Threeeighty mentioned dropcam. My wife has recently wanted one of these to monitor the kid's room. Anyone have experience with these? My first thought was a few of them scattered outside, but it's immediately clear that for the money you are quickly over the breakpoint into a dedicated system. Thoughts on where the breakpoint may be? +2 cams, +3 cams?

tyguy replied to gjohnsoniv's topic in General Chat
I don't no for fact, but I heard TAC (formerly Coal Creek Armory) may be laser etching. Maybe worth a call. -
Have we all really lost our mind? "Elementary school outlaws playing tag"

Won't be long before it's stopped up.

Preach on dolomite. That's what I was thinking. My sub $300 savage accutriger made a buddy sell his high dollar 10-22 to buy a cz. The cz 452 edges the savage but not by a lot. Both of them like aguila match....of which I scored a brick of that happened to arrive from Midway this afternoon. I really like my cheap Savage bolt rifle. Hard to find more plinking fun out to 100 yards.

Unfortunately that 500k was collected at their customer's expence. Going to a good cause, but I'm not impressed.

I found 9 and .40 on shelves yesterday. 1st boxes of 9mm I've actually picked up from a shelf since January. Price was slightly high, but not bad. -
What happens, medical condition with a CCW

My Grandfather had the ER scenario several times, related to heart attacks. In at least 2 cases a hospital employee handed my grandmother a bag of personal effects....everything in his pockets, including whatever pistol he had on him that day. Always still loaded (revolvers). Probably depends on each hospital protocol. Thieves can be found anywhere. I often wonder if wallets are relieved of their cash in some instances. -
Thanks mcordell! Order processing.

I havent tried it personally yet, but my next tactic is to pick up a bad of dry ice pellets from Kroger. Dump them in any opening you can find. As it sublimates the it is heavier than air so it pushes it, along with the oxygen, out of the track system. Same idea as using it in food prep containers with the lid slightly ajar. I read about this method on a website of a local supplier of industrial dry ice. Most other logical solutions deal with ridding your yard of grubs that they feed on. With a couple of dogs and a kiddie running around my backyard, no toxins for me. I would be curious to hear if anyone has tried the dry ice trick.

We use a late model 3d printer where I work for rapid prototyping. One of the first test pieces off of it was the famous cresent wrench...and it does work. Basically anything u can model up in solidworks can be printed. This is the second generation that we've used, with the next step to be a metal sintering type. The printed plastic is cheap and fast for prototyping parts, but we also print small, wearable pieces for jigs and fixtures. As far as outcry for misuse.....there's probably more fear to be had from the chemicals under your kitchen sink.

Our family has 2 rescues. A 55lb mutt my sister in law found running through traffic on Merchants Dr and a Shepherd, as seen in my avatar. The shepherd came from a local breed specific rescue. She weighed 50lbs when we adopted her. After some love (and lots of food!) she grew into her natural 85lb frame. Both of our dogs are approaching 12 yrs old and are slowing down, but we're all better off for finding each other. After we were settled into our comfy life of 4 (2 dogs + 2 people) we were surprised to be pregnant. From the first night we brought our daughter home from the hospital, the shepherd sleeps outside her door. I find that nearly as comforting as I lay down for bed as having my firearm nearby. Dogs love unconditionally, but rescues seem to understand they've gotten a second chance.

A little off topic, but I recently flew for work. Kershaw and other forbidden items (including liquids) were safely stowed in checked luggage. At the counter the lady wanted to charge me for first checked bag. As I started to bitch about it she said it would qualify as carry on. At the prospect of saving 25 bucks I carried on. Made it through security and boarded. About halfway through the flight I realized I had access to my knife, razor, scissors, etc. Didn't mention it and checked my bag on the flight back but lost any feeling of security having accidentally circumvented this crack security measure. TSA is a typical government operation......overpriced, over-intrusive, and absolutely inept. Shame on me for being dumb enough to make the mistake. Ridiculous that I have to take my shoes and belt off to board a plane but can slip through with contraband as dictated by the man!

Trying to show my mother how to shoot, any pointers?
tyguy replied to gjohnsoniv's topic in Women's Perspectives
This may be considered a silly point, but when helping someone not familiar with handhuns I always load only one round (especially autos). I explain this up front and it's a lot less stressful after the initial shot. Probably should have prefaced with the golden rules, including always treat the weapon as if it were loaded. I took some Japanese coworkers shooting. One guy had especially weak wrists. The first round of .45 darn near caused him a facial wound. I've also had both men and women try to turn around after the first shot. Sometimes just to grin and say awesome, forgetting the rule about pointing downrange. If your mom is squeemish about it you might consider. 22 to start with. Even if it means borrowed or rented. Some really experienced and smart folks will be along shortly to share a wealth of knowlege and ideas. Good luck and have fun! -
Mine's Tuesday. Where does the line form for presents? I would certainly be classified as a lurker. Low post count but very high view rate. I certainly dont mind posting, but generally I dont have much additional knowlege to add to a topic. Many times my thoughts or questions are already in play. I am an avid gun and shooting enthusiest, but still learning daily. I understand the feelings of participating in this online community, but often feel like lurkers are chastised a bit for not posting. None the less ill continue to lurk and post as I feel appropriate.

If you are willing to drive a bit I would highly recommend the childrens discovery museum in chattanooga. We take our daughter a few times a year. We drive from knoxville and make a day of it, along with the aquarium. The latter is quite pricey but the museum isnt bad. The other option, if the weather is decent, is almost any park. I've found that my 3 year old could care less about reviews or admission.... as long as she can run and play with her family. Good luck and have fun!

Keeping with the Ford theme...1964 Galaxie 500. Thunderbird 390 + Cruise-a-matic. Super nice, original car. Red on red. Sure would like to have it back!

he he he. As soon as I saw the title I knew it would explode. I'd be in for 1 or 2. I didn't monitor the last order thread close enough and missed out on the last round.

Long haul from Knoxville, but Benton Shooter's Supply has a display unit in their case (NOT FOR SALE). Looks like it's been handled a lot. The Salesman said they hope to have one/some before the end of the year. I was starting to wonder about this "mythical creature" as well. p.s. ~ They have the price listed well under MSRP.

They are drawing for a 5" XD this weekend.
