Businesses know the criminal statures are a big force in preventing guns from being brought through the door. They won't want that gone. They see a vigilante type event as a bigger threat than a robbery (which they're presumably insured against). Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

The business/Chamber of Commerce types will oppose this. Maybe not publicly, but they'll get the message to those politicians they pay good money to leverage as needed. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

I just looked it up and I was wrong about TFA giving my info, so my bad on that. It was through their emails, but it was asking for people to attend a legislative rally to fight Insure Tennessee back when it was being debated two years ago. They framed it as "harm to your constitutional rights and protections" and that they were "locking arms" with other organizations to fight against the Medicaid expansion. So, not as bad as I mistakenly posted, but still, it irked me. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

I think they do a good job lobbying when you consider the resources they have and how the Republican leadership isn't anywhere near pro gun as they campaign on. TFA also has a great finger on the pulse of the legislature in regards to pending legislation assumed well. I was highly put off when my membership info was given to another political issue organization not related to guns and I started getting pinged by them. They just assumed that all gun owners are conservative across the board I suppose. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

People get too caught up in the brand name at times, though I do agree that if you buy from what I consider the holy trinity (Colt, BCM, DD) you won't really have a good reason to regret anything. I do think we're gonna see some market fluctuation on all this for a bit, so that factors in as well. As to the brand in question...to me, some PSA stuff is a deal, and some of their deals are overrated. For example... This bolt carrier group is a good deal, and if I needed an extra BCG, I'd feel confident getting it if needs be. This bolt carrier group would never be used in my rifles, and I'd give my opinion against it to anyone who asks. Reason being...the difference in quality as I insist on it. The layperson sees the price difference. I see the bolt steel is 9310 on the cheaper one, not Carpenter 158 as the slightly more expensive one has. I see the better one (to me) has HPI and MPI listed, while the cheaper one does not. Usually that kind of omission means it didn't happen. To me, an AR needs to be looked at as a serious weapon and judged as such Cheap bolt actions, and .22LR rifles are range toys in my mind, but I get that some people buy an AR for range use as a primary function. Saying a PSA rifle is good to go as a blanket statement is a bit of a stretch considering the variety of parts they use in their assemblies for complete uppers and LPK's. PSA does have good quality at a some friendly prices if you know what to look for. I prefer bring a snob on what counts. It's served me well. That's just my $0.02 (rates subject to inflation due to the impending trade wars President Trump has on tap).

If memory serves, an acting Secretary has the same legal authority, though they do tend to punt as much as possible until an appointment is confirmed and in the office. Though this would be a very low priority indeed. Even if this gets put on the to-do list, the bigger issue will be over who pays for it. Guarantee that DoD doesn't want to eat the operations costs and without an order to make it happen out of their existing funds, would only be as cooperative as opening the arms room door and filling out some paperwork to make a transfer happen.

So, if we're going to argue semantics, let's at least try to get it right about what the NRA actually accomplished in this election. For my money, the biggest thing they did was give that much earlier than usual endorsement of Trump once it was simple math that he would win the Republican primary. This put a lot of Republicans still opposed to him in a political bind...pick a fight with the candidate the NRA had their arms around, or tone it down and accept the inevitable to stay on the NRA's good side. While the overall effect wasn't what I would call critical, or a deciding factor, it did allow Trump to consolidate things faster than he otherwise would have (though it's debatable if he took advantage of that).

Okay, but how many of those they pushed to the polls wouldn't have found their way there without the NRA? Being able to vote against Hillary was motivation enough I'd say. I just can't see the NRA inspired push being what put DJT into the west wing. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

How was the NRA imperative to this? President Trump won on a jobs message, massive discontent with the healthcare market, and a weak opponent. The pro gun stuff was simply preaching to the choir. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

A pistol like that sure fits in with his gaudy personal aesthetic. I also don't like the idea of a pistol that isn't meant to be shot and maintained...that thing probably wouldn't do well with any standard gun cleaning products. I sort of wondered if it was a joke, since I doubt my postings are highly sought after or anything. Then after enough times I realized something must be glitchy.

I had a small folding knife in my bag that the TSA in Indianapolis found as I made my way home from overseas. Somehow the MPs on customs inspector detail missed it when I went through Kuwait, otherwise I could have just put it in my checked bag during the inspection there. Not sure when, but at one point, it made its way into the laptop compartment of my backpack. Ironically, I had been wondering about it for a bit, thinking I had left it in Afghanistan. The agents in Indy we're quite chill about it, offered to let me pay to have it mailed, but I didn't feel like coughing up the cost.

I've gotten that email sent from TGO four times now, twice in the last three hours. What gives?

Loved the original video game on PlayStation, and I've enjoyed the series a good bit. Probably will wait for it to come out on video, though.

A while back, I saw a can't pass up (to me) deal, and from that, I have an Geissele SD3G in my SBR. I don't shoot 3-gun or any other competition, don't shoot it for distance past 100yds, but I love having that trigger. In my mind, it's just better for what I want out of the gun. I'm not chiding anyone who doesn't have something other than the standard trigger, I know it works just fine, and I'm quite sure there are plenty of people who could out shoot me on my best day with my SD3G while using only a mil-spec trigger for themselves. But that SD3G isn't coming out of my SBR unless I need some quick cash to pay a bill. I think that highly of it.

FYI, this bill has 43 co-sponsors and only one- Rep. DesJarlais- is from Tennessee. All you folks who live in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, & 8th districts (I think we all know the 5th and 9th reps aren't in favor) and want this to get put on a committee schedule should fire off an email (yes an email, letters take up to two months to be screened because of the anthrax scare) and politely ask your member of Congress to help.
-
Yup. With a fully in control Republican Congress and a President-elect who ran on one of the most pro-gun platforms in modern history, there is zero excuse material to not see a lot of very good things come from Washington regarding gun rights. We'll see how much actually gets done before sometime around June or July of next year, which is when Congress will take a nice fat break to tend to their own re-election matters. If they don't have results to show, and the 2A orgs aren't supporting primary candidates, we'll know the deal.

H.R.367 - To provide that silencers be treated the same as long guns. https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/367?r=21 The full text will come as it gets uploaded to the site. The House alone almost hit almost 400 bills filed in just a week since the new Congress convened, so they'll understandably need a few days to update the website.

Mr. Groover handled that pretty damn good. Seems like a decent fellow to boot based on this local news interview about the incident.

Even if it passes, it will probably be tied up in court for at least a few years. There is also no identified mechanism to react to what I see as the inevitable circumstance when California, Connecticut, and New York decide to willfully ignore the law until the court verdicts are decided under some obscure public safety reasoning.

With a few "red state" Senate Democrats up for re-election in 2018, there is an outside chance they would at least not vote against a cloture motion, which would then bring it up for a straight up or down vote only needing 51 votes, or 50+the VP to pass.
