I have an AK and a run of the mill Norinco SKS. I'm thinking I'd like an SKS-M, which is the 16" version that accepts AK magazines. What do you think of yours?

That sucks. I was under the impression there was a legal, if difficult and expensive, way to become an American citizen.

It isn't very difficult, but seems intimidating if you haven't done it. I kept wondering when I'd get to the hard part, but it never came. My only trouble was launching the tiny c clip that goes on the dust cover hinge pin. One tap with a hammer got it started, and as I was about to hit it again, it came to life and jumped into parts unknown.

Good choice. You could spend twice the money and not get a better gun in my opinion. Just like a Mora knife, the Rock Island 1911's are the bargain of our age.

How so? No safeties or other gadgets to fuss with. Just pull the trigger. I'm left handed, and haven't noticed any problems.   Since you mentioned being left handed, I'm a Smith and Wesson fan, but I found you almost need a screwdriver to pry the safety into the fire position on the Shield I've handled. It's also on the wrong side for you.

So far I haven't been able to improve upon the Ruger LCP for an accurate, reliable pocket carry pistol. Spend the extra $200 on ammo.

Mine leaks with small ball powders. Everything else works great in it. Just a design flaw. You can take it apart, clean it, and polish the cone shaped area to improve this, as it is made from plastic and some powders cut grooves in it over time.

Circa 1990.   We were about to close the grocery store for the night where I worked when we saw a vehicle hit my co worker's truck in the parking lot and speed off. We called twice with a description of the vehicle. My aunt and uncle used to live in Antioch. It was o.k. until a Laotian gang moved in next door. They ate my aunt's Cocker Spaniel, and there were regular drive by shootings. How about the 50%-50% statistic stated on the electronic signs? If half the people killed weren't wearing a seatbelt, what were the other half doing? That isn't anecdotal;  it is statistical.   If you wanted to prevent death by auto accident, you would never get in an automobile.

My 19 gets carried on occasion, but my 28 gets the range time. An N frame makes 357 Mags tolerable to shoot, and the double action trigger can't be beat.
