1. Congrats to the both of you, what is the spread on that deer Shaun?
2. Yesterday I took my Savage Mod.170 .35 Rem., First time its gone this year.  Well a little before 8 this small 4 point (little scrub) comes troting across the field. Before I can get the gun on him he is in a small thicket, through it and in two the second field. Still moving along pretty good while as I'm raising the rifle, I holler HEY, he pauses for a moment. Alright gun is up and pointing, he is still troting away so I holler HEY. He stops and throws his head up and looks around. Gives me just enough time to draw a bead and squeeze off a shot ........................................................................ bang flop hits the ground drags himself maybe ten yds. Thats it, those 200gr Rem cor locs do a number. Don't have a pic, but there is a picture of said rifle in the .35 Rem thread. Since Sun, I have taken three deer with three different rifles.
3. Nice deer Greg, and a really nice looking ole rifle. Congrats to ya!
4. I hunt both, most of the bucks that I've shot were in the morning, most not all. This year all the bucks that I have seen were in the morning. Of course the nicest one I saw was the weekend of the juvenile hunt, that Sat morn saw two bucks one really nice one, haven't seen him since. But I've taken two does this year and both have been in the afternoon.   Had a chance at a doe this morning at handgun range but it was about the time I needed to leave to go home and start the grill for some Thanksgiving backstrap. So I let it walk til another day.
5. I will say one thing that Hornady 265gr FTX did one heck of a number on this little doe. I hit her at the top of the back and there is a spot larger than a softball missing. I forgot my handgun when I left out this afternoon, and this shot as I was high on the back was not a killing shot. Had to finish her off with this cannon, shot her in the head, not a pretty site. But she never moved another muscle.
6. IIRC, they also have the TGO Logo on them.
7. Sweet! Keep us posted on the updates.
8. I've some more pics. of this gun in my thread in long guns.(New t444ss) if you care to gander. This thing is fast becoming my favorite long gun.
9. I took my new Marlin 444 out for a little stroll today. It got its first blood. This little doe crossed the field at 133 yards, and I introduced her to the hot rod 444.
10. Here's a few more pictures for you to enjoy!
11. Its a 1987 Marlin 444ss with 21" Micro groove barrel. Never shot or handled one til I got it yesterday, its a hoot. Now, I think I want one of ported models. dang Marlinits has set in. lol
12. Here it is a Marlin 444ss. This thing is AWESOME, I don't think I've stopped grinning since I shot it yesterday. Took it to the woods today and if I had been a little quicker I might have been able to have drawn first blood with it. Had a doe sneak by. It came with a scope but they took it off to be easier to ship and I haven't put it back on yet, gona let it go bare back for a while, might go with a peep. Anyway here is a pics for you.
13. Here you go 1981 model 170 Savage with 3x9 Bushnell Sportview. Never thought much about a pump action rifle til I got this one. Pretty handy and quick.
14. Cool story and a great experience for the both of of you.Congrats to you.
15. No scope on mine either. But I would say a 4x32 of some kind should be find.
16. Your right Greg that was a minimum of not a restriction, my bad. sorry
17. I could only find a restriction on caliber, nothing on barrel length. I was thinking that at one time there was but I couldn't find any. Somebody smarter and wiser will be along shortly. Now I"m curious also.
18. Well I guess we will see. Bet your right MM.
19. Yes, I've got a Puma with a 24" octagon barrel, that I have taken deer with, got one with it year before last right in the 100 yd. range. Shot right in the neck and he was down right there. It was the first time I had hunted with it and I was tickled, to say the lest. Was also one of my own handloads, what a feeling.
20. Well after not tagging any deer in archery or ML seasons, finally scored this afternoon. Like to froze this morning, and gave up about 8:00. Went and done a little scouting around noon, found a fresh scrap and a couple rubs. Stopped and talked my neighbor/ hunting bud, he said he had been seeing deer around the hunting house. I told him I was going to hunt it this afternoon.  Fast forward to 3:00, drove over to within a 150 yds. and walked to the HH, sat down for a minute opened one window. Thought to myself better get the phone out, getting all situated, realized i had forgot the binos, dang. Well got the rangefinder out started looking around, ranging a few things to see what is what, ok I"m ready. Now I"ve been here all of ten minutes, and here comes this little doe, 285 yds. then another, both pretty small. So I"m thinking this is the yearlings that the neighbor has been watching the past month. Then here comes two more, and then two more, six all together. I watch 'em for like fifteen minutes or so, been waiting on some jerky meat for a month now. A couple of the young ones are playing around and start to wandering off, so I range one of the other does, 220 yds. Heck thats about as close as they are going to get so I reach for the 06, its a '03 Remington action thats was customize some time ago, nothing nice mind you it has seen alot of use before I got it apparently, but accurate. Ok, ok enough, standing broadside, set the sight right behind front shoulder. Bang! they all run off, wait some ten mins or so, walk to the truck and drive down to where they were. No blood, thinking I know I didn't miss, went to where I saw them enter the woods and bingo blood. Tracked in to the woods about another 50yds. there it is a nice little doe.   Pretty good from the time I sat down til the time of recovery approximatly 30 mins. I"ve only got one photo from the cell, and I"m not smart enough to get it off the phone to the computer, so will just have to take my word for it this time. lol   Good luck to the rest of ya'll.
21. I've got a Savage model 170 pump action, its got a 21" barrel on it. Whats the lenght of the Remington? I took a decent buck with mine year before last at about 180 yds. give or take a couple. I think he took a few steps and that was it. Some time one of these days I"d like to get a Marlin, just because I like lever actions. But the Savage isn't going anywhere.
22. I've got one of these, mine is a Savage pump action model 170. It is a killing machine for sure, have taken two deer with it and the farest one has gone was about 15 to 20 yds. Maybe not bang, flop dead, but there difinetly wasn't any tracking involved.
23. Just got back saw nothing, dang cold though. A friend of mine over in Hardin Co. shot a five point this morning, and the darn thing is still in velvet. I would have thought that they would have already rubbed that all off by now. I would post a picture but I don't know how to get it from the phone to the computer.
