I'll support a ban on high capacity magazines
hipower replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh...Eric, not him. Please...anybody but strel. I'd even vote for the Kentucky Conan before him. -
From my experiences, you can get a decent foam padded, zippered, soft-side case from 30 to 150+. It depends on the name brand and quality, as well as construction and features on them. On the other hand, a really good hardcase like the Pelicans can go for 200+. Seems like the last one I saw in a Gander Mtn. store was about 229. Of course, used cases can be found as well. Check e-bay or post a wtb ad here. Even web search. All kinds of possibilites out there.

As did i. It's great to see a small business owner standing by his convictions in the face of rampant liberalism.

Just my opinion, but as long as you aren't required to shoot only their ammo, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Yes, would be nice to be able to use test loads there, but not an absolute dealbreaker for me, at any rate.

I have used bos forms at times, mostly if the buyer or seller is insistant on it. But I will not record my dl# on any bos form for an individual. Address I can live with, though I prefer not to. Anyone with half a brain cell can find an address on one of us. Personally if I sell a gun I purchased from an ffl, I will ask for a bill of sale, just my preference. If it's one I've traded for, or bought from someone I know, going to someone I know; I'll just record any info I feel pertanent in my file. Date, buyer's name, location of sale, email and handle as well as name. Heck, I traded one glock for another this weekend with no bos, traded one earlier in the week with bill of sale forms at the request of one of our members, and then sold a Keltec P32 to a young Tennessean who thought we had to go thru an FFL dealer til I explained it to him. Then bought another G19 today without anything from a member here. It's all good. Just depends on the person/persons involved and how they look and act to me.

Got there about 11:00, walked around with a couple of trade guns. Saw some of the highest prices I've seen to date on new and used. Typical of the Goodman shows of old; small show, few vendors you haven't seen too many times before, and the professional floor walker selling and trading from behind some of his buddies' table. All in all, I wasn't impressed. But it wasn't a total loss. Got some 7.62x39 in a trade, and traded my G23 for a G21. Still not sure who got the best of that one.

Yeah, like this one.

My wife and I both qualify medically for the tags. I will use them on a rough day, but mostly try to leave the spaces for someone else. But as Caster says, it does help with the thoughts of going to the fairgrounds shows.

I know. Sorry, just my attempt at some humor. Figured we'd need some around here.

Aw com'on. A good pink Snowball now and then is good for you. And even the chocolate ones are great. Just look at me...they are good for you. On second thought, scratch the look at me part and just take my word for it.

Won a compound bow at a Friends of NRA Benefit about 15 years ago. Don't hunt, so I tried to sell it. Finally ended up giving it away several years later.

I got my first AARP letter at 49, they haven't stopped sending since then. I just don't see giving them my money.

Look at what Tim Calhoun gunsmithing did to my M & P!
hipower replied to RWF's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Yes, Please. Looks interesting. Maybe a good close r/l profile shot? And a little description? -
Crap!! Wait til you hit 60! You'll look up one morning and wonder what just happened. Seems like it was just last year I was 30. Happy Birthday! You soon-to-be-old fart!

Is the gun show operating on Friday as well, or just the auction that night?
-
And the moral of the story is that you shouldn't shoot a buddy's gun...you'll end up wanting one for yourself. That's happened to me several times.

Thank you for stating this so clearly. I was having trouble finding the right words to express my thoughts and not resort to "bigotry" in say that the denial or attempted denial of operating a business because of a statement of personal religious belief, not declining service to a segment of the population that didn't share that belief; was a bit one sided. Bigotry does go both ways.

Shelbyville Gun Show August 4th-5th... Still on??
hipower replied to SmokyBaer's topic in Events and Gatherings
There's a gunshoe in Crossville? HMMM..my wife is going on the 127 excursion. Maybe I could get dropped off. David, is it a big, fair, good show? I'm about equally split on whether to go to it or Shelbyville. Any comments on S'ville? -
I believe that is so...true.

Sweet! I like the bullpups as well.

Very Well said, Leroy. I've had pretty much the same experiences here, and I assume most of us oldtimers feel the same. Bought several guns from people here and always been treated fairly. Gotten some good prices, some I loved, and some I wasn't too happy with, but all in all, fair. Only had one instance of dealing with an out and out jackass, but he didn't last here for long. But like you, I've met some really nice people and a few I really won't lose any sleep over not meeting again, but we each have our likes and dislikes. No one ever promised we'd all get along. BTW, I got a really nice, rare Argentine Hipower clone with only a little rust on it. Only want 900... any takers?

Thanks for the reminder. I'll stop in for lunch. Not that I don't pretty frequently anyway.

Personal opinion here, but how about giving some thought to a laser device of some sort? In the same price trange you're talking about. I know it's not for everyone, but for me...I like it. I have a CT unit on my LCP and love it. Instant activation when you draw or pull the gun. Not really necessary I know, but for nightime use, I favor it. Spent about 20 minutes on the range zeroing at 20 feet and it's held for over a year. I try to shoot 10-12 rounds every time I go to the range just to keep check with it and keep used to the trigger. Not for everybody...but I like it.
