TN Permit Holders to be classed as LEOs?
bobsguns replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Given the amount of stories with no-knock raids on the WRONG addresses (often resulting in death), falsifying evidence & lying on the witness stand, videos of being complete assholes on traffic stops, I think we can at least acknowledge that the old days of Officer Friendly has long been buried, at least in the urban areas. There's just way, way too many cops who took the job for ego, power trip & lack of skills to do anything else, IMO. I know some personally & I wouldn't hire them to sweep my driveway, much less be a cop, sadly. But this bill has no chance of going anywhere, IMO. It's political posturing for his constituents & not much else, IMO. -
Depending on which part of TN you're in, the riding can vary greatly. Lots of rural areas to ride in, certainly. But from (say) the Cookeville/Manchester area to the eastern TN/NC border is where the best riding is. Options of riding in the valleys for the flatter roads to taking to the mountains for the twisties (Ducati/BMW!), there's plenty for everyone, IMO. Dealer support is good too, especially in Chattanooga. My advice is to avoid the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area like the plague. Bumper-to-bumper traffic almost all the time. Ride the Dragon once just to say you did it & then avoid that one too. Lots better options out there with minimal traffic. I'm down in the SE TN corner, where we do all the kayaking & rafting. Perfect motorcycle riding territory too. Let me know if you need help on anything?

I haven't read the story so I can't comment on the specifics of their trip. But there is no telling how much planning HAD to go into this trip in order to meet their charging needs. I also ponder when one of these breaks (which all vehicles do from time to time), how easily Jim Bob's Garage is going to be able to fix it? I have no worries about my Nissan Frontier getting parts or repairs, OTOH. Battery replacement cost is sky high these days as well, costing $5-6K from what I've read. Nor are the old batteries able to be recycled, they simply store them. Doesn't sound like a viable plan from my perspective.

TN Permit Holders to be classed as LEOs?

What about when private businesses had signs saying "whites only"? Was that right or wrong? Their rules, right? If you open to the public, you get/have to serve the ENTIRE public, IMO. Maybe I don't want people with purple hair? I still have to serve them. Maybe I don't like the Irish like they did in the 1800s? I still have to serve them. But I agree this bill will pass when they serve ice cream in hell. -
Ahhhhh, Ducati! When I hit my lottery win I shall buy a $30K Diavel X. That bike just doesn't call to me, it screams to me! LOL! With the Ducati & BMW, I'm very surprised you keep the Harley?

Well, I did lead all sales staff in total guns sold on any given weekend. But seriously, if a gun sits on a table for weeks/months/years at an inflated price, what's it worth then? No one buys it, so it's not worth that price, IMO.
-
Were you all going to have a handgun refinished, where would you send it? I'm thinking some sort of Np3-type of finish. Most likely the slide only as the frame is polymer. The gun may be a H&K USP that has the "rugged" look to it. LOL! @ken_mays, please pick up the white courtesy phone.

I think it's pretty much as you've said. It doesn't allow for Gomer's famous "Citizen's arrest! Citizen's arrest!" for permit holders. Gun grabbers are all blathering about guns being stolen from cars but they're silent when I point out the owners HAVE to leave them there because they can't take them in. Crickets from them. I have mixed feelings on this bill. I think it should be cleaned up & tightened up a bit, IMO. My .o2 -

Mine has heated grips! LOL!!!

Won't you have to change your screen name now?????? Beautiful gun, IMO!!!!!

I disagree. We (I) would tell buyers all the time at gun shows, "A gun is worth only what someone will pay for it." Not Blue Book value, not sticker price value, not some seller's story about his granddaddy value. You decided on the value for the gun & the seller agreed to that value. Nothing wrong with that & that's how it should work, IMO. Both the buyer & seller are happy, they both got what they wanted. Nothing to make fun of on that, IMO. I once had a Postal Meter Carbine, FWIW, I don't know which was more "rare", them or your IBM?

