  1. I'm 2+ hours away, but I'm going to try to make it. I though about taking one of my custom leather holsters or an ammo can to have signed. :D
  2. I hate dealing with my local UPS store. They tend to have a "holier than thou" attitude & have extra fees for shipping from the store. I usually ship my parts by USPS Priority mail. It costs less, comes insured w/tracking, is faster, & they don't hastle you over what's in the box. If you want to use UPS you have the option of printing up a shipping label & dropping it off with a delivery driver, which I have done in the past. It's usually cheaper & most drivers are friendlier to deal with. Like another member said, you can also tell them it's tools or machine parts. I don't like the idea of telling lies, but IMO it's none of their business anyway as long as you're not shipping something illegal.
  3. Personally, I love the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, but I live in the Big South Fork National River & Recreational Area on the Scott County side. (Say that three times fast) If you're looking to get away from it all, including crowds & tourist traps, it's a dream. Hiking, camping, canoeing, horse back riding, overlooks, natural bridges, caves, & lots of peaceful scenery. There ar places you can actually go to & not see another person for days. There's not much shopping nearby (unless you really like Walmart) & the nearest large town is Oak Ridge, which is just over an hour away & Knoxville is another 15-20 minutes. Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg are about 2 hours away. The BSF National Park is a little secluded, but it's is a beautiful place to find peace & quiet.   Be sure to check the link... http://bigsouthforkpark.com/ ...by the way. I live about five minutes from the welcome sign at the home page of their site. It's a beautiful area.
  4.   I guess if you're ashamed of your history you can simply rewrite it.
  5. If you had a Swastika on a scale model airplane you might scare all the Liberals..umm, I mean the little children & we can't have that....
  6. I've looked, but haven't found a definitive answer to my question. Is it legal to carry into American Legion & VFW buildings in TN? I'm a volunteer leader for a Boy Scout troop & we try to have at least one adult leader CC at most Scout events & always on hikes & overnight trips. We occasionally have to use the American Legion building for meetings & our troop participates in flag ceremonies at the VFW. I haven't seen any signs at either place & have been told it's fine since they're considered private organizations, but I'd like to make sure we're legal so any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7.   +1. I really do enjoy going to shows, browsing & meeting people (well, most of them anyway ), but my biggest problem is my location. The closest show (Expo) is about 150 miles round trip for me so figure in the cost of gas & then add an entree fee & lunch, it becomes an expensive day & burns up a lot of my spending money. It doesn't help that assholes keep sneaking in loaded firearms & ruining it for the rest of us. One was a vendor that shot himself in the hand with his Kimber .45 & less than a year later a customer shot a hole the wall with a .22 rifle that was for sale. Unless I have another reason to be in Knoxville I've probably attended my last gun show. About 99% of my gun related items, & even a lot of my guns come from online sellers.
  8. My vote goes 100% to the Ruger. There are only a few small differences between the 9e & the SR9 & none effect how the gun functions. With the 9e, Ruger did away with the loaded chambr indidcator that many disliked, it has less machine work on the slide to lower production cost, has a black oxide coating instead of nitride, & only includes one mag. The frame & internal workings of the pistol haven't changed at all from the SR9. I have several thousand rounds through my Gen. 2 SR9 without a single failure of any kind so reliability isn't a question IMHO. I also like the ergonomics & adjustable backstrap of the Ruger.
  9.   Found this story about Mom's Demand Action on another site. "Moms Demand Leader Deemed A Threat To Her Kids, Barred From Owning Guns" ...dumbassery surounds this woman ... http://bearingarms.com/moms-demand-leader-deemed-threat-kids-barred-owning-guns/
  10.   Thanks. Those are the twins. The Cougars have a slimmer grip & IMHO better ergonomics than the 92/96 models so they get most of the range time, but I can't let go of my Elites... unless an opportunity to get an Elite II surfaces. An Elite II is at the top of my "bucket gun" list.  :x:
  11. IMHO Berettas are just beautifully built handguns. If you buy one, odds are it won't be your last. I'll definetely buy a TN built model, but Cougars have always been my favorite to shoot. If you ever have the chance to try out a Beretta Cougar you'll fall in love. 8040 D Cougar (No safety or decocker...just point & shoot) 92G & 96G Elites
  12.   I have my piggy bank & a hammer standing by...
  13. Keep these stories coming. I'm counting the days until I get my hands on a "Made in Gallatin, TN" stamped Beretta. :usa:
  14. A universal shoulder holster with belt attachment. It's made from padded nylon & will fit most full size pistols with a 4" barrel. It's not a fancy holster, but maybe someone can make use of it.
  15. I want to thank SouthernLion for the boresnake. Great item.
  16.   What's the law on that? I thought as long as it was inside your vehicle (not carrying of course) & out of sight it was legal to have firearms/ammo on school property.
  17.   While some emploees are going to be jerks no matter where they're working IMHO I think one of Walmarts main problems is the way corp. chooses to run their stores. They keep expanding & building more stores, but don't know how to run them anymore. Then they do those stupid store remodels every few years now which wastes millions of dollars. Stock isn't splitting or going up in value (it used to split every few years), sales are down, so they try to make up for it by buying/selling cheaper imported garbage & cutting back the number of employees along with their hours. This leads to bad customer service, overworked employees, & more stress. This leads to less sales & customers going elsewhere to buy. I've watched our local store go downhill over the last 15 years. It's open 24 hours & I've seen many nights when there were literally six or less employees (including managers & stockers) running the entire store at night when there used to be 40-50. It wasn't that way when Sam was here & products were made in America.
  18. Here are some of the upcoming events at Bud's in Sevierville.....   Sept. 20th : "Hickok45" will be there 12pm-3pm Sept. 30th-Oct 1st: ATK Days Oct. 3rd-4th: Benchmade Laser Engraving Oct. 16th-18th: Beretta Days
  19. +1. You could also use some non refective duct tape (I wouldn't use black though...too much contrast) or even a flat paint if needed. That refelective tape will get a deers attention quick & could ruin a good shot.
  20.   Not BS at all. My wife has worked in management & customer service at Walmart for almost 16 years. (This will be her last year, though. She's graduating college this coming May & will moving on to something better  ) I've seen the safety videos myself. Like I stated earlier, most stores don't enforce it, but it's left up to the store manager to make the final decision. Next time you might want to try to learn a few facts before accusing me of lying!
  21. I don't see any problem with open carry, but some people might. I don't go to great measures to conceal. I usualy just have a loose shirt over mine. Walmart as a whole does have a "concealed only" policy, but most stores don't bother enforcing it. Some Walmart store managers will ask people to keep it covered, but most don't since you are perfectly within your legal rights. I say carry how you're most comfortable, but like wileecoyote said, some people might feel the need to give an opinion about it.
  22. Bud's TN website.... http://www.budsgunshoptn.com/retail-store/   Looks like a nice store. Range time looks a little pricey, but I'm definetely interested in some of their additional training courses they'll be offering. You can never have too much training.
  23.   +1. Franchise vs parent company vs online store can get confusing at times. Even their Lexington retail store isn't called "Bud's". It's called "The Gun Warehouse". Bud's was originally only for online sales. I'm still looking forward to visiting Bud's at their Sevierville location soon.
  24.   I agree that it sucks, but this is true of most companies. Even Walmart, for example, doesn't price match or honor their own online prices. They don't even price match with other Walmart stores. I've been telling people for years that Bud's online prices sometimes differ from in store prices. Sometimes certain items like guns are often cheaper in the store (online shipping really isn't free...it's just included in the online price) & sometimes items are higher. I learned a long time ago to make a call & ask questions before driving 2-3 hours round trip for something.
