  1. What Dave said, employment is "At will" and that means either party. You can quit for no reason and they can fire you for no reason. The difference in your case is that if they cite no reason for your termination then they must pay unemployment. If they cite that you broke a company rule that you were properly warned about then they don't have to pay unemployment.
  2. Bean-counters F-up most good products.
  3. I am so glad that I'm no longer a police officer. Risking your life for others is one thing; throwing your life away because of indecision caused by societal pressure is quite another.
  4. I saw no fireball in the video. I saw a quick flash that appeared to be directional and then back to black. That could have been an engine coming apart. Don't get me wrong, I think it was most likely shot down; I just don't trust that video.
  5. Yes, but they aren't pointing it at the night sky hoping that they'll catch something on video. Having had an A-6 Intruder blow up over my head from a foreign object destruct, it's a heck of a lot more violent than that video portrays for a considerably larger plane.
  6. Sorry, but I question someone randomly videoing the sky in the middle of the night 4 hours after the missile attack and just happens to catch the moment when the plane blows.
  7. That seems to be a universal trait of all dads. My dad always bought for me, and I always buy for my kids.
  8. I disagree with your disagreement to....well, you know. As the saying goes, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. They are trying to hang onto power and can only accomplish that with the illegal sale of their oil. Take out their oil and that regime is totally screwed. You have to pay people to support your corruption, don't you know.
  9. I disagree. They have gone for decades killing our people and our pansy presidents do nothing about it. Now they expected the same with Trump but he disappointed them with a high-value strike. That caught them off guard. I think Trump has drawn a line at taking American lives - even if they are contractors - and the Iranians now know that he means it. Sure, they'll continue to shoot down drones and such, but I think they'll be cautious of taking any more American lives.
  10. Seems like the hand-wringers and Trump haters on this forum can relax for now. Doesn't look like we're going to war as they feared.
  11. As the security chief for my old church I had the pastor do a security awareness month covering various topics. One topic was telling folks that if they saw someone present a gun in the church then to get down below the oak pews and let the security team handle the situation. He pointed out that the pews offered better protection than standing up and trying to run. Will everyone do that under stress? Probably not, but it would certainly cut down on the number of people blocking a response.
  12. But there is damned good beer and food there!
  13. But do they love you back?
  14. Sorry, but I choose not to support Farcebook in any way, shape, or form. I've known that they are shady from their earliest years.
  15. Particularly a Brigadier General.
  16. No, you're still on it but I can selectively view what I want.
  17. When was the last war with Iran?
  18. There are many worse ways to go.
  19. I guess that depends on if you think about it from your perspective or the perspective of a theocracy that's barely holding onto control that communicates with threats.
  20. I disagree. I think that he's reaffirming that he isn't afraid to strike AND pointing out that this has been thought through by referencing the 52 targets for the number of hostages that the peanut farmer let them take.
  21. As long as what you want lines up with what they want.
  22. My view is that we have this problem with Iran today because Carter and Reagan didn't have the stones to take care of them in either 1979 or 1983. I understood Carter's inaction because he was a known pansy. I did NOT expect Reagan to allow the deaths of so many of my brother Marines, soldiers, and sailors to go unanswered. It's why I get annoyed to see people lift him up as a great president. Had we counter-struck 10 fold back to Iran with cruise missiles they would not be still killing our people today whether directly or indirectly. Will this lead us to war? I am no more of a prophet than anyone else. Iran thinks Russia will protect them but that didn't work out too well for other countries Russia has backed. I don't recall Russia getting directly engaged in any conflict with the US. Selling arms and sending advisers, sure. While I am glad that the US has taken out this a-hole it still doesn't make up for the thousands of killed and maimed at the hands of the Iranians. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Iran will strike back making it more important for the US to strike again even harder. Eventually, they'll either die or learn their lesson.
  23. It's a gun that I'd never carry nor hunt with, (since I don't hunt), but when I was young I wanted one pretty badly when I was getting into law enforcement, and I think that's what intrigues me about it now. I wasn't aware that there were 14 trigger parts to even remove from the design to begin with. My first thought was a downer because it's not a polished blue, but then the stainless that they use is stronger, thicker, and corrosion-resistant so maybe one day if the feedback they get is positive.
  24. Fortunately, all three of my kids are conservative although the middle kid was touch and go when Obama first ran for President. She converted when I asked her to identify which of Obama's policies that she agreed with after she stated that, "He speaks to me," and she couldn't name a single one. I didn't try to force my political beliefs on them preferring that they form their own opinions, but I have always pointed out inane positions of any politician and explained why I think they are wrong. I then ask them which makes more sense so that they came to logical conclusions. Having spent a lot of time in different colleges, I also point out to my kids that someone is not always correct just because of a position, (like a professor), that they hold. It's kind of the belief that being educated does not mandate being smart anymore than being smart mandates being educated.
