My SR22 would jam about every rounds. A little tweak of the feed lips and polish of the feed ramp and now I haven't found anything that won't run in it. Has to be the best .22 auto I've ever shot for reliability.

I wouldn't begin to debate whether this person or anyone else were targeted because of open carry. I'm going slightly off center of the topic and say this should be the training vid for situational awareness. I use earplugs when I mow, shoot or other high noise activity. I use earbuds if I am in the office. To be out on a public street engrossed in whatever he was listening to, or your phone, or your conversation is total lack of tactics. be aware of everything you can see and hear around you at all times. Never ever should one be as totally unaware of their surroundings as this man was. Never surrender your firearm no matter what the TV LEO does. You are then unarmed and IMHO responsible for whatever your firearm is used for. this man was attacked with deadly force and had he been alert his first move after being hit would have been to put his hand on his pistol. Once he saw the perp exit armed it would have then been draw, aim, fire end of action. The expert states he was correct in running, this is a half truth. Move and shoot but don't turn your back on a shooter. Most of us do not have the training for that but mental preparedness will help. No one can outrun or dodge the slowest bullet. Popular saying to be applied. "If you find yourself in a fair fight your tactics suck"

I told my wife that on the day open carry became legal I was going to put my 357 on my belt for everyone to see. I didn't, no one single reason, I just didn't. It's good to know that I can should I wish to. My biggest reason for approving open carry is not having to worry about flashing since I no longer carry IWB. Open carry is quicker if the correct holster is employed. Open carry will desensitize an overly alarmed populace. If everyone who carries were to carry open it wouldn't be an issue. People would see that there are plenty of people who actually go armed every day and understand we are not abnormal. For drawing attention to oneself, I haven't seen it to be an issue. I have seen (men primarily) people open carry both here in Shelbyville and in Murfreesboro and most people don't even notice. If you choose a good holster and pistol that doesn't stand out it would be the same as wearing two different shoes. Most people are so self absorbed they will never see anything. Now, I prefer stainless or hard chrome. I'm currently working on being comfortable with polymer framed black pistol other than my ever present P32 so things may change, but for now, open carry for me would draw some eyes. And I will most likely not open carry on a regular basis. I have also moved toward being "gray" as my hair led the way. I learned in the service to be average, don't draw attention, so there's that. Wasn't always that way. If you study and train, being dis-armed becomes a non issue. For example, in some situations my arm stays glued to my hip. Not hand on pistol, just arm covering it. Just habit when people are close. I have to add that my wife is accustomed to me constantly scanning when we are out. She has learned I'm not looking for another woman but rather keeping the one I have safe. My friends know that my lack of eye contact in conversations isn't lack of interest in what they have to say but interest in us not being a target. Just because one is paranoid does not mean there isn't someone out to get them.

For someone with a felony conviction for a machine gun it's fairly logical to me. SKS would have been a great buy and bury rifle back in the day they were so cheap. illegible serial number throwaway for the intended shooter. Odd to me is the golf course was not on the schedule but the shooter knew in advance and lay in wait 12 hours. How did he know DJT was going to be there?

This is why there are no school systems adopting the teacher carry law. Our higher education system has good and bad points. Pushing socialist agendas and pacifist practices are positively on the bad list.

I carried an Old Timer lock back in a sheath on my belt in high school. I never had a question. I've said before, I read an article by an old gun writer who grew up during the depression, he stated he took his 22 rifle to school every day and hunted meat on the way home. He said the teacher put it in the closet with the rest of them. Americans have been duped into it's a gun problem. It's obvious it isn't.

20 plus years ago, two boys were suspended for having a Smoky Mountain Knife Works catalog in school. We have not stood up against these stupidities until here we are. The adage of putting a frog in a pot of water and turning the heat up slowly comes to mind. I hope the family gets a Johnny Cochran type and tears the school system a new one.

A co-worker's daughter goes to Oakland. There were also two unsubstantiated gun threats on the same day. My wife works at a middle school in Metro Nashville. I hear what goes on there and I am very concerned.

I used to carry a Jennings 22 fishing, I don't fish anymore but I wouldn't carry a 22 fishing anymore. 4 Stingers at 2 yards and the damned copperhead was still coming. Not very fast but it was coming. Long story short the hoe took care of it and all four slugs hit the mark. Shoot for the head of the snake guys. And carry a big enough pistol. One shot to the head would have stopped it but again, we fight like we train and all 4 rounds went center mass. I'm not afraid of snakes, except copperhead. And my two youngest boys and ex wife were there. The boys had stepped OVER the snake so it was fight time.

Since I don't use the belt clip I removed it. gives the thumb break strap more room. I have mine on the forward side to fit my pistol better. Glad you found what you needed.

I have been told a 2 liter will do for 22 subsonic. can't imagine how you'd aim the contraption.

For myself it isn't a mental hump. I have used red dots and don't care for them. Inside of the 7 yard line it's point and squeeze. Sights are not a thought. The way I was taught and practice does not rely on aligning sights in short range defensive use. I'm not advocating that for anyone, but it works for me, quite well. I don't use any optics unless I need magnification. Extreme astigmatism will cause issues for me at times with any optic. and as @1gewehr stated, electronics will fail. That may never be an issue but you fight the way you train. If that one in however many chance hits in a gunfight you're going to hesitate and we know what happens there. I have only recently picked up polymer framed pistols (other than my P32 which is over 30). I prefer heavier handguns for shooting. Recovery is just quicker and easier. All metal pistols are a pain to carry at times but as I have said, there's always a trade off. all that to say if we are going to lighter poly frame cut slide pistols for carry comfort, why add ounces back into the holster? Add to all of the cost involved choosing something that fits an optic you're comfy with and finding a comfy holster. It all adds time and expense that I don't want or need.

I encourage everyone to pick what they are comfortable with and practice, practice, practice then practice some more. But for the cost of a new pistol and optic I could shoot what I have enough to rival Jelly Bryce.

I wouldn't use the AceCase for carry. I tried it and it just did not work for me. but they are good for this type of use. Especially with the mag pouch. Their fitment chart is pretty wide. Maybe contact them. Let us know how it comes out.

As bad as I hate saying so, try Walmart. They used to carry uncle Mikes's like you're asking about. If that doesn't work, try ACE CASE direct. I've not seen his work in person But I did see some of his stuff in magazine back in the day. My HS friend spoke highly of him as a person so I believe it. I've always been in awe of those who take one and rebarrel, change from 6 to five shot or any of the things he does. I would LOVE to do what he does but I'm way past the point of getting a return on the investment. In the end, if I'm in the market for a top end revolver, I know where to go hands down.

One of our members posted what his investment was for his Cali shop. Cost would dissuade most. It's a long learning curve also. Mr Bowen is to my understanding a true smith who could build a firearm from scratch.

I am not changing my routine just yet. But i did get a cheap rifle hard case and a bike lock cable a while back JIC.

When you're in high demand in low saturation you can pick and choose. Look at the price on a high end full custom 1911. The more exclusive you make yourself the more you can charge, providing there is reputation and demand. I'm thinking of Minton T-Bird resto shop. I can understand not working on vintage/historic pistols like OLD Colt's SAA. I can understand not working on some of the copies as there used to be some truly substandard reproductions. From What I've seen of Bowen, he really likes S&W and Ruger DAs. I can't say anything about any other custom smith. Not throwing shade at Cimmaron for sure. They make great replicas.

Girl I went to high school with went to law school with him. Not that she would or could pull any strings with him. She kinda hates me now. LOL. But he is excellent.
