You can only carry past signs in parks, as that law change didn't require signage be removed. But that's only outdoor park areas, park buildings can still be posted with the listed consequence. And it also depends on the usage of the park while you're there.... if a school function is going on, you're not allowed to carry. And it also depends on how the local government defines a "park" as municipalities seem to varying opinions on that. The laws are clear and easy to abide by on purpose.

I love blueberries and sure wish I could grow them. I'm not sure why, but never had any luck. I've had the soil tested and did what they recommended but they just don't grow. We had some huge bushes and more blueberries than we could eat growing up.

I agree wholeheartedly... but like Dave, I don't let it prevent me from doing stuff I want to do.

Big business in America. Oh, the drama... They're doing a fine job using our money to keep all those lawyers employed.

this is it...

I keep thinking of this...

I suspect the next SEAL on the stand will have a slightly different version where he's responsible and not the other two. And so on.

Cool. My uncle built his own car from scratch while in high school in the late '50's. Later on he made friends with this guy (https://www.sprintcarhof.com/helper_pages/FileGet.aspx?id=374) and built a replica of one of his cars. I've got a picture of it somewhere....

Keep TSA's rules and your airline's terms of service handy, sometimes the employees don't know their own policies. Tell them you're checking a firearm at the desk. Don't go through security until they've come and inspected it. Know the gun laws for everywhere you'll be, including layovers. In the event of a diversion, do not take possession of your luggage in a prohibitive city or state. They'll turn right around and arrest you.

Just a touch low. Couple more clicks up on the next shot.

My point is that rural code inspectors tend to be some elected official's brother-in-law or buddy and may or may not have the first clue about anything to do with construction. Either way, the bigger builders can usually afford to grease enough palms to get by with whatever they want. So just because the state has a written code doesn't mean that anything that gets built follows it. Florida is a different animal. The insurance industry has forced them to be very strict.
-
Just because a state has adopted it, doesn't mean that there's any real enforcement, especially in rural areas.
-
No kidding. Yikes.
-
That's state wide, and probably nation wide.... builders get as much code enforcement as they can afford.

Drivers here can be annoyingly unaggressive. There's no comparison to traffic in big metro areas.

USC (United Sporting Companies) goes belly up.

I agree that distributors are a leach in the system. I wouldn't expect the OEM's to bring distribution in-house, as that would increase their overhead at a time when they're doing everything they can to reduce it. I would expect the business model to change, perhaps to consigned inventory similar to car dealers. -
Sparta and Spencer are nice places, but they're both a good ways off the beaten path so you get all the good and bad that come with that. The housing market is so busy right now that I'm not surprised you can't find a builder that's interested in working an hour from anywhere.

Win some, lose some. Gambling can be expensive. -
Look into a rain barrel. The standard blue or black barrels work fine, or you can get something prettier. I don't recommend the white barrels due to algae growth. We have one 50 gallon barrel and a 5 minute downpour will fill it up.

I didn't think about it at the time, but similar stuff happened when they built Hamilton Place mall in Chattanooga, which was built on a subdivison. I recall there being a few hold outs but I don't remember if they finally caved and sold or were forced out.

Doesn't seem like this is an eminent domain issue. The .gov wasn't taking his property for a .gov project. He got screwed by the local zoning commission because they wanted more tax revenue from a large private business. I'm sure the proper course of action would have been to spend truck loads of money suing the municipality, because that's the only way to accomplish anything in modern America. This guy chose civil disobedience instead. If you're gonna do that, do it with style. He did.

Can't say I ever heard the story behind that before. Interesting for sure.

6 cherry tomato plants? I like them too, but that's gonna be a LOT of maters. They freeze pretty well and make good sauces. We didn't plant a cherry tomato last year, but the birds planted one for us in the flower bed. We've got one plant this year. Speaking of volunteers... we've got a couple tomatoes and a vine that's either a watermelon or cantaloupe. I thought it was a zucchini so I let it grow, but now it's got 6ft runners so we'll see what it produces. And yes, you've still got plenty of time to plant most any typical summer crop and get a good yeild.

Our garden is doing pretty well except for the okra, which I assume the rabbits are eating. We've had at least 2 clutches of rabbits in the yard. Heres the first harvest, taken just a Little's while ago....
