    Savage ARs

Savage accuracy, AR10... if the price gets down in the mid teens, that will be a great "entry" Precision AR10. I wouldn't, however, trust any trigger from BLACKHAWK! .... I still laugh out loud every time I see that company trademark name in all caps with the exclamation point. It's the epitome of over-acting in a corporate name.
  2. Hey, - so sorry. Those pictures feel like great memories to me, and I wasn't even there.

    Favorite Gun Oil

-Hoppes for lead remover and foaming bore cleaner. -CLP for when I need something "cheap" ... or just need a solid oil to "get it done" -SLIP2000 for what matters (heavyweight for slides... or SLIP grease) -I use the pull through bore snake a ton... I clean when it's needed. - which is not all the time. M Pro7 or whatever it is was fine as well. I'm sure most of them work just fine; I'm partial to SLIP.
  4. I don't know anyone local. If you are willing to do it long distance, check out Patriot Valley Arms. For the price (or really any price), I don't think many folks are putting together rifles like he is these days... he is a hidden gem. Between action and barrel, he will be an absolutely unfair advantage.
  5. To sum it up: Everything you know and love about S&W will most likely be MORE secure as we walk into the future because the corporate umbrella carries a name that reflects the diversity of its holdings.

    5.56 or .308

If you have a salt-shaker, put it with whatever I say, and you'll probably be ok. Even though the general premise has been discussed ad-naseum, it is always a great question to ask - applying your specific details to it. If you let us know what kind of property you might be defending yourself in/on, we can probably help you think through it. It boils down to what you want and what your defensive scenario looks like. Both calibers carry a lot of energy for small spaces, but it is that energy that can stop a violent attacker and save your life. With that said, .308 carries an immense amount of energy. A 5.56 with a 50gr TSX bullet... or similar recommendations by Doc GKR on the "other site" will do well in a close defensive situation. A 5.56, AR variant will (generally) be a lighter weight rifle to bring into action and will allow for faster follow-up shots. ... generally. If it were purely an indoors defensive situation and you were starting from scratch: I would say, use a Tavor 16" with a suppressor and a RDS (Aimpoint Pro or something lighter). If you shoot a 5.56 in a hallway without anything on your ears, you WILL have massive hearing damage. -- probably still will with a suppressor, but it should help some. I would pair this rifle with the Black Hills 50gr TSX round - or 55gr (not barrier blind). Oh yeah... I'm know that you know this, but it bears repeating in the discussion... light, light, light. ... use a light. Know your target... and what is behind it.

... but the sky IS falling! For what it's worth, we had pretty major issues when Apple dropped Firewire as well. - a refresh of computers meant an (otherwise un-necessary) hardware refresh for some clients... as the use of the Firewire Dongle came with intermittent connection dropouts.

Haha! I'm glad you're thrilled with it. You keep being happy, and I'll keep my valid gripes for now. I never said it was proprietary... "universal port crap", I believe. We all have our different applications and tolerances. It may all work out well in the end, but until then, I will not run a $200/ticket x 50,000 seat venue Live show on one. Period. Record, Edit, Scrapbook, Spreadsheet or graphic design? sure. Run a live show? nope. FYI: The new Macbook Pros interfacing with external devices other than USB is not a matter of a simple cable. Each dongle you use with the new Macbook Pro that does anything other than USB - whether it is a 6" adapter or a 3m cable DOES have a chipset (with firmware) in the ends of the cable itself - converting the protocol. It's another handshake that has to happen - one more compound variable (code, chipset, and another physical connector) that could cause trouble,... and it is infuriating. I better lay off or I'll have to change my username and tagline. You're good, CZ! I'm glad it's right for you. I hope to be as happy as you about it someday in the future.

The new USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 port... (they couldn't even name it one or the other). It is the only port type on the new macbook pros. Want ethernet? Dongle. Want USB? Dongle. Want Thunderbolt? Dongle. Want HDMI? Dongle. Each one of those connectors, I can access without an adapter on my current macbook pro. - Also, there are only (4) of these ports on the thing, so if you are using one for the power adapter, then you have just 3 ports left. I guess it's not a big deal since you'd need an adapter to plug anything into any of them... so what's one more adapter to mult one out to several devices. Hahahaha! This video ^^^ rules. Oh yeah,... want Firewire? well... I know old school, but still. Dongle.

FYI: for all of the frustration I have at Apple-Corporate, the business team at the Cool Springs store is absolutely incredible. Unbeatable customer service... and nice folks to boot.

