  1. I was in 6th grade civics class (remember those you old geezers?) giving an oral report on daily news items. One of my favorite teachers, Mr. Anderson, interrupted my stellar analysis of some local item to tell us that the President had been shot. The whole class seemed stunned and we watched a tv all the rest of the day as the events unfolded.
  2. Totally unfamiliar with the references, but the music was fantastic. The little girl was great. This is a cover?
  3. Killjoy.   Now I gotta start watching the dates on posts as well???
  4. Welcome home, Mike. Glad you are joining in here. I believe you will like what you find here. And love your avatar.
  5. Love the stainless with the black swirled pattern. I have those on my Commander.
  6. My wife and one of her friends will be selling Christmas Florals and table decorations. I get to go set it all up tonight. Hopefully, I won't have to work it with her all the time. Shameless Plug Coming. If you guys are looking for a good seasonal gift for your significant other...come on down. We will be in the gym area as far as I know.   Edit and Update. Wife will be in the gym with a work friend. I've been kicked out. Too little room there for 3 people in the booth.
  7. Sounds good. Hope it all comes together.
  8. Wow. Hadn't thought about that one in years. I'll have to find and watch it again. Don Knotts did some really good movies, sometimes a little on the hokey side; but enjoyable. And as an added bonus...everyone could watch them. Didn't need to screen the audience.
  9. Hey, jwinter, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a little silly. Humor is good for the body and soul.   Mr. Roberts and Operation Petticoat remain on my all time watchable list. Seeing Henry Fonda and Jack Lemon battle with the great Jimmy Cagney; along with a large number of other very good actors is a real movie fest. And whats not to like about Operation Petticoat?
  10. It's gonna have to be a heck ofa deal to get me going out in that insanity again. Did it for years when my late Mother moved in with us. She. bless her, and my dear wifey, ganged up on me every year. We always had to go out at 4 in the morning to start the rounds.
  11. Spooky. I thought I was watching the show for a moment.
  12. That's just being cruel.
  13. Don't feel bad...it's only money and pride.   I got the email too, but with all the posts I read yesterday; I thought I would wait and see what shows up in my area.
  14.   :stunned:  Unfortunately...he did. :squint:
  15.   That's one of the truths of politics. No matter what the background he /she comes from; the vast majority of politicos seem to immediately think that just because they want something...we, the people who put them in office, should and will pay any amount for all manner of items they come up with.
  16. I'll never be the kind of pistolero I'd like to be with a 1911, so for me it's pretty much a range toy. Not saying I might not have one loaded and available for other forms of use, but it's not my primary.   But...for many reasons, some I understand, some I don't, I do shoot more accurately with the 9 in most of my 1911 frames.
  17. Yep. She tells me that on a regular basis.
  18. Good comments, Luke. Like you, I did have a reasonable supply of my favorite shooting calibers on hand last Dec/Jan. So I wasn't in the fix some were. But that doesn't mean I stopped looking and buying. And still haven't. As others have said and done, I would go into Walmart once a week, varied times and days; whenever I happened to pass by, or when actually doing other shopping. Throughout it all, I saw virtually nothing but basic hunting calibers and shotgun rounds. Since this started, I can tell you I've managed to find 900rounds of 45. 100 rounds of 38. And that's been all I could get retail. Never any 9/22/357/. I did see some 40, but as that is something I don't shoot a lot, I didn't buy any. In the last 2 weeks, I've begun to see more 45 sitting on the shelves, 40, a few 38, but as yet, no 22. Maybe, as others are saying; we are seeing the return to normal, albeit slowly. I hope so. But in any event, anytime I find some, I intend to buy whatever I find in the major calibers for me. Won't go every day. Won't try to go in and out several times as I've heard being done, and won't deprive someone else the opportunity to buy. I will however, build up my supply to a comfortable point for me, and that number varies by caliber. I'll probably never reach that 10000 rounds each gun/caliber; But I don't intend to get caught short either. Definitely not a reseller, it's been too hard to come by. And don't consider myself a hoarder. Although my wife used to say that when I'd come in with several boxes of multiple calibers at the same time. LOL She did however get the message and see what was happening last year. She came in one night and actually asked if I need to go buy some ammo. And still will occasionally ask if I found any more. I got a good woman.

    Ruger SR 45

SR45. It is almost sacrilege to say this, but it's one of the best shooting non-1911 45 pistols I've ever shot. You will like it...a lot.
  20. Good advice. I've heard it before. Actually was from a guy in car sales.
  21. With the projected weather forecast, I'd say that's a very good possibility.   I might have to go just to keep my sanity though. My wife is doing a craft show at Centennial High School, and I don't think I can stand it all day.
  22.   Good thinking. That's the best way to look at it.
  23. Hopefully, it will go well for you.
  24.   Which? The brownie of the pizzaburger?
  25. Have you signed up for the Kroger Senior Discount yet?   That's when you are officially an old fart. Then you can join the ranks of the First Wednesday of the Month Club.
