  1. Well I was in the Army so, not ALL of it.
  2. I started a spreadsheet, made a few trades and,,, Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
  3. You never cease to surprise me sir. Well said. But we cannot ignore the obvious degradation of our society either. I'm from the end of the boomer generation and I see that the slide has increased dramatically over the last ten years. The upside is that those of us who see things as they really are have become vocal. That is education. "But if this ever changing world in which we live in makes you give in and cry"
  4. Just to be clear, I don't want any add ons on my carry piece. I even prefer fixed sights, no optics, on lights, no comp. Slide cuts maybe, but only factory original. I'm not against some minor internal work, feed ramp, sear. But in a self defense situation one wants the simplest most reliable firearm with no mods to keep the ambulance chasers at bay. And of course,,,work as intended.
  5. to back up my anger, this was just sent. Thank you @Grayfox54 for bringing this to my attention. Were I in Nevada I would be taking things a bit further. Dear Senator Blackburn, Please expedite the solution to food shortages at Fort Carson and investigate whether this is happening at any of our other military installations. Ther is absolutely no excuse for our soldiers to not have sufficient meals. I am not placing blame on you or your office, I am proud of your accomplishments and look forward to the next term. As a taxpayer, voter, and veteran I believe that someone must be held accountable. I wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving. While we celebrate I will pray that our soldiers recieve a good meal. Thank You, Mark Parkhurst
  6. there is absolutely no excuse for this. We have seen many shortfalls in the VA system but for the mess hall to not have enough food to feed the troops is beyond reason. The articles mention the base takes in 22 million but only spent 5 million? I don't care how much you have to throw out, make sure our soldiers have enough to eat. As was once said, "an Army travels on it's stomach". I cannot express my furor.
  7. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Wife is humming in the kitchen making stuffing, we'll head to the daughter's for dinner. Just enjoying the day.
  8. You have to go on their site and get the "coupon" for $2-4 off. Oh and check out what a table costs if you wera a vendor. The promoters are getting rich and customers are getting screwed. But I still go sometimes, especially if I need odd ammo or magazines. this is a great reference for where, when and how much Tennessee Gun Shows 2024 | List of Gun and Knife Shows in Tennessee
  9. yep, us poor people can't get a break.
  10. I understand, not as much fun without someone to share. I drag my wife with me. She's a great bargaining tool.
  11. I ran across an event on the show website near Westmoreland. Place called Ole Milliken Store has a gun/knife trader show every second Saturday. I plan on checking it out as I like seeing what normal people have rather than dealers. I can always see new stuff at local dealers.
  12. I kinda thought that made sense. I had a couple. Witness is a great pistol, one of those I wish I'd kept. Right now EDC is Brazilian and I don't expect a change.
  13. I like my BIL and he is a conservative. He would leave but his wife LIKES it there. (actually she stays for her job)
  14. good deal. good luck
  15. I too will renew my benefactor status after the holidays. We had some unexpected vet expense that threw our budget out. Then a trip to Hamilton Miss to get another dog. Anyway, I have seen a couple of sites that shut down after the new dealer rules were announced. Armslist went to crap. I hadn't noticed a decline in available market, maybe because I'm not seriously looking at the moment but whatever, I'm ALWAYS looking. I look at an e trader site that is primarily E Tenn a lot and like it's been said, if I want it and it's priced right it's east of Knoxville. On similar line, I joined a Carolina forum expressly to ask if one of the posters would do an FFL transfer at my expense. The pistol si still posted but never got a response. edit: I would drive for the right deal but you have to factor in time and cost. After adding the expense of the drive is it still a good deal? And Cali Greg? I have a BIL in Cali and I still wouldn't cross the border.
  16. New to me term, please explain.
  17. Really wish I could make it up. Best of luck to them all!
  18. first time I ever remember. Go Tigers!!
  19. does a factory ported 357 count? or are we talking about autos only? Also, do you count muzzle brakes as compensators? Flash hiders? (yeah I have an AR pistol) I think we're painting with a wide brush here. Just my opinion. But I do agree in principle, the tacticool stuff is overdone and SD pistols should be as simple as possible. Mag funnels, slide cuts, comps. All fine in competition when one's life is not on the line. I have a light on my nightstand pistol but wouldn't carry that way. No optics on my defense arms either. (sorry)

    photo test

    Clear and good quality. pass
  21. I'll be sure to stop in next time I am up there.
  22. I had a bid on a Jericho in .45. I thought it went too high and let it slip away, very bad decision on my part.
  23. Are they still a full service store? So glad they are still open!
  24. Nice looking piece. I've never carried appendix and don't carry IWB anymore due to the spare tire. I do however have the same irrational fear of striker fired no manual safety pistols. I have one, but doubt I'll carry it ever. It was an impulse buy at a pawn shop. I have a thing for Taurus .45s so I just bought it. The trigger is absolutely terrible. I'm sure I could get used to it but I'll stick with my SA/DA or a 1911 pattern. So how is the trigger on your 92?

    Colt Kodiak

That's pretty! I'm a sucker for unfluted cylinder revolvers.
