I vaguely remember something about this group from several years ago. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I remember not being interested.

The girl looks familiar. No idea of the movie. But the gun is either a FN 1910 or its later version the Browning Model 1955.

Open and honest discussion is fine. The point being to find a middle ground both sides can live with. A compromise. This requires some give and take from both parties. We know what the antis want from us. But what exactly have they got to offer us in return? -

I see your point. But school ain't what it used to be. Schools have their own criminals that need to be watched. Gangs, drugs, assaults and theft are sadly all too common in today's schools. The cops aren't there just in case of an attack. They are there to maintain order in a sadly dangerous environment. -
I bought mine LNIB about 5 years ago for $400. I'm not sure if it had ever been shot. Neither me or the seller really knew what it was at the time. I just knew I liked it. Mine was imported sometime after the 1994 ban, but before it expired. I know this because it came with two 10 round magazines. The last one I saw for sale was on GB about a year or so ago. IIRC, it brought right at $1200. But if several companies are going to bring out their own versions of the Detective, I'm not sure if that value will hold up. My Browning MK III was my first semi-auto pistol. Bought it brand new back in the early 90s. Been in love with the Hi-Power ever since. But, like the 1911, I enjoy shooting the full sized guns at the range. But for carry, I prefer the Commander version. My goal here is a Hi-Power for edc.

Yep, knowing how to put a fire out is also a very useful tool. I've seen quite a few fires get away from people who thought they had put it out.

As far as the girl's parents, I'm guessing they didn't know squat. They didn't want to know. They probably tried to help her in the beginning, but eventually became frustrated and just gave up. They may have been afraid of her. But she was their daughter. So they gave her food and a place to live and then just stayed out of her way They didn't bother to check up on her anymore. They no longer wanted the trouble. I saw this several times when I was a Boy Scout leader. It was usually a single Mom. They would bring us their son and say "I can't do a thing with him. I give up. Here, you give it a try" -
Put in in the Trading Post under Firearms Classifieds. Nice set, but way above my pay grade. That's the kind of thing that you have to find just the right buyer for and that could take quite some time. GLWS

I called Springfield Armory today to try to order one of their safety levers. Nope. Because it is a part of the safety system they will only replace that part themselves. They will not sell them. Oh well, I do like the Cylinder & Slide safety. However, their parts are getting hard to come by. As I understand it, the owner has retired and nobody is taking over the business. There is some doubt if they will still be around once existing stock is sold out. C&S is out of the safeties. So is Brownells. Midway still has a few. I have one on the way.

I don't blame you. I do have a SA35 and its an outstanding pistol. But as of yet they aren't making a Detective version. As I mentioned, I do have a FM Detective, but its too scarce and expensive for EDC. That's why this Girsan caught my attention. Not too expensive and the right size for carry. I knew it would need some work, but I kinda enjoy that sort of thing.

I got it to the range this afternoon. Dug around in the ammo supply and came up with 6 loads. Winchester White box 124gr FMJ NATO Winchester SXZ 115gr JHP Remington Golden Saber 124gr JHP And three of my handloads using 115gr JHPs, 115gr FMJs and 124gr LRN. All told, I ran about 175 rounds through the gun. I'm happy to report it ran like a champ. I did have 2 feed jams, but both of those were with the same 20 year old 13 round magazine. So I really think it was to blame. Despite the heavy, gritty trigger I was able to keep most of my shots in the black at 7 yards. I did have to adjust the rear sight just a tad to the right. But then I have to do that with most of my guns. Just the way my hands work i guess. Today was about testing function and reliability. It passed with flying colors. I'm thinking seriously about changing the thumb safety lever. While the Girsan lever is styled after the factory Browning design, it just don't feel right and has sharp edges. One of my hi-powers has the C&S safety and I do like it. But I really like the design of the lever on my SA35. I think I'll give Springfield a call and see if I can buy one. All in all, I really like this gun. Now, lemme see what I can do with that lousy trigger.

I got the new grips. A set of Altamonts I found on e-bay. Nice looking grips, but the ridges around the raised center section were sharp and felt like they cut into my hand. A little work with some sandpaper and they now feel great!

Disgruntled former employee goes nuts and kills a bunch of innocent people. Sad story, but we've heard it before. Mental illness has reached epidemic proportions in this country, but nobody wants to talk about that.

Word around the internet is that Jones will definitely be reappointed to his old seat and that Pearson is likely to be as well. I did hear back from my Shelby County Commissioner, Mick Wright. It was your basic good to hear from constituents, thanks for the input, yadda, yadda, yadda response without any real answer. IDK if Memphis and Nashville should be picking a fight with the State Legislature over this. Lots of serious money is at stake. We shall see. Could get real interesting. BTW: maybe these democrats should rethink their whole “assault on democracy” cry. The U.S. isn't a democracy. We are a Representative Republic. -
I've been put in "Time Out" a couple of times at big blue over the years. Got my hand slapped and given a few days off. And it always boils down to the same thing. I post something that I think is absolutely hilarious and they get upset about it. They just can't appreciate my sense of humor.