When that version of the video first came out, I laughed until I cried. -from looking at client solutions with this new universal port crap, we were already frustrated. • Then came ordering our first new Macbook Pro after one went down. The ethernet Dongle... that you have to have to hardwire into a network... yep. 7 weeks out - unless you get lucky and find it in a store (none around us had one). I went from frustrated to straight-up p**sed. That was a while ago, and like the dongles, that feeling hasn't gone away. - Apple have (british for "has") no idea what they've done here.
  12. have one, use one. It works. I always torque the mount to 3 clicks... and I push in hard as I turn.. i.e.. I torque the smelly stuff out of it.
  13. I am incredibly tempted by the Sig RDSs, but you can't go wrong with Vortex. Their warranty is better than Sig... and they have "been around longer" than Sig's optics division. With that said, if this is not a duty rifle, Sig's line of RDS... ala primary arms/holosight are incredible. Their 65moa circle dot - just like etch is incredible and I do not see a fuzzy star instead of a dot with that reticle (astigmatism). Disclosure: I run an Aimpoint Pro on mine. Good luck!
  14. so... will this end any pending run on ammo & firearms? ... or will a "celebration spree" end up causing a run anyway?! hahaha!! what do you think?
  15. - so I bought (2) TGO lowers in the group buy, and just finished them a little while ago. They were purchased with the intent that, when my son and daughter are grown up, I will pass them down - one to each. Since Justice Scalia died, and Clinton surged in the polls, I have known that the chances of me being able to pass them down to my children were getting more slim each day. That's the consequence of policy drift. Tonight, as I seem to breath easier about my own political concerns, I think about those who have been scared by the media's whipping Trump's words into a frenzy. He seem to acknowledge tonight that the "show" was over, and it's time to work. So, it seems, policy will drift toward a conservative line. I have a hope that we can all be gracious in this victory - that the country will find Trump supporters firm on needed change, yet well spoken, kind, and aware of the impacts of that change on men, women, and children who are just like us. - and I hope my kids get to pass these rifles down to their children in time.
  16. -have been thinking about the men/women and their families. ...sadenss.
  17. Apparently, I was on a DOCSIS 2 modem. haha! - a little behind the curve in that department. Well, it finally quit connecting at all today, and the Comcast "associate" informed me that my modem was EOL. -went to Best Buy, bought the new modem (Arris SBG6700) - they Price-matched Amazon, and I had reward dollars from work purchases. The kid at the register said, "woah,.. I've never seen anyone with $xx reward dollars!" I laughed and told him I was glad I could help broaden his world. Setup was online through the browser and painless, and oh what a difference it has made. Maybe I won't wait 4 years to change modems next time.
  18. Ugh. Hoping the criminals got away with little to nothing; however, with what is at stake these days-- and who might be looking for easy ways to gather a massive amount of firepower across the country, the days of leaving weapons out on wire locks overnight are over. I'll gladly pay $5 more per firearm at a place where everything is placed in a concrete room at night. You don't have to prevent entry - you just have to make it take enough time that it's not worth it. * I hope authorities are treating this as a bigger deal than they are letting on.
  19. Llama Llama, Red Pajama -- Ann Dewdney, great poet and children's author, may she rest in peace. - lost her battle with cancer a few months ago. ... back to Dolly! - so grateful for her Imaginatin Library... Great artist - with a vision for truly helping the kids of our state! Congrats, Steelharp!
  20. NOOOOOooooooooo!!!!! hahaha! Agreed with all - Cabelas had better product selection... and was less kitchy. ... hard to be outdoors without being influenced by Johnny Morris - from Ranger all the way down to Tracker & Tahoe... now even Cabelas. On the good side, a public entity went back private. On the bad side, two large outdoor equipment and firearm retailers just got consolidated -- in the long run, that could be bad for us on multiple levels. Time will tell. $5.5 Billion must be clearing out a TON of online competition. 5.5 billlllllllllionnnnnnnn dollars.
  21. Sorry! Couldn't resist!! David et al,... Here's a glass raised to you - thanks for what you do and how you do it!

  23. Costco West Nashville -As of 9:30am Sunday morning, Costco West had 87 (1.99) and 93. There were no lines. (Costco members only)
  24. So, this is a thread to let those in the Nashville area know when/where you see gasoline/diesel available. It is not intended to be a panic thread, but just realtime information for our community. As the week goes on, our family is monitoring our fuel usage so that we don't run into a problem if supplies stay tight.
  25. yep. a 1-4 or a red dot with a flip magnifier would do great. 200yds only long range until you shoot at 400 and beyond enough. Then 0-200 becomes short, 200-400 becomes medium, and 600-... becomes long range. If you are shooting minute of 8" plate, a burris ar332 will serve you so well from 50yds to 300 and beyond. great little prism optic.
