  1. So...what's the NRA's plan for a legislative push on gun issues like this? With a Republican President who they helped "bigly" with that early major endorsement, and a Republican Congress that has to have a lot of members with A ratings...they should be able to get a decent chunk of a wishlist through the next Congress.
  2. If they're legal (even if a background check is required at purchase), the price should fall fast. I think the biggest drop in price would be as other large manufacturers get into it. Imagine how competitive the silencer/suppressor market would get if Daniel Defense, and BCM add full time can production to their offerings. We'd have a good game on then.
  3. If the firearms industry was untied, and held government sales to state and municipal level agencies to the standards they put on their citizens...these places would come around riki tik.
  4. I think once I get a job after graduation, and settle down somewhere, a .300BLK upper build is in my future. If I'm lucky, suppressors may be off the list or at least much cheaper/easier to process than they are now. If the entire SBR thing is nixed, I'd even build a dedicated lower for it instead of having it for my already approved SBR.
  5. New Congress gets sworn in January 3rd unless they change the schedule. But really, they have a lot of Pro Forma things to do until the inauguration. Chief among them a joint session to count electoral votes. They'll also hold individual ceremonial swearing in's for the benefit of family and friends. If we want this bill to pass this year, it needs to make it through committee, on the floor for a vote, then same process in the Senate. All before the Congress adjourns for the holidays...and the House only has 16 days of work in DC scheduled for the rest of 2016, with selecting leadership for next session on tap. So, that's not happening. It will have to be reintroduced in 2017, passed, and sent to President Trump's desk. All among the other priorities they will be chomping at the bit to push through.
  6. I hope you still poke your head in from time to time, Joe. Our out of state crowd helps us see how things are outside the bubble. Regardless, all the best with what's to come for you.
  7. As long as I don't see " American Outdoor Brands Corp." stamped on a gun.
  8. I'm not a die hard S&W fan, but I think this is a stupid move. 160+ years of history and name recognition is something they'll miss having on future sales to novice first time buyers. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-11-07/gunmaker-smith-wesson-to-drop-19th-century-founders-from-name
  9. That one should work well enough. If you're going to spend $55, why not just up the buy and get a full bolt carrier group?
  10. Any AR bolt should do, but you want to make sure you're getting from a quality vendor. If you're still unsure, post a link that you are thinking about and we'll give you a thumbs up or down.
  11. I like it getting dark early. Seems weird to say "night" when it's still daylight out. Plus it means cold weather is on the way, which in turn means I'll be out at the range more.
  12. Legally she's on some shaky ground and might be at the mercy of the DA's office. Legality aside, it's also worth considering the probability of actually getting a hit on a moving target as they withdraw, and weigh it against the lack of danger in the immediate moment. Goes back to knowing your target and what is beyond.

    Cubs!

I think it's better than the prior method. Alternating between the AL and NL with no other factors whatsoever was just as, if not more stupid.
  14. Early voted at the election commission in Rutherford County this morning. No line, walked right to a booth after checking in. Two minutes from start to finish. The lady at the front desk said they've been averaging 1,100 people a day so far at the Election Commission. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.

    Cubs!

Chicago Black Sox in 1919 ring a bell? Granted Rothstein and crew were non-partisan crooks, but you know there were notes being taken in Tammany Hall on how to rig something with efficiency.
  16. With Springfield Armory, I think I'll wait and see versus getting excited. Never been vastly impressed with the overall brand past the 1911 line.

    Cubs!

Cubs had to use five pitchers from their bullpen on Friday night. If I had to guess, he didn't want to go to his bullpen too early and wear them out with another game tonight.
  18. Yup. Good security measures don't always have to be an eyesore. Also worth considering is another layer between the front door and the guns. Kind of like how some UPS stores leave the front with the individual boxes open with a code for after hours, but put up a barrier to protect the rest of the store. Would be layout dependent, but prudent if doable.
  19. So...this isn't about meth, right?
  20. So...this isn't about meth, right?
  21. Yeah, that one went over my head.
  22. Checked mine out too giving my zip code and got better averages than I was expecting. Then in the plans, this one seems the most enticing if I have to get coverage from the marketplace instead of through an employer. Paying $193/month now...would jump up to what you see here.
  23. Was the PMAG and sales pitch the same store? Hyperbole as a sales pitch just irks me, and $30 per PMAG is just egregious. I can see a LGS or even some online retailers going as high as $15-$18 for profit margins, but when Primary Army still has the basic M2 MOE PMAG in stock for $9.99, that LGS or online retailer isn't supporting the community.
  24. Seems they're throwing anything they can whip together at the wall to see what sticks. I can't imagine venison being a fast food item of consistent quality.
  25. Ditto. It's just too perfect for my current work schedule. Throw everything in, turn it on, then come home to a fantastic smelling house with a hearty meal ready to go. This is my current favorite Crock-Pot meal(s). Takes all of five minutes to prep, with your crock pot doing all the work. Ingredients Needed to make 2x Man Size Servings 10.5oz can of condensed cream of chicken (I always use Campbell's) 1/2 can of salsa (or about a cups worth if you're a measurement Nazi) 1/2 packet of taco seasoning Up to 4x boneless skinless chicken breasts 1x large scoop of sour cream Cooking Instructions Place all of the ingredients except for the sour cream into the crock pot, and get it mixed up. Place the pot on low. When your chicken is cooked, and your cream of chicken mixes with the salsa, there should be a dark orange look to it. Mix in the sour cream, and the orange should start to brighten up. Turn off the heat if you like to let it cool, or serve it piping hot. The chicken will be fantastic. The salsa and seasoning you pick will determine the level of heat the overall meal has unless you want to add anything else to give it a kick. So if you like things spicy, get a really hot salsa. Goes well over white rice, or with any form of potato. A variation I like is to use only 2x chicken breasts, chopped up into small pieces before cooking, and serving it all as a soup with shredded cheese on top and tortilla chips as a lunch to tide me over before a big dinner.
