Some will do that, but those usually don't do much selling or stay in business for very long. Word gets around pretty fast, especially on here, about less than pleasant places to spend our money.

Probably not the answer you'd like to hear, but it depends on so many different things these days. Some will negotiate, others won't. Kinda depends on the gun, and its popularity. The margin on pricing over cost. The shop's overhead. New or used product. Are you a first time buyer from that shop? Spend much there? Do you know the owners? Get along with them? So much goes into the "sale" that it is really difficult to give a flat yes or no answer to your question.

Another Fraud in the fight for gun control
hipower replied to towerclimber37's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Unfortunately, this is the accepted methodology of some, I'm not saying all, of the left to achieve their goals. This has been the case for who knows how long. Al the more reason to stay vigilant, know the facts, know the people you are dealing with, and never give up. -
Hey...we are talking zombie soap opera here..... What's to be happy about?

I'm with you, Mike. This season so far has been quite a letdown. Rick is wimping out. Getting rid of Carol? Com'n now. That's a little over the top for me. And won't Darryl have a little to say about Rick running his little squeeze away? Just a few of the many little irritants for me.

Actually makes about as much sense as other plans coming out of DC these days.

Ejector seats? Trapdoors? Come on guys. That's so 90's. The "Chief" had the best idea. A bulletproof "Cone of Silence" dropping from the ceiling is best.

There's a time and place for open carry. I don't think this was the one. Seems like trying to incite a response from the officer. I was recently in an Arbys for lunch, when I spotted a mid-20s(?)guy and his gf(?) get off a bike and come in. Noticed right away that he had a big Ruger in a cowboy rig on his hip. They stopped at the door and they talked while he adjusted his pistol and belt. Upon entering, he stopped and looked all around; like he was surveying a bar room, or maybe just giving all the staff and patrons a chance to check him out. Several people seemed to notice him, but no mention was made and I certainly wasn't going to give him the possible satisfaction of commenting on his gun. After ordering, I noticed the guy sat on the outside edge of his seat, with the gun showing and in full view. I swear he was looking for someone to start up. After a few minutes, he looked around and grabbed their food and left. Maybe just my overactive imagination, but I certainly thought it strange.

Recently picked up a Model 19, blued, 2 1/2 in. It is great. I heartily recommend one if you can find one reasonable. The 66 is another good one.

Somehow I missed the "report" I assume it was the same old song and dance about gun show purchases and private sales? Was that the case?

New homeowner finds shelter sealed since 1961
hipower replied to White Goodman's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I, for one, agree with you. I'd love to have a shelter of this sort. I do know of one in the Nashville area. Built in the front yard of a house in a hilly subdivision built in the early 70s. Access to the shelte is via a tunnel in the home's basement. Not a great shelter, only about 300 sq. ft., but still a neat hideyhole. -
Ok...my current reads. Kratmans Caliphate series...pretty good reads, although sometimes he gets a little too detail oriented and long winded. John Ringo...any and all his books are great; at least for me. But do think he took the Aldenta series a little to long. Seemed to really get bogged down. Larry Correia...Monster Hunter series is awesome, and the Chronicles of Grimnor I've liked so far. Read all the Jack Reacher and Davenport detective series earlier this year. Working on the Virgil Flowers books now. Just finished all the current(8) Longmire novels by Craig Johnson. Really enjoyed them. Could compare them to an updated Zane Grey style. The A&E show is pretty close to the books, but a lot of characters condensed and deleted from the books. About the only ones the same are Walt, Standing Bear and Vic. Oh.. and Ruby. Vic is every bit as rough and rowdy in the books, actually even more so. And a bit of a sizzle between Vic and Walt that's just hinted at in the show.

My #%&$@ Spike's Tactical AR
hipower replied to Under-No-Pretext's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Ditto. Get with Dolomite. The man knows his stuff. One of my regrets is not buying one of his Saigas when I had the chance. -
Tanker is right on line about the RI 1911s. I've got one in 45 and one in 9mm. They function and shoot as well as any 1911 I've owned. Not that I've had any of the 1200+ guns to compare them with, but they seem every bit as good as my Smith, Sigs, and Colts.

Actually, I'd expect something a lot better from Buds. But I've heard similar stories about some of their products lately. And the guy who does all the product reviews reminds me of the shifty californie salesmen we all love. WAY too much hype and wonder to be believable.

I take this opportunity to say "Thank You For Your Service" to all our past and present vets here. :usa:

A Veterans day message from me, and a request from Veterans.

Tanker...as if you haven't heard this before...for you and all our vets.... Thank You for Your Service to our Country. -
Where's the chain to hook it to your belt loop?

:usa: I proudly salute each of those courageous men. Sadly we are not likely to see their kind again. And we truly are watching history go away with the passing of each one.

Congrats! New toys are always fun. Be safe out there.

I haven't been to Murfreesboro show in several years, so I really don't know about how it is lately. But since it's less than 25 miles round trip for me, I'll probably go to this one
