Arms length or GTFO. Maybe I'm in the same boat, Caster, because I have a guy I work with that wants to shake my hand everytime he sees me. I don't care for it. I don't shake hands when I first see my best friends necessarily, so I really don't care to make contact with someone I don't even really like. Standing too close is just a problem for me because of my job too. I don't like crowds either. I freely admit I'm anti-social though.

According to the Sheriff earlier he said they are certain the kid wasn't being hurt or abused in any way or they would have already risked going in. He said they've been sending down coloring books and toys. I know this has got to be infuriatingly frustrating to the cops wanting to go in and just kill this guy.

Not sure of the outfitter's name. The owner of the company is a friend of our sister-in-law's family though.   I'm slowly getting over my apprehension about it. I've never been a risk adverse person, military service, security/LE work, motorcycles, horse riding,  etc., but something about whitewater has always made me kinda hesitant. Thanks guys!

So my wife, and her siblings, and their spouses all do a family trip every year and this year the trip is to the Ocoee for a rafting trip. I've never been and honestly have never had an interest in it. Risk vs. reward kinda thing in my opinion. I was just curious if anyone here had ever gone or had any stories/advice/opinions about it.

That is beyond terrible advice. Once the threat is removed you reholster and retreat to safety and wait for PD, which you ( or someone you know) should be on the phone with 911 anyway immediately after. Once PD arrives you present yourself as the victim and then disarm according to their instructions or let them disarm you while they conduct their investigation.

Meds have their place and I know people they have helped greatly. The issue I have is doctors slapping people on these drugs and then letting them go with no oversight. If you're putting someone on a drug that you know alters their mindset and can have violent side effects, someone needs to be on the lookout for warning signs. Whether that's weekly checks with a doc, family members, I don't know. But that's the difference between me and the anti-gun people. I'm not saying ban SSRIs or talking out of my ass about something I don't understand.

Too many warning shots, sounds like they really didn't have it in them to use their guns for their actual purpose and were just hoping the intimidation factor worked. Either way, glad it ended with the family safe.
