  1. It is true that unscrupulous, liberal media and lawyers will try to attack modified arms. Along with cutesey warning signs, hi cap magazines (whatever those are), hollow point ammo, etc. The conclusion to carry a purely factory stock sidearm is a good idea also if you can accomplish that. I have one. the only thing I could wish for is less weight. Picking a carry pistol is a long process and doing so on a budget is nearly impossible. The argument could be made against full and semi custom pistols such as Wilson or Les Baer also. But that is an antiquated thought process as we have learned over the last 40 years how to dispel the wrongful thinking of these attacks. Lighter, cleaner triggers improve accuracy and reduce the risk to innocent bystanders as an example. As do better sights. Hollow points are designed to reduce over penetration. Any modification to enhance durability, reliability, accuracy, and survivability should be considered mandatory. One can also justify aesthetic upgrades as making other people less apprehensive. After all, black guns are scary. No one is out there building Fitz Specials anymore. Remember, we are trying to survive, we all know there will be another fight in the courts. Unless you're in Sheriff Grady's county. I stand by the adage "better to be judged by twelve than carried by six". Evry gun owner should spend as much or more time studying firearms, especially our own, as shooting and maintaining them. Study not only how everything works but what the laws and judgements are. Learn the political climate of the area in which one resides. Learn, practice, maintain. And I do own a Taurus PT111 Millenium G2. Bought it because it was a great deal and filled the empty 9mm slot. The Taurus 111/G2/G3 lines have deficiencies that could show up and are remedied easily by replacing plastic parts with steel. Nothing wrong there. Mine isn't carried at this point for two reasons unrelated to reliability. 1 I haven't finished the holster for it. 2 I hate the trigger, the pull is too long and it bites my finger. So yes, it will get an aftermarket trigger.
  2. There were several warehouses empty in the Samsonite area west of South Church. I don't know of any venues here in Shelbyville but I'll check it out.
  3. I don't have experience with compd pistols but I do have two factory ported handguns. One is an 8 round 357 mag revolver and I will say it is much more pleasant to shoot. The other is an alloy framed full size 45 ACP and it does have less muzzle flip than my govmnt model. I'd hate to shoot the 357 in low light though. I agree with the thought of not losing an inch of barrel length and the attending velocity since carry guns have short barrels anyway and velocity is a huge factor in expanding ammo.
  4. Except those low profile light bars look like roof racks from the front anyway
  5. I did check and Remington DriLube is still available from several online sources. WallyWorld doesn't have it in store any longer at least here. I liked it for my EDC because it didn't attract dust like a wet oil does. It never got gummy sitting either. Guess I'll have to add it to my next amazon order.
  6. I use RemOil but I am not fond of it at all. It gets gummy over time. I prefer Break Free CLP and will use Hoppe's solvent when needed. I used to use a dry spray that I really liked but haven't seen it on the market in years. May have been a Remington product I do not recall.
  7. My condolences. Glad you know where they were headed. So glad that I can know where I'm going. as @res308 said, I can't imagine how people can go through this life without him. This world is not my home, I'm only passing through.
  8. I've owned a Taurus 85 as well as a 650. both in polished stainless. Wish I still had the 85 but the DAO on the 650 was not great. Plan to add a 605 to go with my 608 for those days when I just want something really heavy.
  9. Beautiful set. When I get over being broke, do you do requests?
  10. I had to look this one up. People are really THAT stupid.
  11. I love these. Had a shot at one of the full sized in 45 ACP and let it slip away.
  12. Two articles I just read said Ruger wanted the capacity including facility, machinery, and staff. Speculation is to not only increase capacity but expand their offerings. So it may be like Ruger/Marlin and produce what Anderson top sellers are. If the Marlin aquisition is any indication we should expect higher quality control for Anderson products with a short interruption in availability.
  13. A carry pistol should be your first choice. Find one that fits you, comfortable in the hand. I agree you should try and shoot a few different models before making your choice. The OP said "budget" renting pistols at the ranges around here doesn't qualify as "LOW budget". With that said, it might be cheaper than the wrong pistol. But it IS your choice, no one except you will know if you are comfortable with it, Practice is a high priority. Therefore, if one is on a budget I would agree with the lower priced gun and more ammo. I've never owned a Glock so I won't malign them other than to say they are the Camry of pistols, ugly, basic, working machines. And just like the Camry, they have risen to overpriced for the machine due to reputation. Also remember that Glock also fails, breaks, and have issues. I'll put my Taurus pistols round for round against any other brand. LAKELINE, M-CARBO, and GALLOWAY PRECISION all carry replacement/upgrade parts for Taurus G2/G3 pistols. There are also multiple videos on installing these parts as well as how to's on fixing perceived issues. As an example, a Glock 21 is twice what I paid for a Taurus PT845. And for a poly framed pistol I prefer the Taurus.
  14. No secret I'm a Taurus fan. Currently have three in 45ACP, one 357 mag revolver, one 9MM and a 380 and looking for more. I have the precursor to the G3 in a PT111 G2. Not a fan of striker fired but it works well. I do not care for Taurus trigger feel on their striker fired pistols but I don't like striker fired in general. Unlike others, I've had very good results with Taurus. My recommendation would be GX4 unless you need the higher capacity. The ones I've picked up have had a better trigger than the G2 or G3's I've handled. Also they are slimmer making them easier to conceal and carry.
  15. yeah, mine are just babies. Very little training. I've gotten lazy on training in my later years. They would lick you to death as long as I like you. Or rip you open and remove your squeaker if you attack me or mama.
  16. Rock Island Armory 1911 A1 FS in 9MM can be bought for $300-400. I have one in 45 and it's a good pistol, runs fine and feeds 230gr hydrashok with no issues.

  18. I sent this to our Senators; I am very disappointed in the US Senate allowing an appointed liberal to divert progress against the infringements on our God given right to keep and bear arms. The NFA of 1934 was written to combat a problem created by the US congress with prohibition. Specifically, making certain legal firearms illegal in an attempt to protect authorities from organized crime that grew powerful by making money smuggling alcohol. If we look at historic court rulings and Constitutional amendment, we can see that it is Unconstitutional to attach a fee, tax, or test to any Constitutionally guaranteed right. The NFA goes against the Constitution and needs to be overturned. It seems our court system while being protective of the right to vote, have a blind spot to "shall not be infringed" so it is up to congress to strike the NFA in it's entirety. Joe Biden was a liar, Cannons were perfectly legal for citizens to own. Our founders wanted the populace to be able to defend themselves and their country. Make it right.

  20. I've tried different plugs over the years along with a few muffs. The foamies with muffs are the way to go if you are highly sensitive or shooting big bore indoors. WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THE PHONE?!! BTW, Harleys with straight pipes are bad too.
  21. Looks like Matilda and Snoopy are going to have pups.
  22. No joke, sorry. But it's so hot my dogs come in the first time I call them. And I HATE the hot humid pollen filled "spring"
  23. I agree and can only add trigger reach for my smaller hands. I don't like striker fired and I am not fond of polymer frames though I am working with a double stack DA/SA poly framed trying to get familiar enough with it to be comfortable carrying it. Until I do, 1911 will suit me fine.
