  1. Speaking as a former gun shop operator. If I got something impossible to obtain, I usually saved it and offered it to the 20 or so regular customers who seemed to buy about a gun a week each. You have to reward your good customers. If that means you don't have any for the stranger who walks in off the street ,so be it. That system worked for me. I played around with it for 9 months and averaged selling 5.2 guns a day.
  2. I have owned dozens of the J frames over the years in all configurations. In my opinion they are the best concealed carry guns out there. I do not like the centennial. It feels odd in my hand. Like something is missing from the top and it is going to slide down. The Model 60 is a great little gun, but a bit heavy and the hammer sometimes snags on my coat pocket if I get in a hurry to get it out. I still have 5 j frames but my favorite is a satin nickel 638 that I have carried for about 20 years. The finish is a bit worn, but you would be surprised how good it  still looks after 20 years of carry in an inside the waistband holster. It wears a crimson trace laser grip for when my wife takes it someplace with her. I have over 30 handguns but whenever one of us goes someplace it is usually the one that goes with us. I have been a gun dealer and owned hundreds of handguns. In my opinion the 638 is the best of all of them.
  3. I have had worse experiences than Comcast. I just can't think of one right now.

    Carry question

This. The usual penalty around here is about $250.00 in fines and court costs and the loss of your gun.
  5. My son-in-law worked several years as a county deputy. Now is Assistant Police Chief. He says as long as you have a proper backstop it is perfectly legal. If you do not have a proper backstop, you can be charged with reckless endangerment. If you are shooting at night, you could be charged with disturbing the peace.
  6. I'm not that crazy, but my personalized license plate reads ( GUN NUT ).

    Glock 42

Main advantage I see to it is the lighter trigger pull. I have a Bodyguard and a LCP and both carry great but the long trigger pull makes them hard for me to shoot well. The Glock is larger making it harder to pocket carry but the better trigger pull might make it worth the larger size.
  8. Open carry is legal and should remain legal. That being said, I lived most of my life in this state in a time where it was illegal for most people to carry a firearm. I do not want to go back to that time. Many citizens of this state do not believe as we do, and think no one should have a right to carry a firearm. When you open carry, you, in a way, rub their noses in it. Get enough of them calling their representatives and we could one day go back to no firearm carry. We have finally gotten back a portion of our constitutional right and I do not want to in any way contribute to losing it again. If you disagree, fine open carry if you want. I will be more careful about not waking the sleeping dog.

    Glock 42

Sounds like a good deal. They are selling on Gunbroker for $600. Over on FFLONLY forum the dealers are saying that distributors have a boat load of them ready to release on Jan 20. Supposedly Glock foresaw the demand and produced a large quantity this time before releasing them. We shall see.
  10. Farm bureau has been good to me the last 20 years. 2 or 3 claims, all paid promptly with no hassle. Got my commercial building through Shelter. Would have checked Shelters prices on homeowners but the Athens office was posted.
  11. I wouldn't think that they would be liable as long as they sold it legally. At any rate, I carried a million dollar liability policy through the NRA Business Alliance just in case something like this came up. I would think about all gun dealers carry insurance nowdays.   I would not say 99 percent of denials are overturned, but out of about 20 I had denied probably 15 were later approved. I think this shows that they are causing extra problems for a lot of innocent people. I also bet that all 20 were counted in the statistics showing how many criminals are prevented from buying guns each year by instant check.
  12. As Oh Shoots says, it is up to your FFL whether he transfers it or not. The background check people try to discourage the FFL from transferring the gun by advising that if it is later denied, then ATF will have to retrieve the gun from the buyer. When I had an FFL, I always went ahead with the transfer and ATF never had to retrieve a gun from any of them. Most of the time, I never heard anything back from TICS after getting a Conditional Proceed.
  13. If you can't find what you need at Tractor Supply, try the local Farmers Co-op. The cattle that I used to have to doctor were not too good about taking capsules. I usually had to inject them. Both places also carry syringes. In a true SHTF situation, you might have to just man up and take an injection of cattle antibiotic.
  14. You can get antibiotics for cattle at Tractor Supply. Most of it probably is produced in the same labs as meds for humans.
  15. I think this is about what will happen. It is not a question of IF but WHEN. I am older and hope it is after my lifetime. A few will hide their guns. Most will turn them in. They will catch one law abiding citizen in each community with a hidden gun and give him 10 years in prison. After that most people with hidden guns will throw them in a deep lake.
  16.   If you keep the $10K ones sealed  in the little plastic bags that the federal reserve ships them in, it is not a problem.
  17. I bought a new S&W M&P Sport for $565 and a new Rock River LAR for $700 off Gunbroker in the last 30 days. The bottom has fallen out of AR's.

    Para P12

You may have a good one. I bought two brand new stainless P12's about 10 years ago. I thought it was a great platform. Unfortunately, I could not get either one of mine to run. Never had one since.
  19. I just bought a new S&W Sport on Gunbroker  for $565 plus $35 shipping. No tax just a $35 transfer fee. For the money, the sport can not be beat.
  20. My LCP is a little picky with hollowpoints. If yours turns out be be the same way, try Remington Golden Saber. Mine loves them.
  21. You never know when an old charge might pop up. I did a background check on a customer purchasing a firearm. He was denied. I informed the TICS examiner that there had to be a mistake and to please check it again as this buyer had a Tennessee Handgun permit. She did, then informed me that his handgun permit was being revoked. Turns out he was arrested in California for car theft in 1949. Charges were dropped but the police had never updated the records on the case. Took forever to get his permit back.
  22. I carried one for 20 years. The cylinder finally locked up on it. I returned it to North American for repairs and they sent me a new gun at no charge. Great little guns and unparalled customer servive.
  23. My Crystal ball says:   1. The grand jury will indict him as the grand jury only hears the prosecutors side of the case. 2. The court will then dismiss the case after they find out they have no legal grounds. 3. He will sue the city and police dept for one million dollars. 4. The Tennessee Municipal League will settle with him for around $25,000 just because they will be afraid that they might just get a      jury as radical as he is.   That's my prediction.
  24.   I think what you are overlooking is the fact that this will be settled by an insurance company, not a jury. A jury would probably rule against him in a civil suit, but the insurance people are afraid to take that chance. They will settle with him for a substancial sum to avoid the small chance that he might win a multimillion dollar judgement. I got sued once and the attorney advised me that it cost $35,000 minimum to try a case in court. If you can settle for that, you settle, even if you have an airtite defense. And in this case the governments insurance company has far from an airtite defense.
  25.   I guess that is possible, but I can see no reason for him to have paid a $200 transfer stamp to transfer it to a trust when as a Special Occupational Taxpayer, he can own and use as many suppressors as he wants without paying any transfer tax. He also would not need a chief law enforcement Officers signature to purchase it for his business. When I had a Class 3 license, I never transfered a firearm to myself. When I gave up the license, all machine guns and suppressors left in inventory became my personal property without having to pay $200 each to transfer them.
