  1. Dammitall! I started looking again today,,,have to put my mind to saving again. Have y'all seen the Taylor's & Co. takedown in 45-70? Case colored receiver, peep sights, carbine length, threaded oh my!

    Taurus 605

To be fair, I understand their wanting to make sure I have what I say I have but I offered to send a picture and explained it was a used import. just send what I asked for. Stupid people have ruined life for the rest of us.

    Taurus 605

I bought a used import with the importer applied SN. Taurus wouldn't send me a pin because they didn't recognize the serial number. That's my one and only issue ever with Taurus and it was recent. I've heard other horror stories. I'm just glad to have not had any other issues with Taurus product since I have a few.
  4. I don't drink coffee, never have. But I drink a LOT of soda. I did the calculations and I do not get that many miles pre gallon. Not even close. But it's still funny.
  5. I have n older JM Marlin. The action on mine is quite smooth. But I don't doubt your experience. I would have to have one in my hands to know how the action would be. That could be a problem in any case. I tend to worry less about the action and more about the trigger. Actions can be easily slicked up. BTW, my Marlin probably needs cleaned and re-lubed now as I haven't used it in quite some time. All that aside, I would be quite comfortable buying a new Rossi. their reputation is quite good at this time.
  6. In that case, Rossi would be my choice simply for the looks. Henry makes great rifles, I just don't want one,,,yet
  7. I have to agree. I think they are the next new thing that will pass. I do like the Marlin Dark but not enough to shell out what they are bringing. Just as a point of contention, I have not seen a commercial 30-30 in sub-sonic and wouldn't want to download far enough to get there so even suppressed it's going to be loud. I've seen vids of suppressed 45-70 and it doesn't make a great deal of difference. Lastly, isn't the Mossberg 30-30 threaded?
  8. I was unaware of TNARMS15. Just looked at their stuff and I do like the carbon fiber lower. I may just go that route. As far as cost goes, that is not why I would choose a printed or 80% lower. Obvious choice would be a finished receiver if that were the deciding factor. And 80% whether poly or alloy may be cheap, but the jig and tools needed are not. I don't even have a router, never have. Since I am not planning on building for others, that cost is a huge element driving the price up much nigher than a high end finished receiver. With printed lower, you can crush it and sell the remainder of the parts or replace it rather cheaply. Guessing the same could be said for 80% once the initial tooling cost is over. I did so want to go casper just to piss people off but carbon fiber sounds better. Guess I just have to pay the shipping and tell my FFL I have another pkg coming
  9. my big complaint at the moment is the cost of building is higher than buying a complete AR. Especially if you are doing a one off from an 80%. Unfinished lowers cost more than a ready to build lower and you have to buy jig and tools on top. fFor that scenario printed seems the most budget friendly.
  10. LMAO! Rex I've never read you as being reserved one word answer before. What would be your verdict on them? I ask because I too have thoughts of building a lightweight in 5.56 for range fun. All I have is .300BO and it's a bit more expensive to shoot.
  11. I prefer metal myself. However, I just did a quick count and find that my handguns are running 3 to one polymer to metal. It isn't the strength, it's the appearance for me. My fav is a Firestar M45, heavier than a brick but man it does shoot sweet. I am assuming you are making the metal>polymer based solely on firearms. We have so much poly around us that would not be better served as metal. Take a quick look around the inside of ANY car. I would prefer paper grocery bags and cardboard milk cartons but I've gotten soft in my old age and started thinking a bbit about our environment and waste. Some of the alloy framed pistols I think are better than steel framed of the same model. My thinking is that poly lowers would be fine for normal use. After all, the trigger is pinned in and will have a metal frame. Every other moving part is in the upper. That is opinion as I have never had a poly frame lower.
  12. Anyone have experience with 3D printed?
  13. makes two of us at least! Just tryin to help a brother out ya know. LOL
  14. well if you feel charitable...
  15. I have a similar clock with a more ornate case. Most of my kids can't read the time. My youngest stood staring at it one day and asked me the time. He thought it had stopped because the red hand wasn't moving.
  16. Bet you have an electric grinder. Cast iron hand crank is easy to clean, hard to crank though.
  17. Buick Regal TourX. Absolutely love it!
  18. tried Mc rib once, as I expected hated it. I don't care for pretty much all of the BBQ sauces around. Oddly, the filet-o-fish commercial came on while I was reading this. Don't like that either.
  19. I bought similar to what you are talking about. Wound up loading it to the point it wasn't good for daily carry. My advice is make sure it isn't too large. ETSY is a good place to look if you have patience.
  20. I love this. But I just bought two new pistols last week. @Gurn might be fun except for the tennis elbow from pulling the handle on the turret press.
  21. Cerakote and High Temperature Ceramic Based Coatings Available Online by BAM Customs BAM Customs in Murfreesboro. Like @LangdoniousRex said, any reputable shop should be able to handle it. This one specializes.
  22. THIS!!! If my phone goes off with some alert every night from halfway across the state, I tend to ignore what might be pertinent to myself. When you get endangered child alerts for 17 year old runaways it kind of makes it unimportant. Chicken Little comes to mind.
