Hmm. How times change, I guess. I just saw a new model with a birch stock that was pretty nice, then. To the OP, I look at the comparison in two ways. First, during normal times, you can walk into any gun shop or sporting goods store in America and find magazines and accessories for your 10/22 at a reasonable price. If you ever want to "upgrade", there may not be another platform save the AR-15 for which as many aftermarket parts have been made. Second, I look at it simply. There are a lot of .22s in my safe. We shoot a lot. The 10/22 carbine that I got for my 13th birthday is still one that I reach for and still gets shot in heavy rotation. I can't say that for a lot of others sitting there.

Were it me, I'd try to add another $50 and opt for the classic walnut Ruger 10/22. There's nothing wrong with the 795, though.

These are the AR's your friends warned you about.

I do not particularly like Mark Sanford, and think he represents a lot of what's wrong with our political system. That said, I'll chalk this one up to further proof that the DNC has never met a sure thing that they couldn't find a way to screw up. -
How ya gonna build your TGO billet lower?

Never thought I'd say this, but...
MacGyver replied to tartanphantom's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I expect it had more to do with the veritable DDOS attacks that gun owners were unwittingly unleashing on their site whenever Federal bulk packs and the like were in stock. I seem to recall him saying something recently about the notification system being utilized recently far beyond the capacity it was designed to support. I can appreciate them turning it down if it's not reliable. That, and I can support them turning the volume down some - so to speak. If you've got a bunch of gun owners reacting like Pavlov's dogs everytime they get a stock notification, this ammo shortage is going to last a lot longer than it needs to. -
Best crust in Nashville. Carry friendly with their drivers, too. My local store owner went a long way to support one of their drivers after he was involved in a shooting following a robbery attempt.

The MakerBot, which is arguably the big player in the "recreational" space is around $2000.

Times have changed. I just bought a 3D printer for less than $400. It takes up about the same amount of space as either my 7x16 lathe or my CNC mill.

For me, it's Jet's 8 corner. Put it in a cold oven. Turn the oven to 450. Set the timer for 8 minutes. Your mileage may vary.

Just left Lipscomb's campus. Taught in one of their graduate programs. They're doing some good work. Congrats to your brother! They've got a neat program. If he doesn't have a job yet, make sure he talks to the faculty. They've got a lot good connections.

This is a fairly lengthy read, but the hypothesis really seems to make some sense out of the chaos that we're seeing develop right now. It prompts some really interesting questions for those of us in the engineering space, the education space and the entrepreneurial space. http://www.forbes.com/sites/venkateshrao/2012/09/03/entrepreneurs-are-the-new-labor-part-i/ Thoughts?

That barrel extension is pretty cool. 72db is awfully quiet.

When you've got a stash like that, you shouldn't have to drink it in the garage ;)

If it's the strain of Norovirus that's been prevalent this year, bleach is your ultimate friend. From a friend of mine at the CDC: Bleach trumps all when disinfecting surfaces, toys etc... Doesn't need to be full strength. Normal cleaning dilution is fine. Hand sanitizer is ineffective against it. But soap and water works fine. It can live on surfaces for days, and some people continue to shed the virus for 3 days after symptoms have stopped No preparing food for others for three days after symptoms have stopped For little ones who can't reliably keep their hands clean, quarantine is key For little ones who get sick, dehydration is the biggest factor - hydrate as much as possible

I'd love to introduce some hogs to these. I'll take them if you've still got them. -
Value of a Mod 1928 Thompson?
MacGyver replied to jdw174's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
You've got someone who actually has a transferable Thompson who doesn't know it's value? They've been going for $15-18K in great condition. That's assuming that all the paperwork is there and the weapon is actually legal to transfer. -

I don't know what a particular Master Dealer would save you, but we've got a few on here. It's probably worth calling and having the conversation. For my money, were I going to spend that on a pistol, I'd go for a Springfield Armory Pro PC9111. That's the gold standard in my book. At $2,600, it's still a lot less than the list on the Wilson Combat. Or, you could call Jeff Meister and get him to build you a true custom with top shelf parts exactly to your spec. Either one of those will shoot at least as well as the Wilson. Shoot, for $3,875 you could just about get both.

That soft foam is different than what Sig is selling. The devil is in the details.

Make sure you work with a Master Dealer. They'll save you a lot of money off that list price.
