  1. I agree it can really drag down a video to spend 5 mins explaining how you're gun is empty. It shouldn't take more than 5 secs, and then move on. But I think it's good to at least show an empty mag and chamber
  2. I would try to replicate it with the ammo used that day, and then again with store bought Winchester, Federal, etc. if you can narrow it down to the ammo, you've solved the problem. If the ammo isn't loaded to the right specs, it may be short cycling, not allowing the shell enough time to clear the slide.
  3. your assuming a lot here. The gun would have to have been bought new in SC by the grandfather. they have no way of knowing at what point it was sold across state lines. maybe he bought it in SC and then moved to TN. I would just take the gun and go home and be quite.
  4. if I had the time, I would get face-to-face lessons. I have had them before and if you have a good instructor, they are invaluable. I know that doesn't answer your question, but its the best advice I've got
  5. Hopefully he wasn't overwhelmed with the response to this thread. I was surprised at so many saying they'd come. I would bet its still on though.
  6. linky no worky Edit: now thats weird, the link doesnt work in your original post. but it works when I quoted you. firgure that one out
  7. Yeah I wouldn't single out Armslist, it happens everywhere. And on stes like that I always price my items over because no one like to say "I'll take it" but rather "will you take $xxx". I run into that here some too, but not as much. if its priced right here, it will sell eventually.
  8. Ok here is the deal Its Roane County Sherriffs Office in Kingston offers free Carry permit classes Contact: Beth 865-717-4748 Requuired Items: Gun - minimum 6 shot eye/ear protection holster 50 rds ammo sack lunch Classes are held on Saturdays from 7am-3:30pm. Space is limited and there may be a wait list, but if you're not in a hurry this is a good option. This is an outdoor range so you might want to ask about the "rain policy" when signing up.
  9. My apologies, correction, Roane County Sheriffs Office offers a free class. Miscommunication on my end. I'll post more info later when I have specifics.
  10. It's funny how Paul supporters think that by voting their conscience their inciting change when in reality you're ensuring the opposite. If Paul had a snowballs chance o even coming close to winning, I'd vote for him. But that's not reality And I don't consider it compromising my beliefs it's prioritizing them. 1) I believe Obama is the worst thing for this country 2) I believe Paul is not electable That leaves me with only one option
  11. I get your point and don't disagree on motives. My point is this isn't about voting strategy. If this were a nationwide discussion being held by millions if people, I'd agree with you. But it's not, it's being held by a vast minority, just enough to get O reelected. And regardless of whether it not you like either Dem or Rep, a vote for Paul is a vote for O. I just don't see the logic. It may help you sleep better at night, but in the end what has it changed?
  12. He has way more confidence in the body armor than I would. I mean, what if you got a passthrough? You have a gut wound, and for what purpose.
  13. Everyone is assuming that if O gets reelected that the country will spin out of control and the coveted Revolution will ensue. I think quite the opposite. The populous will become more complacent as out rights are stripped away little by little and this country will be changed forever, for the worse. Vote how you want, but don't preach to me about voting for warmongers and so on. you can't change the system over night. So why not take a step for getting the SCOTUS conservative then champion your candidate. It won't be long before Rand takes Ron's place in the election campaigns.
  14. ABO for this guy. I know some here want a revolution, but those are violent and deadly and not as glamorous as Hollywood might portray. I say one step at a time. Get Obama out, then work to get the next joker out.
  15. Yes, but like all Walmart's, some carry some don't. They are cheapest at Walmart but academy, bass pro, sportsmans warehouse, all carry them
  16. So I bought a self healing box target at Walmart today. Went an shot 100 rounds of .45 at it. Now I was doing quick draw drills so admittedly not all hit the target, but it was fun. It gives immediate hit response as well as moving follow-up shots. For $25 I think it's worth it. Supposed to last for 1000+ rds. Kind of neat also is the bullets slowed to a stop, and dropped almost undeformed.
  17. I have a PT1L, I carry and use it a lot. I can see where you are coming from on the feel. But I have used mine extensively and it hasn't failed yet. I've had it well over a year. If I were you I'd just use it till failure just to see how it lasts. Then buy your surefire.
  18. $22.97 is what the shelf tag says Federal is selling a 100rd pack for $19.97
  19. Walmart in Rockwood has 6 different ARs Sig M400 Hunter - $917 Windham Weaponry - $799 Colt LE6920 - $1097 flattop with carry handle rear sight Bushmaster Patrol - $897 S&W 15-22 $427 Sig 522 $497
  20. I bet you'll be in luck on the M&P. I saw one in gray, Tn, and that show sucked!! Haha
  21. They offer free classes at Roan State CC. I wouldn't get in the middle of their pissing match
  22. Ditto Most problems are solved with good mags. I'd buy a Sig brand
  23. Nice, What made you choose 9mm? Did you consider .40? I am wanting to build one just like this. Range toy and home defense. Obviously 9mm is better for range, .40 maybe better for defense (although that's argued to death) but with 30rds I'm not sure you can go wrong with 9mm
  24. What lower are you using?
  25. Anything under 16" has to be either registered SBR( short barrel rifle) or a pistol.
