  1. Is it really worth all the time and expense to do this? I mean, I like the odd and unusual firearm as much as anyone else here, but is it worth the hassle you coud potentially recieve from any irate mall ninja, armchair commando, or just plain-looking-to-cause-you trouble LEO that might see you every time you take this weapon out in public? Not trying to be a smartass here, but you've gotten some very good advice from some very knowdgeable members here. Check their reps and you'll find they just may be worth listening to. I'd love to do this to a Calico 9mm I have, but the way BATFE interprets their own rules (meaning however they damn well please depending on the time of day, week, or year), I'm not willing to risk my HCP, my guns, what little money I have, the cost of legal expenses, and the general aggravation of dealing with the legal system. I just won't risk it. JMO
  2. Why suprised? You brought it up.
  3. :hat:To all our Troops and Support Personnel: Merry Christmas and God Bless You All. Thank You.
  4. YIKES!! Just checked Ruger site. 525 suggested retail? Steel's right! I'd go get a SW617 instead. In fact, I've been eyeing one at Guns For America for a couple of weeks, and it's only about 100 bucks higher. But still, we all like our .22 toys, so it's just a matter of which one we like more. And as Eric88 said, the price should go down from that once they hit the street. Amendment; perhaps I'm off onthe 617 pricing. Just looked for a couple and was shocked at the online prices. Maybe the LCR isn't quite so bad. But...still would prefer the 617.
  5. To quote Dalton in Road House..."Opinions vary"
  6. Could make a fun little toy. Might take a look at one when they hit the market. But really iffy as to buying one. Would really have to be impressive.
  7. No, it was not a dumb question. It is a question that many, many people ask as they get into firearms ownership for the first time. If you don't know something...ask. We all have to start somewhere.
  8. I must admit...I did chuckle at that.
  9. Two mags, at a minimum, should be the norm for selling a weapon of any caliber. But...that doesn't seem to be the case these days with a lot of manufacturers. I don't like it either, but seems we have to put up with it for the time being. Hopefully the dealers I've commented to can relay to sales reps and mfgs how we all feel about this. I've sent emails to a couple companies about it recently, but haven't recieved any feedback. But on the orginal topic, I traded into a Sig 1911-22 and have been quite pleased with it. Good weight and feel. Pretty accurate, at least as much as I can be, and no feed issues as yet. I had a couple of bricks of 20+ year old Winchester Super-X and have run several boxes so far. The Sig seems to like them. I'll try some newer and different brands in the next range session.

  11. That's why there are stationary shooting stations and indoor ranges...for the old, outashape, fat guys with bad knees who couldn't outrun a zombie.
  12. Sorry...I could't resist...

  14. Because if you have to prove who you are, you might have to prove citizenship, maybe not get to vote more than once, or heaven forbid, not be able to vote for the dead.
  15. Dang! This thread has more lives than the Kentucky Conan. If this keeps up, we'll have to bring him back!
  16. Lumber_Jack makes a very good point here. Trigger pull, as well as felt recoil, is somewhat a subjective quantity from person to person. I have owned the Keltec in .32 and the LCP in .380. From my perception, the trigger pull is better on the LCP, and the recoil effect seems somewhat lighter. I don't have any experience with the Taurus .380 though. I really prefer the .32 caliber to the .380, especially using hadball rather than hollowpoint ammo. I seems to have better penetration than the .32. This was from my own testing using old phone books at 10 to 20 feet. But for the guns in question, I'd prefer the Ruger LCP, just because it holds and shoots a little better for me. And yes it's a .380. But it's been with me for about a year now and am well pleased with it. I usually try to put 10 or so rounds thru it each time I go to the range, just to keep familiar with it. i do sorta like the Sig 238, but price and size kind of knock it out for me. But continue your research, hold each as much as you can, and if possible, try to shoot both before buying. But when all is done, just go with whatever feels right for you. If it don't feel good...you won't carry it. Then it's just an expensive paperweight. Good luck and good shooting.
  17. Even though I'm not an HK fan, I must say that the package looks pretty good together. Glad you're clothed now. It sure must have been uncomfortable the last few days.
  18. You are absloutely right. A perfect fit for the situation.
  19. Amen, brother. I'm sick of both of 'em.
  20. Congrats. Someday for me...
  21. KOOOOOLLLL!
  22. Nice gun, I wish it were in my safe though.
  23. Wonder what the interest rate is? Or should I say vig?
  24. Really like my 1911 guns...Colt, Springfield, Kimber and Taurus(yes, Taurus), but fond of the G30 for carry these days.
  25. Thanks, David. I may try to run up if I get all the chores done tonight.