I would like to know if there was a specific motive. But then, its hard to make sense out of crazy. -

I noticed in the video that the men were the ones waving arms, shouting and being disruptive. Johnson was just kinda standing there looking stupid. I believe that's what saved her butt. Of course the haters will never accept that. -

Fixed it for you. Add in a total disregard for rules and an inflated sense of self importance. -

Everything I'm seeing in the news is making this about gun control and how the "3" are being punished for supporting it. Not one mention of disrupting, disrespecting or disregarding the House Chamber rules or proper procedures. MSM is making these idiots out to be the heroes. [edit] I live in Shelby County. I just sent my County Commissioner an e-mail saying straight up to NOT even consider putting Pearson back in the Legislature. We don't need idiots like that in our government. Speak up folks! Tell your legislators how you feel. -

Well, this was the lead story on the SeeBS Evening News. According to them, 3 brave reps were unjustly punished for protesting for more gun control. They twisted the story around to make it look like the "3" are innocent victims of politics and racism. Once again its not what you say. but how you say it. I sent my Representative a rather blunt e-mail expressing my anger and irritation on how this matter was handled. I suggest you all do the same. I am truly embarrassed and angry with my state's government right now. -
I went with Arms Fair. They have a good set up there. Separate office just for transfers and they're listed on all the major gun selling sites. Just click them in the drop down menu. Quick in and out, no muss, no fuss. Cost is $40 + $10 for Tics. $5 discount if you pay cash, which I did. $45 total for me.

When I first saw the video of these 3 idiots shouting on the house floor, I though they were protesters who had somehow gotten in. They're actions were inexcusable and they deserved to be punished. However, I do think expulsion went a bit too far. Now they've become martyrs for the liberal cause. Our state leaders seem to be on a roll lately of trying to make all of us look bad. -

Once again. Wrong end of the state. Ya know, an enterprising fella could buy a bunch of those for $3.99 and sell 'em here for around $5.00. I'd buy several. -
Colt Mustang grip screw replacement
Grayfox54 replied to 19_A_CPT's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
It should just be a standard machine screw that just happens to be blued. Check with the local gunsmith. He probably has one to fit. -
I picked this up today. This is Girsan's version of the Detective Model Hi-Power. The slide and barrel are 1" shorter than the standard Hi-Power at 3.88". Girsan calls it the MC P35 PI. As I understand it the "PI" stands for Private Investigator". Let me preface this by saying I do own an original FM Detective Model. These were made back in the early 90s by FM Argentina. AFAIK, FM was the only company to produce and sell a reliable compact Hi-Power clone. Its a wonderful pistol and I do love mine. However, they have become scarce and the last one I saw for sale went for about $1200. I don't really want to take a chance by carrying mine. So when I learned of Girsan's new clone, it really caught my interest. I've heard a lot of good things about Girsan. I found this one at Bud's the other day for $503. That's about $50 cheaper than I've seen one anywhere else. So I went for it. Anyway, I picked it up today. With tax, insurance transfer and TICS I have $605 in this gun. Sorry about the pics, I'm afraid I'm not much of a photographer. First impressions: On initial inspection the gun appears to be very well made. Fit of all parts is excellent. No sharp edges are noticeable. The plain black finish is smooth and seems quite solid. Nice 3-dot sights and an Ambi safety. Its a good looking gun. The bad: First off the grips suck. Feel completely wrong for my hands. But that's easy enough to fix. In fact I've already got a new set on the way and they should be here in the next day or so. BTW: this will be the only change to the gun's appearance that I will make. The really bad: OMG! The trigger on this thing is absolutely horrible! Long, extremely gritty and , according to my gauge, breaks inconsistently at between 9 & 10 lbs! Ok, this is gonna take some work. From the way it feels, I'm thinking that much of the problem is going to be in that magazine disconnect which it does have. That will be the first thing to go. We'll see what happens after that. Hi-Power triggers are notoriously hard to tune. But a smooth, clean 4-5 Lb trigger is possible. For what I got in it, I can afford to tinker with it a bit. Step one is to get it to the range in its box stock configuration and try various loads through it. That's if the rain will ever quit and I have a chance? Considering that lousy trigger, I'm not really looking for great accuracy. This will be a reliability test. Then I'll take it from there. Anyway, the goal is to have a reliable, compact Hi-Power carry gun. Stay tuned, I'll post updates as this project progresses.
