  1.   I am in the same boat.   Thanks Robert
  2.   That is because the Cup cost more then the soda going into it.  That is at the store level.  I use to see the invoices at chain locations at least.   Thanks Robert
  3. Any word on the price of Ammo? If the 9mm is $1 a round and the belt feed 5.56 or 7.62 is $5 a round I would like to know that before I put money down and find out I can't afford to shot anything. Thanks Robert
  4.   As the cost to produce goes up company's can either shrink sizes or increase prices.  In general company's have been doing a little bit of both.  All these people who are screaming for $15.00 min wage however no one seems to be talking about what will happen to prices?  How much will a big mac cost when everyone at McD is making $15 an hour to serve them?     Thanks Robert
  5.   Well they have those bands to attach your phone to your arm well doing things like jogging in theory you could do that :).  I could see this device being able to do that with a simple software change.  Although to be honest is would make more since for them to not attched the device to the phone instead use a strap to hide it someone on your body if they wanted to support that.
  6. I agree that they should learn their are 2 groups the Sunni and Shia but do we really need to teach why they are divided?  The details of that worksheet suggests they spent a min of a week more likely 2 or 3 weeks on the topic and went into great details about their beliefs.  If they went though the level of details covering the differences between protestants and catholics when current events at the time was the conflict in Northern Ireland I could see the ACLU going nuts over that one.
  7.   Yes Islam was talked about in history class we might have covered some of the basic's but we never went in depth enough to even discuss their were 2 sub groups in Islam not alone covering the topic outlined in that posting.  We also never covered the 10 commandments or other major tenant of the other religions of the world.  If this class is covering the tenants of Islam to that leave are the also covering christians are they diving into the difference between protestants and catholics and how they differ?  How about the Jewish faith? and how about Hinduism or Buddhism?  All the major religions have played a part in history.   Unless they were in a religious studies class anything more then a very basic overview of their basic tenants is wasting time that could be better served learning about actual history.    Thanks Robert
  8.   I really hope they have one of these at the range so I can actually get my hands on one of them.   Thanks Robert
  9.   The Mortgage deduction is better then nothing.  But it is always better to not pay anything.   Thanks Robert
  10.     It is the primary I voted for who I think is best so I decided to go with Cruz.  If Trump wins I will likely vote for him in the end but what I prefer is Cruz.   Thanks Robert
  11.   I took my HCP class a Shooters Depot.  The range was nice and modern but is handgun only.  The people were pretty nice and it was a nice place.  However it is pretty pricey to shoot there.  According to there website it is $25 for 30 min at the range.  I shoot before I took the class and they didn't charge me that much so it might be cheaper at slower times.   Carters is a about twice the size of shooters depot but the building is clearly older and it was a little strange you have to walk outside to get to the range from the show room.  The people were nice and the range supports riffles as well as handguns although when I was up there last week they had a notice nothing above .223 until they complete their maintenance I have no idea how long that will take.  You must be a member to shot at Carters the membership cost $20 per year and $10 to shot.  Carters has a group-on deal running where you get the membership and 1 visit for $15.   I haven't been to any other ranges in the area yet.  I plan to hit the range in Cleveland soon   Thanks Robert
  12.   Until I moved to TN I was debt free.  We had paid thing down attacking the smallest charge first and here is the key not getting a balance on the card after it is paid off.  In Maryland we had paid off the Mobile Home we were living in.  When we moved to TN we bought an actual house.  Even after selling our Mobile Home we are sitting on a Mortgage and that is the only debt we have at this point.  It is going to take a few years to pay the new place off but that is the next major goal.   Thanks Robert
  13. Hi from Nebraska,   It might be helpful to include some info about yourself.   Thanks Robert
  14.   And it can turn around on you and start costing you for the payback cost plus whatever capitol you lost in the investment.  Always remember you are taking a bet in an investment.   Thanks Robert
  15.   Have the place paid off made selling the place much easier.  I would always recommend having a few month of saving just in case.  Selling from out of state isn't that hard.  We had someone local under contract to sell the place.  Once we had a buyer we took care of everything from our new home.  I left Maryland on June 22nd of last year.  We sold the place at the end of August we handled everything though either email, fax, or overnight delivery of the paperwork.  The more you have paid off the more flexibility you would have in selling your old home and once it sold the more cash you would have in the back for the next place or saving for other stuff.   Thanks Robert
  16.   I guess it depends on how often you use one.  I have used some very expensive Fluck and a junk unit from Walmart and their reading are generally pretty close between the units for most people's use.  To me it depends on how often you use the thing.  If you use something once a year is it really worth paying all that extra to get a nice one you rarely use.  Now if you use it daily then it might make since to spend a little more to get a nice unit.   Thanks Robert
  17.   As someone who had paid off his last place before moving it made the math much easier.  I was able to put much more down since I know when I sold my place all the money would replace my saving.  It took my around 2 months to sell my old place but we were able to replace much of my savings at that point.  If we still has debt on the place and wasn't expecting a decent pay day it would have been allot harder to buy my current house.  Now my current house I attend to live in until they put me in the ground.   Thanks Robert
  18.   I agree with this one for the most part.  That is pretty much what I have been doing.  Miss the College Fund we don't have kids.  Make sure you max out your matching 401K dollars they are a gift.   Make sure you have a few months worth of expenses in the bank first.  That way if something goes wrong you have something to fall back on.   I would pay off the house before putting a large amount into retirement or the stock market. For one thing most people will be lucky to keep up with inflation for the next 2 years the stock market has a few more drops coming.  A house with just 4% interest will save you hundreds a month paying off earily.  You will generate more wealth paying off down your mortgage for the next 2 years then you will ever make in the stock market.   Thanks Robert
  19.   The work around is to keep the Senate Open until Jan 17 with a skeleton Crew manning thing until Obama is out of Office.
