I have 3 eagle-tac's. They are nice lights. I still like my surefires for pistol mounted lights Mark

Speed dial#1: Dlm for powder & primers Speed dial #2: caster for bullets Speed dial #3: dolomite - surely he can figure out how to make brass from a Prius or something else equally useless...

Chazmr, pretty sure after the first glass of water you will be convinced. We are drinking twice as much water now. Having good clean water to cook with is nice too...

David please express our condolences to you daughter. Mark

Mark A replied to Clod Stomper's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
David, which Sierra is it? I am way heavy on 223 right now but if someone down this way wanted to split some I would be in. Mark -

I would be in for 1000 of the 147's. Really would prefer something a little lighter but this would be fun to play with . I've been trying to buy more from David but it is really hard for me to get to shows... Just let me know, Mark -
And that is why my 870 is the first thing I can reach from my bed. I enjoy shooting AR's and such but nothing quite says here I am like a 12ga slug... Mark

Caster, after burning through 3 foodsaver units in the last couple of years (the last one lasted 8 bags) I finally bit the bullet and bought the tank: http://www.cabelas.c...EO;cat104668380 Expensive as heck but it is built like it was made in the 50's and has rebuildable parts. It is a monster. I added a 2nd freezer and am starting to re-organize how everything is stored. I think I am going to have to design a simple database so I can keep track of what we have as we seem to "lose" things in the depths of the freezer... Mark

Recent Berkey adoptee here. I already drank a lot of water but that is almost all we drink now. We have a big berkey that we could toss in the truck if needed. I bought the sport bottle to keep in my pack in the truck. It would be a hassle to deal with for more than one person but it could be done. Now that we see how much we like the berkey I think I will save up and buy the go model as well. If nothing else we can use it in the camper. One thing I like about the berkey filters is if there were no other option you could carry one of the filters and turn just about any container that you can poke a hole in into a filtration system. I allow 10 minutes or so extra just to give them a moment to break free and do what they need to. I've flown Southwest and American out of Nashville and had zero issues. Mark

Yes, the dents were there before sizing. The range where they were picked up was gravel and it was at the end of a 3 day class. They got stepped on a lot. I've over lubed a few cases before but they just squished down. I've not seen a case get a vertical crease yet. But, like everything else it is something to watch for. I'm glad you mentioned pressure as I hadn't thought of that. My practice loads are pretty middle of the road so I should be safe but still it bears keeping it in mind. Thanks for the info, Mark

I've read plenty of threads where posters say not to worry about dents in brass as it will get fixed as soon as the cartridge is fired. Does this include dents that cross the shoulder area of a bottle necked round? I'm curious if any gas will escape the seal before the brass is reformed. thanks for any thoughts or advice, Mark

Zimmerman is now apparently a child molester.

My prediction is that she is a scorned girlfriend wannabe... I would like to see the judges writings on this release. It sure seems prejudicial to me... I would think that about sews up getting a new judge although he is on his second. At some point the judging community will close ranks and say no more. -
Beltman for almost 4 years here. Still looks brand new.

Scranton, Pa slashes City workers' pay to minimum wage

I will bet that Holder had to change his shorts when he saw this. He will go screaming into town with the rest of the DOJ. Anything that can distract from fast and furious will get his immediate attention... Mark -
It would be funny as hell to run a class with that. Here kitty kitty kitty...blam!

Shipping kills you unless you are willing to buy a pallet at a time. Another good local source is Jeffco grills near Fesslers lane. He usually keeps a couple different brands and offers decent quantity discounts. Mark

So metalhead is now going to be a Pellethead? I like the looks of the Yoder. I bought a Traeger a little over a year ago. I've enjoyed the heck out of it. I never really liked smoked meats but apparently that is because a lot of folks smoke it too heavily. The pellet smokers are generally a little lighter in the smoke application. I really like filling the hopper, setting the temp, and going off to bed while it does it's thing. I smoked 3#'s of ground turkey (used for taco meat) and 6 racks of baby back ribs today. Academy sports recently started selling a Traeger clone. To support that they have private labeled what appear to be BBQr's delight pellets at a great price. Enjoy and post some pics of your cooks, Mark

My wife and I took a class there. We thought it a bit pricey compared to classes we've taken in other places. Not enough participation either Mark

Dennis, I recently bought an All American, I think I got the 921. A friend actually suggested the 930 but I decided to save a bit and go one smaller. Jury is still out. The taller one makes it easier to double stack. With a pressure canner you don't technically have to keep a pot of boiling water going for the jars and lids. I still sterilize them but you don't have to. I also have friends that use the sanitize cycle on the dishwasher and then hold them hot. Cuts down on the stovetop real estate quite a bit. I make smoked salsa. Freezing it left the tomatoes mushy. Canning it leaves it nice and fresh... And who knew pickled garlic was so yummy. I had a bunch of garlic that I was afraid was going to go bad. I wondered if I could can it. Out came my trusty ball canning book and I was off to the races... Mark

Has anyone had any dealings with "Power 4 Patriots" ?
Mark A replied to Deerbnb's topic in Survival and Preparedness
USMC and I are on the same page here. If you can use a lot of hot water solar is beneficial. I watched a small tech company try to downsize an adsorption chiller for residential use. They tried for about 5 years before folding. Someone will figure it out soon. Virtually free heating and cooling year 'round. No compressor.. The loudest component is the circ pump. Mark -
Hey Dennis1209... I am with you on how much work canning can be. I started this year with some apple butter. Had to peel about a ton of apples to get 4 pints of product. But, I keep working at it. I've added a pressure canner so that I can do some other stuff that can't be water bath canned. It works well. I'm lucky on the gas range part. Plenty of heat available. I wonder if you could use a turkey fryer or fish fryer burner? It wouldn't be completely convenient to run back and forth outside but you should have plenty of BTU's to keep a nice rolling boil. Mark

Man I like that rifle...

I generally don't when turning out range ammo. It just isn't worth it. But, since you asked and since I do it regularly on my .223 loads I bought an extra head and a single sizing and depriming die. I can crank around 450 an hour when that is the only thing happening. I just let them ride around and fall out like a loaded round would. Then I clean the primer pockets and uniform them up. A bonus with this is when the brass comes back through to be loaded it takes less effort per stroke Mark
