  1. Wow. That’s a lot of $$$ sitting there. That took some time to put together. I wouldn’t want to have to feed all those right now. However, with that kind of collection, I bet they have more ammo stored than any gun shop at the moment.
  2. Welcome to The Great State!
  3. Nice photo, but I don’t think it is vintage.
  4. So, did you drop $1150 or find a better deal?
  5. I need to get to the range. I want to sight in the el-cheapo red dot I got on Amazon back when they were so inexpensive.
  6. So I built an AR for shooting 22LR as well as 5.56/.223. It was built with a .223 Wylde 1/9 twist barrel, an Anderson lower (thanks Whisper), a blemed upper, a full stock (thanks KahrMan) and a free floating match hand guard. I aquired a cosmetically damaged PSA lower for next to nothing (read less than $30) so i needed to make it better. A buddy of mine got into Cerakoting for an auto restauration he is working on, but wanted to try fire arms. I was game and decided on a mildy two-tone build using a modified Disruptive Grey color (33% Graphite Black-66% Tungsten instead of 25% Graphite Black-75% Tungsten) for the upper, lower, and hand guard and Graphite Black for the stock, forward assist and ejection cover. The smalll bits were already a decent black in the lower build kit. The Cerakoting went great. It does take time to clean, sand blast, de-gas. Since we were doing two colors, we went with the black first. I did the frame of my 92S at the same time. The ABS plastic stock had to cure at a lower temp for 2 hours so we flashed the metal parts at that temp and then used the rest of the plastic cure time to do the Mod-disruptive grey (I need to name it). and flash those. Once the plastic was done we hard cured the metal parts. All in all I was at Scott's house for about 7 hours yesterday. I finished the build out today. I am very happy with the result. There are a few blemishes. It was Scott's first time to spray gun parts. And I dinged the hand guard, and of course the ding ended up at the top once installed, not the bottom. I am still trying to decide if the gas block should match the upper/lower/hand guard. The oven cured Cerakote is rated to about 500 degF. I am not sure how hor a gas block gets. I may have to Kote some other things. I think my inexpensive, parkerized GI model 1911 would look good that color, or a version of that color. The old lower from Whisper will get a new caliber upper (300 BO). Here are some before and after photos.
  7. I will say the cerakoting was not too difficult. A good acetone and simple green wash. Sand blasting was kind of gratifying. It did help that my buddy has a nice blast cabinet, and a nice spray-gun from Cerakote, and an oven dedicated to curing in his garage. I did everything but the spraying. He has the experience with the spray gun. I will note, if you are blasting a frame that has a blind hole for a spring, it will get packed with media. I learned that the hard way and had to dig out media during re-assembly.
  8. Mojave Jim is holding the same type rifle. Makes me think it was a prop at a photographer studio.
  9. Looks like a Colt Lightning Carbine (after a little research).
  10. I picked up an Italian Police turned in Beretta 92S last year from Fasteddie. it shoots great, but being a service pistol, the frame was a little beat up. Also, I never really cared for the glossy black finish. Since I was already planning to cerakote an AR, and I had the Graphite Black, I did the lower frame. I think it turned out great. it needs new grips. And I will post again once they come in. I may go back and strip the slide and kote it at some point. Before After
  11. What kind of rifle is that. It looks like a lever action, but I don’t see a lever.
  12. You can still get ammo at Walmart?
  13. Well that threw ice water on my ambitions.
  14. I do want to add that Ned Beatty was a great actor who played many different and varied roles. It’s unfortunate that the first thing folks remember is his role in Deliverance.
  15. Do we need to rename this thread “bad dad jokes”
  16. Have you contacted piano moving companies? They are used to heavy, single item moves. Not sure if they would tackle a safe, but I don’t see why not.
  17. You can call Holosun and speak directly to them. I had to with an issue with a product. Their customer service was top notch. You could ask them directly if the Amazon Store is affiliated with them.
  18. He sure did have a purty mouth
  19. Nice! I look to have 10 medium 8-frame supers full of honey this year. I have added one more super to the short hive ( it was a swarm I caught this year).
  20. Sounds like a King Snake. Those are good snakes.
  21. My wife and I had to save a family of Carolina Wrens from a rat snake this evening. I’m not sure how it got to the box on the side of the house but I heard a commotion and saw the snake half in the box. Must have dropped down from a tree branch. By the time I could get to the box it was all the way inside. We saved 4 of the 6 soon to be fledglings. Once I got the snake out, I relocated it across the street and we put the baby birds back in the nest. I know it was interfering with the circle of life and all that jazz, but we have been watching the baby wrens grow. The snake can eat some other birds
  22. I agree that $35 is a lot for 50 rounds of ammo, especially foreign ammo. But if someone wants to give me $60-70 per box, for Browning, I will likely let it go.
  23. I’ve got some Browning 124gr 100rnd boxes I might sell for that price per round.
  24. I hope that is for 100 rounds.
