Tn allowing residents to carry guns without permits new bill
E4 No More replied to ted's topic in General Chat
I'll remind everyone that not everyone who gets a carry permit feels that they need to train for combat. They want to feel secure otherwise there wouldn't be a market for belly guns. -
Even emergency powers have to be justified, and what will stop cases will be the amount of money the average Joe has to prosecute a case to a higher authority.

Interesting conversation with my son on Covid-19
E4 No More replied to Grayfox54's topic in General Chat
I work from home anyway, but my wife doesn't. Her work is putting business before their employees even though she could work from home - which in and of itself is annoying - but the business recently moved to Cummins Station to be hip. Since that's a public building that uses public restrooms for the businesses that it contains it places them at even more risk. My wife is 58, a diabetic, and has high blood pressure. Given these conditions, she is the most likely to bring it into our house and could seriously be affected by it. I am 59 with worse diabetes and high blood pressure than my wife has so I am at a higher risk. I have a 37-year old daughter living with us who has VERY bad lungs from allergies, so it could hit our family hard. Fortunately, my daughter has been put on WFH for at least anther week but they'll probably extend it. -
Thanks for the suggestions. I had actually made a 6" step from expanded steel, and a ramp wouldn't work. To give you an idea of how bad she is, I put a 2 x 4 stair with a hand rail at the garage door entrance because it hurt her to make the 6" step into the house. She has no cartilage in one knee, and broke the other knee that didn't heal correctly. The doctor won't replace her knees because she's too heavy, but she can't exercise to lose the weight. We've resolved ourselves to the fact of not being able to camp anymore. Besides the above, the friends that were our camping buddies moved to Florida.

I know that I certainly didn't vote for his personality.

When I was a kid my parents raced freshwater sailboats. We would go out of town for regattas at places like Beaver Lake, Arkansas. We'd pack a heavy canvas family tent that took the entire top of my parent's VW bus and camp. It was a blast. I ended up camping in tents in my early 50's, but soon moved to a travel-trailer because after two back surgeries I'd hurt for days packing up the tent-camping equipment. I soon didn't like the confines of a travel-trailer and upped my game to nice Reflection 5th wheel. Now just a few years later and my wife's knees are so bad that she can't get in and out of it without hurting for days, so we're selling it this spring.

When you're old it's camping - although with my 5th wheel I called it glamping.

Yep, pretty much don't give the virus any help penetrating the mucosa.

I just read a report on a study about how long the corona virus can "live" outside the body. Ignoring the debate of whether a virus is a living organism or not, it can live up to 3-days on stainless steel or plastic. It can live up to a day on cardboard, and 4-hours on copper. I then had a delivery at my house, and it made me wonder just where that cardboard box with the plastic tape has been. I'm not a germophobe but I certainly washed my hands really well after handling the box.

I am just the opposite. I bought a P220 DA/SA in 1988 as my duty weapon. I quickly discovered that I hated the gun. I didn't like the DA to SA change. It was just too weird for me. And although I could shoot the bull's-eye out of the target with a 1911, it seemed like I was all over the place with the Sig. I quickly sold it for a Glock 22. The Glock still didn't feel right in my hand but at least I could shoot it better than the Sig. I looked down on Sig until I held a P320. I now have 2 P320s in .357 Sig - full size and carry size.

I think that the AVERAGE woman doesn't want to think about such things because they are raised to be nurturing, so the thought of killing someone just doesn't jive with their mindset. They expect the man to protect them even when it was not possible to do so. I know with my wife of 41-years, the only thing that would make her think differently was if someone was threatening our children. Two examples to demonstrate my points: 1. A couple that I knew got divorced after she was raped while her husband was at work. She blamed her rape on him because he wasn't there to protect her. 2. My wife is very even tempered. We lived with my in-laws for a short while after I was discharged from the Marines. My wife and I came home one day to find a young man from the neighborhood throwing his body against the front door, and my sister-in-law's panic-stricken face trying to hold the door shut while holding my young son in her arms. I backed the obviously drug-crazed man away from the front door, and my wife went behind me to enter. When she learned that my son suffered a minor injury to his head, she went and got her dad's 1911 and went back outside. Fortunately, I saw her raise the gun out of the corner of my eye and could heard the police sirens, so I made her put it down. Had I not done so I have no doubt that the man would at least be sporting a gunshot wound to this day.

In the low country all I ever saw were jackets, and that was pretty rare. Obviously, In the high desert and mountains it was different.
-
I lived in the area for a few years in the Marine Corps. Never did I see long coats on anyone in Southern California.

I think it's a staged PR photo. No way that they would be that close together if they were firing at targets - which the brass on the table suggests. If it's LA then why are at least four of them in long coats?
-
Beaten? I've destroyed it!
-
Not only that, but Biden bought Beto's endorsement by promising to appoint him as the head of his gun-control efforts. That ain't good!
-
That sounds very liberal of you.

Unbelievable that some people on this GUN FORUM think that there should be a mandatory training class for a God-given right. Do I think that it's a good idea to get some training? Of course it is! But mandating it for a God-given right is ludicrous. The mandatory class that they have now for the HCP is useless as far as responsible gun-handling and accuracy are concerned, and it's just checking a box for the state. Heck, in my class they didn't even score the targets. The only use that I got from it was understanding Tennessee's laws in the matter.

But we did get a ton of wind and lightning in Lascassas.

Flammer with a shotgun?

Thanks, Mike.

I'm happy for you Mike. Unfortunately, I must work until I croak or the VA finally settles my claim.
