  1. As Sempratus mentioned, the better shops & shows are in Middle TN. Any one of close to a dozen shops in the Nashville area is better than what our best one is here, IMO. Ah, well. It is what it is. Camp Jordan shows used to be better, pre-covid. Hopefully that will pick up before too long? Right now it's worth the 2hr drive to the Knoxville Expo show, IMO. One range not mentioned is the one off of Hwy 411, in Polk Co. It's on National Forrest property but it's unmanned. Has a nice shed, benches & so forth. There may or may not be any target holders so it's better to bring a big cardboard box of something to use. Some folks use some PVC pipe to assemble a target holder for example. Public range, fee is something like $6 per car load but I could be wrong on that price. It's been a while since I've used it. Oak Ridge, TN has a pretty nice range. Goes out to either 800 or 1000 yards, I don't recall which. Open to the public. Google them up to get a more accurate poop than what I know. I've never used it. so I can't say too much about them. If you haven't already, please look into joining the TN Firearms Association. They're our local NRA except they're actually influential. They're the reason TN has better gun laws than 90% of the rest of the US. I've been a member for close to 12-15 years now. TFA web site. The SE TN corner is blessed with all sorts of terrain for outdoorsmen. Hiking, hang gliding, fly fishing, hunting, rafting, kayaking, motorcycling, photography, etc are all done here at all compass points. You won't have to keep going to the same place over & over, there's multiple options. It's the Smokies without the crowds or traffic, in short. If you get the occasional Big City itch, Atlanta is only an hour or so down I-75. Buckhead Mall is a fav of the ladies. There are multiple Civil War sites if you're interested in history. Lots of Indian history as well. Just a cool section of the country that offers things not many other places can, if any. My .o2
  2. Well............................ Were the law to take anyone who drove into a crowd with a deadly vehicle, throw a baby off a third floor level or stop your car to get out & shoot a 7 year old boy in the head "just because" & sat them in the electric chair about 2 days after it happened, I believe there would be fewer of those instances. But I could be wrong.
  3. Sounds like you hit the doggie lottery, IMO. I'm jealous! How about a free ACOG???????
  4. Are you kidding? The soccer moms would taking up pitchforks & torches were they to do so, IMO.
  5. Check out the gear made by Nordic Components as well. 1st class goodness.
  6. Story The insane part is that anyone whom believes the current administration is looking to keep criminals off the streets..................
  7. Tony Dow (Wally) & the guy who played Larry are still living. Everyone else is deceased. Barbara Billingsley HAD to have had THE best role post-Beaver with her role in Airplane, IMO.
  8. I watched it for the Eddie Haskell episodes..........................
  9. Who/what is the puppy in the background? Cute little thing!!!!
  10. I've been hitting GB for a USP .40 Compact. I've seen several .45acp Compacts in there. Nor do you have to be a member to search or see the prices, thank goodness. Most of the .45 models were decently priced as I recall. Worth a look, IMO.
  11. As the saying goes, these days you would be put UNDER the jail for that. Sad.
  12. Just a single rd holder? There's one I used to see all the time at 3 Gun matches that held two rds. That's the one *I* would opt for. DHF, I'm guessing you already have a sidesaddle shell holder on your shottie? FWIW, they also make some 6rd versions of those. My apologies if you already knew that? My .02

At that point *I* would've reached through my phone & introduced him to one of my boot camp DI's! You NEVER tell a customer "you don't want to hear about" something!!!!!! Ho Lee Schitt!!!!!! Who does he think he is, H&K?????
  14. I remember when the first com bloc SKS' came in to the shop I was working at. They were selling for $60 each but covered in cosmoline.
  15. For me, it'd be a lot more than crying. More like a screaming hissy fit......................... Do you recall what sort of problems there were with the PSA rifles?
  16. Yeah, I've shot there before. It's a wonderful range. Problem is, TWRA is a secular bureaucracy. They don't like sharing anything with the public despite them being publicly funded.
  17. Yeah, that surprised me too. I hear a lot of people bad mouthing them but I have an upper of theirs in .300B/O & am happy with it.
  18. Got my monthly magazine from USPSA & they always do the follow-up on who uses what in guns, ammo, gear, etc. Some of it is surprising, some of it isn't. But I thought I'd list the main items such as guns, ammo & holsters. For those times when we struggle to find a holster, these brands may not be well-known to non-competitive shooters. I know there are several I've never heard of. It surprises me that Glock has dropped as low as they have in participation %. When I first began USPSA, Glock dominated the Production & Limited classes. Now, not so much. Nice to see CZ making big jumps as well. When I began using my CZ at matches, I was the only one using them. Nice to know I was ahead of the curve for once in my life. LOL! They didn't list it but I wish they'd done one for the race gun barrel mfgrs. Open Division This is aka the race guns. Foot long mags, compensators, red dots, all the go-fast goodies for shooters. 19. They're just trying to shut down private sales, IMO. The gun grabbers, not the dealers. That's BS on running the seller.
  20. Biggest barrel I carry is my 3" Colt King Cobra. The rest are J-frame Smiths & my 2-1/2" Model 19. 4" isn't terribly viable anymore due to the multiple offerings, IMO. IWB holsters are a bugger to draw a 4" from & the OWB models are hard to hide unless one is 6' 5" or so.

JustEd, have you tried different bullet weights? When I shoot a Beretta 92Fs, I have to use 115gr ammo if I want a 6 o'clock hold. I use 124gr if I want a center of mass hold. It's a lot easier than changing sights. I agree with you on this issue as well.
  22. Sounds like water run-off has damaged the berms? Can't imagine this taking too long to repair? Maybe it's a budget thing?
