  1. I start 8 weeks before planting.  Planting is 1 week after the "last frost" date, though some years I've had to protect the plants after planting from a light frost.   I've got some cold hardy plants started now, and they'll be going out in about 2 weeks.  Just put the tomato and pepper seeds in the starting soil, I will  keep them inside for about 8 weeks which puts me right at last frost date +1 week.   good luck!
  2. Yes they will, tried this as well.  If they don't get a response right away they'll move on to the next person in the queue.
  3.   This is what I do on my cell. Our land line is very basic, no caller ID, so when we answer and it's a telemarketer, well, lets just say I have an air horn near every phone :)   Now if I can just get the one place that keeps saying "this is your last chance to lower your credit card rate..."  Tried talking to them but if you get off their script they just hang up.  Tried making the answering machine have the "disconnected service" tone, but still no joy.  Sigh, guess they just love the sound of an air horn in their ears.
  4. Yeeeeeouch!   That's gonna leave a mark.   Assuming the case cut the bone cleanly wonder if they could re-insert the bone chunk and let it heal?  Other wise I would think that finger might need to be shortened a little?
  5. Thanks all.   I don't have the specifics on what was wrong with the will, just that something was not done correctly which invalidated the will and made for a nightmare (siblings squabbling they didn't get a fair share, etc.)
  6. As the title says, I'm looking to get a will and living will setup for my family.  I know there are plenty of options out there but would like to have some recommendations from the TGO crowd.  Prefer the Memphis/Bartlett area.   If anyone can give a cost estimate that would be wonderful as well.   Not looking to do the online will's, had a relative do that just before passing and the will was tossed and the estate went to probate.   TIA
  7. For what it's worth, there are many professional and hobby forms of that that are built.   Here's one, on the professional side: http://youtu.be/XItdFdLjCHU   These units will pick up the logs and feed them into the cutter and will split the wood into multiple pieces in one pass.   I'm saving my pennies for just a regular wood splitter, but would LOVE to have a cutter/splitter.
  8. I have one, very similar to this: http://www.truxedo.com/edge/land.php   I love it.  I keep the cover on most of the time, and I'm going on 5 years with it.  It's starting to show some age, and I need to adjust the tension, but it still works wonderfully.   The bed is not water tight, but very little water (rain) gets in when in use.   Pros: Rolls up and completly out of the way when not in use.  Easy to install.  Keeps the bed covered to keep contents (if any) out of sight. Cons: In Very cold weather (sub freezing) the material can get stiff and difficult, but not impossible, to roll up.  Not as secure as a hard top.   I find the cover comes in best when going on vacations, since I don't have to pack the bed in such a way to worry about stuff flying out.  As long as everything is below the bed sides I can close the cover.
  9. Finished up the fix today.  Reused the gasket and replaced the leaking bulkhead pass through seal.  Man, I hate working under the vehicle.  Didn't help that to refill the fluid was a total PIA.  Almost as bad as Ford KNOWING the seal is bad, but wont pay to have it fixed.   All in all, I was down about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart of fluid, so not bad, but I had a piece of cardboard under the tranny last night and it had a pretty good soaking of fluid.  Glad I did this now and didn't wait.
  10. BTW, the last transmission filter I replaced was on an '88 F150.  It had less than 100k miles on it but the pan gasket was leaking so I figured while I was there I'd do the filter too.  Broke 2 of the bolts taking the pan off, that was a major PIA.   edited to add: Just watched this video on replacing the filter.   The gasket is reusable?  That's a new one for me.  So the only cost would be the filter, fluid and the new pass through seal. and my time laying on my back under my truck :)   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQe11789HsQ
  11. Just over 100k miles.  Appears enough of a leak to leave spots in my parking spot at work (noticed today because I was looking for it, and I almost always park in the same spot)   No service done to it that I know of, and I bought the truck with under 20k miles on it.  So at 100k, I should be due for a change of the transmission filter, I think.  I'll find out about the warranty, thanks for the tip.   I can't tell where the main leak is, could be the seal between the pan and the housing.  Which would be replaced if I just did a drain and fill of the fluid.   Here's a vid of the bulk head seal replacement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JImNJLjy9E   I may just end up doing this myself Adding the fluid back in looks like it will be a pain tho :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRDSQCklCHI&src_vid=3JImNJLjy9E&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_3880024415
  12. If the leak is coming from the TSB then it would necessitate repair, and I wont know that until I get it looked at.   While not a pool, there are droplets hanging from the pan.  And that is after the truck sat for 2 days.   Wont say that I've ever heard that seepage from a transmission is normal, it's a sealed system.
  13. If I recall correctly, when I stripped a rifle of mine that was painted in a previous life, I used acetone.  I think it was spray painted (due the bad running of the paint), and the acetone took it right off.  Just be careful of any plastics nearby and wear gloves.