Ehhh, not absolutely screwed, IMO. We would slap a fresh rd into the chamber & then slap the lift gate on the bottom which releases the bolt (which I'm sure you know). Then, if we needed to, slid in an additional extra rds into the mag tube. It's a lot faster than it sounds. I had one match in Cleveland, TN where a clay got tossed into the air. It was my LAST target & I had an empty shottie. Everyone enjoyed a good laugh at my expense on that one. On another match there, I fired my last rd on the last target, locking the bolt back for the "cease fire" command. Ironically, I did a (for me) super fast tactical reload of 5-6 rds shortly before. I didn't have a target count nor rd count. It just happened to work out perfectly for me that ONE time for me. Funny part was, everyone thought I'd done it on purpose. I kept quiet on that one!

Nah, were I to do that, they'd send you back a Lorcin or Jennings!

This is not good. . not good at all.

Beretta beat them to it several years ago. Seems a dazzling young urbanite removed a mag from one said Beretta, pointed it at his "friend" & pulled the trigger. Dazzling young urbanite did NOT clear the chamber after removing the mag & we all can guess what happened with the trigger pull. Don't recall if it was a judge or jury trial, but Beretta was found guilty of negligence (or settled, can't remember) because they DIDN'T PROVIDE A WARNING IT WOULD FIRE WITHOUT THE MAG! Yes, boys & girls, gun owners are TOO GD stupid to know to NOT pull the trigger on a loaded gun. They HAVE to be told by the mfgr to NOT do that. You can't make this stuff up. Seems like S&W got sued over one of their AR's being used illegally as well? I don't recall the results of that one. Aside from Ronnie Barrett, I don't recall a single gun mfgr having the balls to tell a plaintiff to go screw themselves over a lawsuit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong there? -
You're gonna get back a Sigma!!!!!!

Hypocrisy is the one thing that liberals can always be counted on as having, IMO. I think the prevention of enforcing immigration laws by the states is an excellent rebuttal to that jackass Garland. -
As Sempratus mentioned, the better shops & shows are in Middle TN. Any one of close to a dozen shops in the Nashville area is better than what our best one is here, IMO. Ah, well. It is what it is. Camp Jordan shows used to be better, pre-covid. Hopefully that will pick up before too long? Right now it's worth the 2hr drive to the Knoxville Expo show, IMO. One range not mentioned is the one off of Hwy 411, in Polk Co. It's on National Forrest property but it's unmanned. Has a nice shed, benches & so forth. There may or may not be any target holders so it's better to bring a big cardboard box of something to use. Some folks use some PVC pipe to assemble a target holder for example. Public range, fee is something like $6 per car load but I could be wrong on that price. It's been a while since I've used it. Oak Ridge, TN has a pretty nice range. Goes out to either 800 or 1000 yards, I don't recall which. Open to the public. Google them up to get a more accurate poop than what I know. I've never used it. so I can't say too much about them. If you haven't already, please look into joining the TN Firearms Association. They're our local NRA except they're actually influential. They're the reason TN has better gun laws than 90% of the rest of the US. I've been a member for close to 12-15 years now. TFA web site. The SE TN corner is blessed with all sorts of terrain for outdoorsmen. Hiking, hang gliding, fly fishing, hunting, rafting, kayaking, motorcycling, photography, etc are all done here at all compass points. You won't have to keep going to the same place over & over, there's multiple options. It's the Smokies without the crowds or traffic, in short. If you get the occasional Big City itch, Atlanta is only an hour or so down I-75. Buckhead Mall is a fav of the ladies. There are multiple Civil War sites if you're interested in history. Lots of Indian history as well. Just a cool section of the country that offers things not many other places can, if any. My .o2

Well............................ Were the law to take anyone who drove into a crowd with a deadly vehicle, throw a baby off a third floor level or stop your car to get out & shoot a 7 year old boy in the head "just because" & sat them in the electric chair about 2 days after it happened, I believe there would be fewer of those instances. But I could be wrong. -
Sounds like you hit the doggie lottery, IMO. I'm jealous! How about a free ACOG???????
-
Are you kidding? The soccer moms would taking up pitchforks & torches were they to do so, IMO.
