I like the gearslinger (single strap over the shoulder) type bags, so I carry my work laptop (Dell Latitude) in a Maxpedition Sitka. My SHTF bag is a Maxpedition Kodiak and it'd hold a big 17" laptop easily.

+1 Buy the manuals several weeks before you start buying equipment. Berry's Mfg is a very economical choice for bullets. You can get 1000 115 gr plated RNs for under $83 shipped. Bullet weights seem to be more consistent than cheap TMJ/FMJ. Cast lead is cheaper, obviously, but there's a few more variables to deal with. Most advice I've seen says don't start with them. Good choice on the press, IMO. One more thing...it's an obsession, not just a bug.

If every Taurus made had defects, we wouldn't be having this discussion...they'd have been out of business years ago. Likewise, if the leading gun makers had as many defects as Taurus, they wouldn't be the leaders. A lot of us know way more folks who've had a bad cheap gun than we do folks who've had a bad expensive gun. That being said, I still stand by my belief that people who buy the best gun they can afford usually know what they're getting into. That doesn't mean you don't share your experiences with others, but they don't scream as loud as a guy who paid 3X as much and has issues.

I'm sure you already know this, but it's worth saying in case someone less experienced is reading... be careful about shortening and adding more powder at the same time. Pressures can rise quickly doing both.

I know, but it's first only pic wit offset sights I ran across...couldn't resist I've seen the kind you're talking about, though. They are goofy looking. Then again, I've never cared if I look goofy at the range. I've played plinking poker with my Hi-Point, just to make a point and soaked in the laughter.

If Dolomite AND Jerry Miculek use them, they must be good.

The mesh filters also don't filter out the oils and other goodies that make the coffee taste better. At least you can use them for cleaning mirrors/windows. They leave almost no lint. mmm...crunchy coffee

The last couple thousand 9mm I loaded were 124 gr HBRN-TP and then the 115 gr HBRN-TP. I didn't even change the OAL that's been working for me (1.125"). I just adjusted the powder charge to compensate for less volume in the case. I haven't had any feeding/accuracy issues at all. I do hear some over on CZFirearms.us saying they're going way down to 1.07 with some bullets to keep the nose out of the rifling. I don't see how they avoid compressing the powder like that.

All the work to figure out an OAL and bullet shape that works in the CZs isn't wasted just on the CZs. I don't have a single other 9mm that won't shoot the ammo my CZs like. Furthermore, by reducing the OAL some, I save powder...win, win

No doubt, easy wins too often. I have a press at home and at work. At work I often finding myself hitting the Kuerig-like machine we have. Sumatra is one of my favorites. Costa Rican Peaberry is good too.

There's a shop over in Murfreesboro that roasts their own beans several time/week. When the beans are freshly roasted, a froth comes to the top as the beans release CO2. Hard to get beans that fresh at Kroger or Starbucks. If you can stand wading through all the hippies, it's worth the trip.

Good point, especially since statistics tell us most self defense situations will happen in low light. Then again, unless you have tritium night sights you're only gonna see an outline anyway, if it's real dark. Maybe not even then, since you should have a flashlight on your target to make sure what you're shooting at. BTW...I didn't know that about red disappearing first in low light. Interesting! I have some blue FO that I've been dying to try out.

It's worth the pain to me, but then again, I'm a wee bit obsessed. I keep the beans in the dark until time to grind, double filter the water, carefully measure an ounce of coffee (by weight) for every 16 oz water, let the water heat in the electric kettle to 195 degrees, and never ever let it steep over 4.5 minutes. How's that for obsessed?

I read an interesting website about this. IIRC, we all have differing rods/cones in our eyes. Some people can see greens the best and some can see reds the best. In other words by arranging the colored tiles in the test below from one color to another (the end colors vary to test several colors) they can tell you what colors YOU can see the best. http://www.colblindor.com/color-arrangement-test/

Assuming it's the same for long guns...I have a handguns w/ each of the colors mentioned. I like the red or orange best for outdoor shooting and the green for indoor shooting. The white sights are my least favorite...indoors I can only see the outline and outdoors they get lost in the bright light. I think the basecoat is the key. It really makes a huge difference, IMO.

In the one about the barcode/implant concept did you read that silly crap about weapon systems detecting who they shoot? OMG, reall? The one about face detectors in bars was interesting...no more lying to the wife about working late. She can see you swilling beer at the bar, LOL.
