  1.   Well, Romero's zombies were a metaphor for mindless consumerism but I think it has since morphed into a metaphor for the hoardes who can't and won't take care of themselves. I was speaking to a guy once who was describing a scenario of an earthquake in Memphis (which sits more-or-less on top of an active fault line). Guess where those people will be heading when their SHTF. A good deal of them have the mental attitude that someone else has the duty to ensure their health and security.
  2. I wish the people who are falling for this crap could understand just how cynical Obama is being and how stupid he thinks they are.   Withdrawing services is just that. Taking an active role to punish people is... Well, I know I'm preaching to the choir here.
  3.   I believe that would be Mr Abercrombie and Mr Fitch. It's been around a while apparently. The original brand is probably something most of us would have appreciated in its early days     I'm not fond of the current incarnation myself. Possibly because
  4. It wouldn't surprise me if the flashlights were rigged to be dim to avoid problems with the cameras. The corollary is that it's often possible to see fine even with a complete lack of light sources.   http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HollywoodDarkness
  5. Saw some at "Everything Weapons" today. $11 for 50 or $70 for 500.  A little rich for my blood.
  6. We have been routed. We've crossed the tipping point where the looters can buy enough voters to allow themselves to help themselves to more of our money. It's a rapid downhill spiral from here.
  7. Just ask your wife to whine and complain. It'll be just like watching the Skyler-heavy episodes.
  8.   I did a search last time I saw that mentioned (I believe it was Virginia that time) and the closest I could find was that there were some precincts in Pennsylvania where Romney received no votes.   There were definitely plenty of shenanigans though. Radical leftists are "ends justify the means" type people. It's no wonder they're so scared of voter ID laws.
  9. If I squint, I can see two legs on the left and something that might be a monkey head in the mid-right but I'm not convinced.
  10. They were already breaking laws. The cops just needed to enforce them.

    Jerkey

I've made my own a couple of times. I was surprised how easy it was. It tends to disappear too quickly though. Going to have to have a marathon session one weekend. Also need to work out tracking down the necessary stuff to do it. The dehydrator came with two types of sachet, one is the flavoring but I'm not sure exactly what the other was.   If you don't want to pay out for a dehydrator, I hear you can do it in the oven at low temperature.
  12. The state is mother, the state is father.
  13. I think this was more of a mob than a gang. Hence if you took the helmet guy down, the rest would probably have stopped because things just got serious. Most were just along for the ride and though they were behaving irresponsibly and, in many cases, illegally, are not in the same mindset as a real  biker gang.   Then again, there appeared to be more than just the one guy involved in the beating so who knows? A bad situation all around and there are not always good answers.   I've been trying to think of a good car carry solution which doesn't involve removing the gun from the vehicle every time I exit. Unfortunately, the glove box turns out not to be a good answer. There are not really many other possible locations in my car unfortunately.
  14. The only surprise is that he's still working there.   He'll be too busy with the IRS to be writing books anyway.
  15. Good. Because it sounded like you were justifying government wasting money to create unproductive jobs by saying that they also give money to private industry (government welfare) which I oppose also. I was suggesting that the people who earn money through free trade are the best stewards of how to spend that money and that just because a few innocent bystanders happen do well from government living it large with our money in no way justifies that spending.
  16. Note that it's the affordable "care" act, not "healthcare". As in, "We may not meet your health needs but at least we care". Though even that's not true.
  17.   Wait, this is your argument for /continuing/ government spending?
  18.   Those businesses would be a lot better off if they were providing their services to entities that made their money by providing valuable services to society and not by extracting it by threat of force. Their taxes would be less too.
  19. This has to be fake. I have been to Mt Rushmore and there's no way to fit in his ears.
  20.   Broken window fallacy. Even if you grant that some proportion of the government has a valid, productive contribution to the economy, the vast, overwhelming majority does not. The money used to pay them is much better left in the hands of the people who earned it.   As the the effects of this shutdown, just look at how government has grown and grown and grown and grown over the past 50 years. Life worked back when government was already just too big, it's hardly surprising that life goes on when a tiny fraction of what there is now is sent home for a few days.   The blame game is pointless also. It doesn't matter who's to blame, it's what the best way forward is. That's to put people in place that understand that smaller government is better. Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible in the current climate.
  21. They should offer everyone the opportunity to collect their stuff and have these jokers in stocks at the site.

    Tactical Walls

No, just the walls (and ceilings) are clad with oak, not drywall. That's not insurmountable but it's more hassle to work with and it feels wrong to be tearing into it.
  23. I doubt a civil suit would be worth it.
  24. Yeah. I guess I'm just not understanding what would be expected to happen if you didn't use this wonder-grease.

    Tactical Walls

Not good with the walls in my house unfortunately. I've got some ideas for a shelf though.
