  1. And no story of machines changing from D to R. Suspicious.
  2. Thank you sir! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm in a canning group on Facebook and the old ladies on there say the mainstays jars are ok but the lids suck big time and they fail a lot more often than the others. Jarden brands Ball, Kerr, and Golden Harvest are GTG. Note the new guidelines for new Ball lids about not boiling the lids beforehand. This is the lids with the packages marked BPA Free. Besides the Blue Book the Natl Center for Home Food Preservation website is a great resource and has a lot recipes that are all safe and tested. ...And you should only use safe tested recipes and methods. Yeah, I know "I/we/grandma always did it this way and no one died" but if you poison your kids what grandmaw did won't really matter.
  4. Can't shoot em legally as a nuisance. Can't really illegally shoot, shovel, and shut up either cause of the risk of shooting one with a tracker on it. State don't want to mess with moving them because almost every time they just come back. Plus they live dead center of App Natl Forest. There's 5 for every one they move. The state has a publication that says to "scare that bear" as the way to live with them. A very mean dog and bird shot to the a$$ seems to work best even if they don't want you doing that. If they still had Sheeba she was bold enough to make the bears in the past relocate on their own accord They need to get a hot wire on the shed asap though. Just to keep him out from destroying stuff. They got a guy coming out to put some hives on their place soon and he'll have to run wire. I'm hoping he'll throw some around the shed as a courtesy. But it all boils down to they live in the Forest so they gotta live with bears. And rattlers. And gators getting in their pond. And all kinds of critters. They've lived there a long time and theyll work it out. Saddest part is they don't have any family real close and they are getting up in years. My wife's family's home place was in central FL. They were real deal Florida crackers. At one time they were cow men. But it grew up all around them. grandpa held on as long as he could with town exploding around him. Finally he was surrounded and they sold out and he bought this place up in the Forest. Bounded on 3 sides by ANF and a pretty good piece from town. But they're getting older now and it's hard being so far out without any kin close by, when he can't really do much.
  5. Florida is full of bears. Ironic this story came up. Last week a bear got in my in-laws shed on Sunday night. Tore the door all up, ate a bag of fish food, a bag of chicken scratch, and drug 2 bags of corn 200 yards off into the woods. The grandparents were pretty ticked. Well the sorry thing came back Tuesday night and got over in the chicken coop and ate all their chickens. Grandpa went out riding the mule around the place the next day and caught him and their red heeler give him a good chase back to the fence and back into to forest. Grandpa pulled his .38 just to fire off to scare it as much as he could but he doesn't have the best mobility and didn't get off a shot. They're worried he'll come back and clean out their freezers on the porch (they like to do that) or something or just generally tear more stuff up. They've had to park the farm truck against the shed door to keep it closed last week. Bad thing is he knows there's food there and he ain't scared, and he'll definitely be back. basically the little red heeler is their go-to for now but she's just a pup. she ain't like the German shepherd they used to have that they'd turn out on a bear whenever they saw one up by the house. She was a mean bitch and would actually get after 'em. So they're just trying to make do for now. It's a part of living out in forest that sucks for old people. But they're tough old crackers that know how to deal with it. They need at least a 1 week/year season like they used to have to keep them bears down there honest IMO. There are definitely a lot where they live
  6. I expect a good Christmas present Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You may get tired of neighbors shooting so much lol.
  8. Even though it was a small graduating class the ceremony took some time because of having to chisel names onto the stone tablets.
  9. There's so many conflicting opinions, thoughts, reports, and actions regarding this that I'm starting to believe there isn't anyone that knows jack shit about it or how it is spread. But there sure does seem to be an awful lot of "experts" willing to state their expertness and prevent panic. Whatever. I'll just continue my practice of avoiding: travel, Africans, getting other peoples saliva, mucous or God forbid blood or semen on me, touching stuff, and believing the govt or media. So basically I'll just continue my everyday ocd, germaphobic, skeptical behavior.
  10. Put some acetone in it. They eat up my green beans this year. I
  11. That broccoli cheese soup is purty good in the bread bowl thing. But I ain't one to go to a restaurant just for soup. And the crust on bread I've had was rock hard. If I'm gonna get my mouth all lacerated by food I'm going with Cap'n Crunch.
  12. Didn't get home from work til 9:15. Worn out. And my wife's having a lot of contractions so I reckon Im gonna sit it out in the morning. Good luck I hope everyone sticks a biggun'. I'll be in a tree tomorrow afternoon though if the contractions subside (or if we have a baby before noon, lol)
  13. Pretty fun. But he's kind of a cut up. I hit the brother-in-law jackpot. He is the best man I know. Easily. They're family are all 100% good people. Barry is no different. A couple of weeks before my dad passed he took the time out of his schedule to fly from Houston to here just to visit with pop for like 2 hours. They weren't even technically related, it's his brother that is married into our family. But we've all known each other so long and have always spent a lot of holidays and things together so we are all pretty close. But I thought that was just a good thing he did and my dad really, really enjoyed it when he was extremely sick. Out of all the cool sh!t he's done in life I appreciate that the most.
  14. No they allow them back they just "monitor" them. what ever the hell that means. I kinda bet he wouldn't mind to be bombing the sh!t out of ISIS. In spite of our screwy political relationship with Russia right now I skyped with my sister and them last night and they've had a great time. They toured the Kremlin and all that and have had an excellent experience the whole trip. Tomorrow is the big day though.
  15. http://m.wcyb.com/news/tennessean-blasts-off-into-space-thursday/28231044 Yeah, shameless plug for him (his brother and my sister are married) but it's still exciting. And it kinda relates to guns bc he's a gun guy.
  16. Muddy harness is great. That's what I use
  17. 12ga is fine for bears. I know of people down in FL who shoot em in the a$$ with bird shot to keep em out of their yard every now and then.
  18. Meh, I thought it was Bluto too. Don't matter if they change him. I think Popeye's ship has likely sailed. I doubt kids today will really get into the "newly designed" bland boring Popeye or the old one. Only kids with nostalgic parents would have interest in old school Popeye and likely won't dig a new boring Popeye either. These children are more sophisticated already from being exposed to other vintage characters ie Tom and Jerry, Foghorn Leghorn, etc.
  19. Holy sh!t!! I thought only my wife and I used that!!! And it's exactly what I thought when I read this actors opinion! Lmao
  20. Not trying to change topic but Can we use this against Mothers against Guns' (or whatever it is) campaign aimed at Kroger somehow?
  21. Why Juarez? Terrorists can't break through our inpenetrable force field on the border with Mexico and drive North? If I were to guess I'd say it'd be more likely they'd have already entered, maybe through Mexico and they'd drive on up and touch off a car bomb in Washington, NYC, or maybe even LA. South Texas just don't make no sense to me. And why would I believe terrorists aren't just here chillin, livin' a good old American lifestyle anyway (Tsarnaev brothers?)
  22. http://www.donelsonautoclinic.com Mike is a friend and a good honest guy.
