me as he was coming up on a slow vehicle and another I gave it some (brief) gas after being stuck behind a truck doing 15 under the speed limit for 10 miles and there happened to be a cop sitting by the road at that exact point. Neither incident put anyone or anything in danger (other than the cop standing by the side of the road writing the tickets, ironically).