  20.   All states get at least 3 electoral votes.  1 for each senator and 1 for each congressmen in the state.  I am pretty certain that NH has 2 Congressmen so it would have 4 votes.  Looked it up and confirmed they have 4 votes.  Granted it likely wont make much a difference in the end but here is a map of the number of votes per state https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/ElectoralCollege2012.svg .   NH went for bush in 2000 although it went Dem in 2004, 2008, 2012.  It is possible it will return to the R side of the list this year.   Thanks Robert
  21.   Someone can't count I guess.  If you take the screenshot Trump got 35% of the GOP vote with 92K votes if you take 92k * 100 / 35 ~= 264k.  If you add up both Dem total you get right around 227K.  So the GOP seems to have an advantage going into the election since they got around 37k more votes in the Primary.  Now I am sure that little snapshot will be meaningless when it come election time as there are a lot more dynamics in play in NH then just how many people came out for the Primary.  However it does suggest the GOP has a better change of winning NH since it has been a swing state in the past.   Thanks Robert
  22.   Where I am living there is only 1 place that I have found with a gun buster sign but the places we go to on a regular base know us.  I am a big guy and we tip pretty well so the servers remember us.  Although I have seen people open carrying in the area no one seems to notice or care.  If one of the places I go regularly were to put up a gun buster I would make sure the people who know me their know I wasn't coming back unless that sign were removed.  It might not be enough to get them to remove the sign but it would sure give them a pause.   Thanks Robert
  23.   You can control what forum as included in view new content.  I already exclude several forums including the events.   Thanks Robert
  24.     Personally I have stopped following the events forum completely.  Where I live it is 2 1/2 to 3 hours to Nashville and 5 1/2 to 6 hours to Memphis there is very little change I will go to an event in either of those areas but most of the posting are for events in those area's.  Since those are the 2 largest city's in TN it makes since most of the posting would be for those areas.  So I miss the events that are happening in Knoxville and Chattanooga because I don't fell like filtering though all the Nashville / Memphis posts to find the diamond in the rough.  Does it mean I miss events I might have attended yes but it isn't worth spending time reading about an event that sounds like fun then look up the town and find out it is happening 4 hours away.  We all only have so much time we can spend reading TGO.  I am sure I am not the only one who no longer checks the events forum anymore.   As for general forums I am not suggesting any of them go away I am just suggesting creating ones that will allow people to focus in on things happening in their area's.  This might help TGO members to get to know the people in their area better since it would make room for more local topics that people inside their area would care about.  Tennessee might be a small state compared to some like CA and TX but it is still big enough that someone from one side of the state would need a hotel to visit the other side.   Personally I prefer the city / area approach and think the 5 major area's makes the most sense because for the most part if you do them on a map they divide the state overall pretty well.  Granted TriCity and Knoxville are kinda close together and the north western part of the state isn't really covered at all but doing it based on Western, Middle, and Eastern still means the area would be a 3 to 4 hour drive inside their regions for people but then again that is better then nothing.   Thanks Robert
  25. I came from another area and we had Forums that covered parts of the state so people like me who live near Chattanooga didn't have to see ads about events in Nashville or Memphis unless it was a big enough event that the entire state would care.     What I am suggesting is like 5 or 6 Forums for area related discussion and maybe a sub-form under that for local events.  It could be area related.  North Western TN, South Western, North Middle, etc. or we could just create forums around the 5 or 6 biggest city's / area's.  Example.  Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, TriCity, maybe Sevierville/Pidgin Forge/Gatlinburg area's.   That would help people on the eastern side of the state avoid talk to is more focused on the western side of the state.   What is everyone though on this.   PS.  I didn't seen anything like this requested in the first 3 pages of this forum.  I checked before posting.   Thanks Robert
