  1. I was in the military for 10 years. not sure what that has to do with the plastics feeling cheap. fit and finish is marginal, stuff is loose, sights are crude and difficult to adjust properly on the models ive dealt with, they start jamming pretty quickly with a few hundred rounds through them.   others may have different experiences. but im still not sure what the military has to do with cheap feeling plastic parts...
  2. used to get a bunch whe ni was volunteering as a range safety for the county range. anymore, they are questioning people picking up their own brass let alone others. they don't have rules against it but some of their safetys can be sticklers trying to get brass for themselves I guess. I also noticed the range started selling bagged range brass...
  3. i really like the idea of their actions. it hink the buffer tube is the part I don't like about standard AR15s but I just don't feel comfortable with the plastic/cheap feel. if I ran across one for a decent price I might play with the PLR but I wasn't impressed with the su16B.
  4. i have had several KT weapons, SU16-B, Sub2000, and a P3AT. all of them were ok. they shot decent when at the range as long as they were kept decently clean but felt super cheap. for the prices they seem to be going for when i see them, there are better options for the money. just my opinion though.
  5. the only thing I ever had an issue with was driving out the pins from the gas block when installing a new barrel nut. most of that was not properly supporting it to get a good hit on the punches.
  6. I personally like my Mossberg 535 12ga with a 20" turkey barrel a lot. its short and light. ive run some 3.5" 2600fps steel duck loads through it as well as 3" turkey loads all the way down to skeet/bird loads. no surprise as its a pump gun but it has never went bag when it needed to and is light and handy. ive shot skeet with it as well and do pretty good against others with much more expensive guns. its always more the shooter than the gun.
  7. its a quality nylon belt. thewilderness.com iirc.
  8. I just went through some meats I canned a couple years ago. opened one that looked good and it was fine. couple look sketchy so im dumping those.   I need to get a bigger canner as I got an older one that will do pints only. works so far for me.   I also freeze maybe 90 days worth of stuff in food saver vacuum bags and dehydrate stuff as well. keep dehydrated vegetables and such in my quart jars since I cant can with them yet :) throw in an oxygen absorber and run them through the vacuum sealer adapter as well. works so far.
  9. wow. I would say if its in good shape with no slop in the action, it would make a good shooter. I was given one by an in-law that was locked up with rust. cleaned it up and replaced a spring internally. it left some minor pitting on the cylinder and near the muzzle but it shoots like a champ. I would be ok with it around $350-400 with a decent cerakote job. most get into cerakoting because its a great finish. have a smith look it over if you aren't familiar with old revolvers and have at it if you are comfortable with the price.
  10. i built my first lower with a nail set and a pair of channel lock pliers.   since then, I have gotten an AR15 armorers wrench and it gives cleaner results. will evenetually get a set of receiver blocks for a vise as well. not many special tools needed really.
  11. didnt realize they had a stocking dealer in the area. I always order mine direct
  12. number one seems to be pretty lucky. horrible timing but to survive the only two ever used...
  13. need to hit up our local farmers market. haven't been there yet.
  14. i use a dawson ice on my gen 3. they might offer a gen 4 version by now.
  15. they do lease some land. I went last weekend to a leased field in Robertson county with Whiskey. they only leased it for the first two weeks.
  16. im down for the moon war as long as it happens before im too old
  17. went to Haynes bottom here in Montgomery county yesterday. saw a few birds and one other hunter who claimed its usually pretty slow.
  18. I started to pressure can some meats. 1lb in a pint jar. this allows me to have some shelf stable meats cheaper than store bought and I don't have to worry about the freezer when the power goes out.   that said, I do still have a bit in the freezer. long term power outage would necessitate using what I need from the freezer while I have the generator keeping it cold for a few days and canning whats left over those days on the propane burner.
  19. will be driving my mustang GT like will smith in his Ferrari in Bad Boys 2. :)   in reality, I will probably stay put. have the choice of a mustang or a chevy trailblazer right now. could always go on horseback as well.
  20. keep buying until you have a closet somewhere in the house that looks like the pics :)
  21. not sure such a public place exists anymore. would be interested to know myself...
  22. i like the specs on the liberty mystic can. its rated for full auto 7.62x39 or supersonic blackout. has fixed 5/8 threads, 1/2" fixed threads and a 1/2" booster for 9mm pistols. its fully take apart and ok'd for lead bullets and the like. can do subsonic .308 as well as .22lr. its ususally not very expensive, $700 iirc.    Liberty customer service has been great. I don't have their can yet but have asked a half dozen questions. they always call me as they say email is too impersonal. usually ends up a 20-30 minute conversation about a lot of stuff. Great guys so far.   I am looking at their Freedom or Victory Magnum series for my 30-06 build in progress as well as the mystic.