  14. As others have said, back to your house.   I had a Henry Survival Rifle that had issues, so back to the factory it went.  A couple weeks later I had a delivery tag from UPS on the door.  Went to the hub and picked it up.
  15. So, it was time to change the oil in my truck yesterday (F150, SuperCrew, 4x4) and while under the truck I do a visual check of most everything.  Well, I noticed the pan on the transmission was a bit "wet".  Scooting back I notice that the back part of the transmission is dripping.  Touch the liquid with my finger, red, yup tranny fluid is leaking :(   My normal shop I would go to is closed, so I'll be taking it to the dealer tomorrow.  I did find a TSB for a known leak, so hoping that is the problem.  And wouldn't you know that my extended warranty expired around the 15th of the month (went over 100k mi).   If I had a better place to work on it and a better skill set, I would prolly tackle the job, but quite frankly, I just don't like working on my vehicles.  Seems like every time I try to fix one problem, I find 2 more that need to be addressed. :(
  16. Not this year, but when my daughter was 2, both my wife and I got the flu bug on Christmas Eve night.  Oh what joy.  Putting out the "Santa" gifts, then having an excited 2 year old running around the house while the wife and I were utterly miserable.   Sent my daughter off to the in laws for a couple days while we recuperated.    That was one of our worst Christmases as a family.
  17. No pics, yet, but a bunch of little stuff for my guns   - scope base for my Traditions muzzle loader - Scope for my muzzle loader - Bi-Pod for my 10/22TD - Auto-bolt release for my 10/22TD - recoil buffer for 10/22 TD   and for the last 3 months or so I kept hinting at bits for my impact driver.  I seem to use them up or lose them at the drop of a hat, so between my wife and Santa I got 3 sets of bits, one set being all #2 phillips, which is what I use the most of.
  18.   I don't think there is a residency requirement, only ownership of the land and that you are a resident of TN.  I reside in Memphis, but have acreage near Lexington that I hunt one.   Reading the linked PDF, it only says owner, tennents, spouses and children that reside in TN. I may be wrong, if I am, let me know.
  19. I had a problem with Midway and them using UPS SurePost (sounds like how your's was "delivered").  UPS delivered to USPS and everyday the tracking just kept showing it would be delivered the next day. I kept taking screen shots of it.   On the day of the expected delivery, when it said the same thing, I called midway.  The response was to wait and see if it was delivered, then I produced the screen shots of the last 4 days.  Midway re-shipped my order by UPS overnight.  Said if my original order ever showed up to do a return to sender. I've not seen that order.  Funny thing, doubt anyone would have wanted it as it was just some .25-20 caliber stuff.
  20.   Article I read said July 2015, so if you buy your licenses early you'll beat the increase should they do it.     While I don't like the increase, I can understand it.  It's been 10 years since the last increase.  Instead of a massive increase every 10 years or so, why not a smaller increase of a dollar every year or two.
  21. There have been some good deals recently, but not many.  I did get the "Bucket of Bullets" from BPS when it was offered.  I applied some of my rewards points and got the cost per round down to .037.   My thoughts have been that either suppliers or dealers are intentionally holding inventory back for the holiday season.  This way when they have specials they know they will up their sales.
  22.   had a co-worker order these earlier this week, got an email from Cabela's saying that the item was on back order and would ship when available.
  23. Well, I got me a bucket coming, along with a co-worker.  Neither of us had any issues getting on the site and checking out.   I did use some of my BPS rewards money to lower the price, so my total after tax was 52.81 (.037 cents/bullet)   I also got a box of the 22 from the BPS black friday event, so I'm good for a couple of months on 22lr :)
  24. Well, if your system is backing up that often it sounds like there is something wrong.  Next time it's backed up get a plumber that has a camera on a snake and find out exactly where the clog is. As far as the frequency to clean a septic system, I've seen guberment sites recommend every 3 years, unless you have a garbage disposal, then it's every year.  Sorry, that's just lining someones pocket in my opinion.  A properly functioning septic should almost never have to be cleaned.   Case in point, the house I grew up in, I lived in it for 25 years.  Hand built by my parents when I was just a toddler.  When the house was sold, they were told it was "the law that all septic systems had to be pumped and inspected", so they did.  When the guy finished he asked my parents when the last time it was pumped.  Never was the reply, only 25 years ago it was empty, we never had a back up, clog, etc.  Of course, we did not have a garbage disposal, never used the dishwasher (hand wash only), and our clothes washer had an option called "suds saver", which would put the used water into a sink for re-use.  So wash the light colored clothes, save the water, then wash the dark clothes dispose of the water.  You can't find that option on any machine now days.
  25. I thought the TWRA check-in phone ap process counted as your log?   I can pull up the ap, and go to the Harvest Log & Diary, put in my info and it pulls up my doe from ML season.
